Cannot open the command line

Whenever I try to open the command prompt, I get a UAC message which disables it, and then clicking Yes, no or 'x', firm invites so I can't use it at all. Furthermore, I can't adjust or turn off UAC settings. Something I can't do.

This is either due to a domain policy created by your domain administrator or the effect of some malware.

  • Cannot close the command line

Whenever I run a command prompt on my Windows 7 laptop, the only so he can close when I'm done, is to restart the computer. I know there must be a way out of this thing.  In addition, I am a blind person, and it is quite possible that I don't see a button or similar on the screen that can close the prompt. I use a screen reader program, but it does detect all of the elements that would allow me to close it.  Any help will be appreciated, I need to find this answer.

Further to Zig - Zag reply: by clicking on the X in the upper right of the command line would also work (although in your case, type the word out would be simpler).

  • Analyzer of sequence running from the command line in TestStand 2010

    Hello

I would like to be able to run and control the stand-alone command line sequence Analyzer.  I can do that in 2014 TS (and it seems that I could patch versions as soon as 2012 TS to give them this ability), as described here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/B927893F26BFB64A86257ECE006E442D

However, I work with a large existing codebase in 2010 TS (with no intention to migrate to a newer version, in the foreseeable future).  Is it possible to get the same functionality from command line in the 2010 version of the parser?

I know that I can open the command line parser, but are the commands, I am interested in: analyze, report, / save, /clearMessagesOnSave, / minimize, / help, / / leave.

    Thank you!

    Thanks Ryan, Jigg,

Yes, I can run the parser (and opened a project), but basically, I can't run anything.

I realized what I do by writing a TestStand sequence that calls the parser to sequence through its API (attached).  I can then run TestStand (and call this sequence) from the command line.

  • Firefox does not open after the update. Cannot open the profile technical, even when you use the directory in cmd line path

I'm using Firefox on a Windows 7 computer. Firefox does not open after the last update. I read the help articles and it seems that I need to create a new profile because my settings were probably corrupted. I'm unable to open the profile technical, even when you use the directory in cmd line path. I tried the following commands in the command line:

    Firefox Pei
    "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla" PEI

    Nothing happens with every order.

I am also running Norton Internet Security. I read a help of virtual navigation features Re article that can cause a problem. The article says to check the setting of virtualization in the internet security software and to clear the virtual cache. I went through all the menus of settings in Norton Internet Security version 21.6.0.32 and I don't see anything that looked like in "virtualization" settings, so I guess that does not apply to me. "

Hello arcandl, at the launch of the firefox is not after you double-click the shortcut, it is sometimes also a sign of active malware on a system.
you might want to try running a scan with some various other security like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner tools that are specialized to remove the adware and browser hijackers.

  • Open a file from the command line

    Hello

I try to open a pdf file to a specific page from the command line on Windows 10.  I have referenced a few online sources (for example, the stack overflow), but could not find my mistake.  I enter:

    PS to C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader >.\AcroRd32.exe 'page = 50' \a "c:\test.pdf".

When I do, the Player opens with an error message "there was an error opening this document. This file is not found", but clicking on the box OK dialog then opens the file (test.pdf is without a doubt), but the page = 50 command is ignored.

    Can anyone see my mistake?

    Thank you

    Dave

    Memory, /A is not \A.

  • Is there a problem with Adobe Reader DC using the command line to open a file?

    Hello

I am a developer and we use Adobe Reader to view our PDF help files in our application.  For years, we used WinExec() to open Adobe Reader, by specifying the file to open on the command line and it has been working perfectly.  In other words, upward until our users began to load Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.  Despite this work very well when you type a command using CMD.exe, it simply does not help WinExec() from another application programmatically.  Also, I modified the code to try using CreateProcess() or ShellExecute() and these functions do not work either.

It may have to do with the fact that there is a switch or a parameter now within the DC, but I don't know what it is, or why it happens.  If anyone can shed some light on this it would be much appreciated because it severely hampers our latest version of the software.

    Kind regards

    Leigh.

A common cause is not to put quotes on the command line, so instead of

    "c:\program files...\acrord32.exe" "c:\documents and settings\...my file.pdf.

    You write

    "c:\program files...\acrord32.exe" c:\documents and settings\...my file.PDF

This has always been bad, but older versions it would accept anyway. (It was a recent change but not in DC).

I would recommend using ShellExecute instead of the command line, however. That simulates a double-click and executes everything the user has created for PDFs (perhaps Reader, Acrobat maybe, maybe something else).

  • Open a PDF file to a specific page of the command line

I want to open a PDF stored locally to a specific page of the command line. I've seen examples of access files based on the web using http and the #page = parameter, but it doesn't seem to work for a file stored on my local disk.  I want to be able to use VBA in MS Access to control the opening page.

    Hi cfwoodbury,

When you open a PDF document from a command shell, you can pass parameters to the command to open the switch /A with the following syntax:

    /A "=" ""

    For example:

    Acrobat.exe/a "zoom = 1000" "C:\example.pdf"

    Kind regards

I am running Windows XP, MS office Outlook 2007

Is it a link in an e-mail message in Outlook? This problem arises from time to time.

While Firefox can usually set himself as the proper application to open the URL, you click in other programs, settings are sometimes blur or do not take. This article has tips to solve this problem: setting Firefox as the default browser does not work - what to do. Anything there help?

If the problem persists, is there something special about how you start Firefox? For example, you have this launch in a security 'sandbox' or virtual machine? You have all the command-line options set to allow several simultaneous sessions of Firefox, or call the Profile Manager? If none of this sounds familiar to you, the answer is probably not.

This is almost always due to:

    1. you have an older version of Outlook that does not have command line switch.  What version of Outlook you have?
    2. you have not put a space between "Outlook.exe" and "/ resetnavpane.

  • Cannot open the 5.3 Lightroom Catalog. Download «...» It is not writable and cannot be opened"message.

    Hello world

I'm having a problem opening a lightroom catalog. I get a message "Lightroom can't use the catalog because it is not writable and cannot be opened.

The catalogue and thousands of RAW files are stored on an external drive.

Here are the steps that caused the problem in my view:

1 has worked with the catalog on my laptop. Disconnected the disk without closing first Lightroom (big mistake).

2 connect the external hard drive on desktop PC and did extra work. Closed Ligtroom (office) and disconnected the disk.

3 reconnect the drive of the laptop while original catalogue is always open (see #1 above). Clicked on an image at which point Lightroom crashed and closed by itself.

The problem now is that the catalog opens is no longer on computers. Any attempt to open the results in the message "Lightroom can't use the catalog because it is not writable and cannot be opened. There is no lock or log file that can be deleted, just the lrcat file and tons of files with preview of the data.

I hope this isn't a lost cause and I can still recover the catalog. There are 2 work days.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

Ok. I found a solution. As Ligthroom catalog is a SQLite database, you can use a database tool to fix it. Just download SQLite www.sqlite.org for your OS (Windows 7 in my case) and unzip into C:\SQLite for ease of use. Copy your catalog corrupted the C:\SQLite file as well as to keep things simple.

At the command prompt start > run, type 'cmd' and press ENTER. This opens the command prompt where you will need to run the following commands:

    1 cd sqlite

    2. echo .dump | SQLite3 yourcatalogfilename.lrcat > tempcatalog.sql

    3 sqlite3 - init tempcatalog.sql newcatalogfilename.lrcat

After the execution of line 3, you may or may not see error messages. No worries, it simply truncated faulty records that is what causes the catalog to crash.

Now, copy the newcatalogfilename.lrcat into your lightroom catalog file and run it. You should be able to get things up and running to where you left, or to the point where original Lightroom Catalog has been corrupted in first place.

I hope this helps. It took me a few hours to find a solution, but it saved me at least 2 days of work. Original credit goes to the author of the article according to http://www.simplyness.com/more-photography-tips/recover-corrupted-unrepairable-lightroom-3 - catalog - with - sqlite.html. It seemed to have worked for Lightroom 3 and still worked for Lightroom 5.3 in my case.

  • Cannot open the application "Mail" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported

I work on a MacBook Pro mid 2012

    Intel Core i5 2.5 GHz

    OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

The Mail app suddenly quit and when I tried to resume, I got this message

"Cannot open the application"Mail"because the PowerPC applications are no longer supported."

This also happens with the "Maps" app

All Mac software are up to date, but "Mail" has been working fine since my last update that was awhile ago.

I am confused to say the least. Suggestions? Thank you!

If you do a Get Info (command - I) on Mail and Maps applications, what version numbers do you see?

    Try a reboot.

Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.
