  I am running windows vista, but can not open Word attachments in windows mail. I get the message: "this file has no program associated with it. Create an association in the set Associations Panel.

  If I'm going to start by default/programs/associated with a file type, it is show as .doc files being associated with Word. What is the problem?

  Yes, Microsoft Office Word is responsible.

  Save it in a folder of your choice. See if you can open it.

  1. type the command in the dialog box RUN to open the command prompt

  2. when the command prompt comes up, type cd \windows

  3. type regedit to open the registry.

  4. expand HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and find the .exe file

  5. without it, developing the main folder .exe , right-click (default) right and the change . Change the value in exefile data

  6. in the same HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT , find the folder items exefile and click right (default) and the change . Change the value data to "% 1" % *

  7. Finally extend exefile , expand shell , Open , click the file command , right-click (default) and change . Change the value data to "% 1" % *

  8. close Regedit and restart the computer. When the computer reboots, EXE files should not prompt you to choose a program to run now and load correctly.

  Once these steps have been completed scan of your laptop for any virus/malware/Trojan horses and you should find this:
  Infected registry keys:

  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ {19127ad2-394b-70f5-c650-b97867baa1f7} (Backdoor.Bot)-> quarantined and deleted successfully.
  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\secfile (Trojan.Fakealert)-> quarantined and deleted successfully.

  Infected registry data items:

  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\scrfile\shell\open\command\ (Default) (Broken.OpenCommand)-> Bad: (like Notepad. (Good EXE 1%): ('%1' S)-> quarantined and deleted successfully.
  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\regfile\shell\open\command\ (Default) (Broken.OpenCommand)-> Bad: (like Notepad. (Good EXE 1%): (regedit.exe "%1")-> quarantined and deleted successfully.
  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\(default) (Hijacked.exeFile )-> Bad: (secfile) good: (exefile)-> quarantined and deleted successfully.

  Once everything has been cleaned, you should be good to use your laptop again.

• How to open Word under Vista?

  I have Vista on a Toshiba laptop and Office 2007 was loaded at the time of purchase. I can't find a way to open MS Word.  Excel, Power Point and a Note (all 2007) are available from start > path of all the programs, and Visio 2003 that I loaded it later. I can open a Word document documents, which will start Word 2007, but cannot find a way to start Word in the case.  Suggestions?

  Click Start , then in the search box, type winword.exe . When winword.exe is displayed in the list above do a right-click on it and select Pin in the Start Menu, Pin to TaskBar, etc as you wish.

  I recently discovered that Microsoft Office won't open. Finally I used it about 2 weeks ago and it was fine. The only change I can think in the intervening period is a system restore. I have installed recommended updates HP that actually no difference. The message I get says:

  Microsoft Word Starter 2010 cannot be opened. Try again or repair the program in Control Panel.

  I've been in Control Panel and can't see where I'm supposed to go to fix it so any help would be appreciated.

  Use the programs and features in Control Panel to repair attempts. Office Starter to highlight in the list programs and features, and then click the button 'Edit' at the top, then this screen opens, select "repair".

  1. the easiest way is to define a right-click on association any
  example of a file with this extension. Choose open with and define the
  Association, making sure to check the box "always use...". ».

  When you use "open" in Word 2007 I can't see my Word documents on my backup drive.  I can go through Windows Explorer on the backup drive and see the files somewhere else and just double-click on it to open it in Word, but don't see them, so that in Word.  How can this be addressed?

  What do you expect, you have installed two applications allmost gueranteed to destroy your system.
  Pilots are obtained from your site if OEMs like Dell / HP or a laptop or a generic PC from various hardware manufacturers sites.
  Unless a driver update is required to provide greater functionality, or cure a bug to know, leave them alone. If it isn't broken don't fix.
  Do NOT use winupdate for drivers not more.
  In what concerns the 'cleaners' If you don't know how to clean manually and is rarely necessary, you don't leave things alone.
  Like it uninstall these useless, destructive programs and run a repair using your office CD Office

  I work with RH X 5 on Windows XP running MS Word 2003.
  
  My problem is that when I opened my project in HR for Word (using WinHelp 4) I get a message that says "Unable to open MS Word" or something like that.
  Thus, when I make changes to my document and then compile it, none of the changes appear in the compiled help file.
  
  So I can drop my document of HR, and then import it again to see if HR connect and then view my changes the. HLP file after compilation?

  Have you installed the patch RH for Word 2003?

  Word 2003 has been installed after the HR? If it was, perhaps, in any case, I would be uninstall and then Reinstall RH.

  None of my files open after that superantispyware scanned my computer after getting the anitvirusvista 2010 and remove something and rebooted and everything I download does not open either and the live windows care does not work so do not know what to do.   I used ccleaner, after finishing, I was not able to access to word or ppt... I am getting error 1719 and problems with windows install and I got dnssd missing dll, but I put one in Wow64. I really don't know where the problem lies... I tried everything from softbooting to sfc/scannow... I have windows 7... I copied the log on the desktop and I noticed this repetition:

  Select: Open with on the shortcut menu.
  Click: Choose [default] program
  Letter: Microsoft Word
  Check: Always use the selected program to open this type of file.
  Click OK.
