  I am running windows vista, but can not open Word attachments in windows mail. I get the message: "this file has no program associated with it. Create an association in the set Associations Panel.

  If I'm going to start by default/programs/associated with a file type, it is show as .doc files being associated with Word. What is the problem?

  Yes, Microsoft Office Word is responsible.

  Save it in a folder of your choice. See if you can open it.

  I recently discovered that Microsoft Office won't open. Finally I used it about 2 weeks ago and it was fine. The only change I can think in the intervening period is a system restore. I have installed recommended updates HP that actually no difference. The message I get says:

  Microsoft Word Starter 2010 cannot be opened. Try again or repair the program in Control Panel.

  I've been in Control Panel and can't see where I'm supposed to go to fix it so any help would be appreciated.

  Use the programs and features in Control Panel to repair attempts. Office Starter to highlight in the list programs and features, and then click the button 'Edit' at the top, then this screen opens, select "repair".

  1. the easiest way is to define a right-click on association any
  example of a file with this extension. Choose open with and define the
  Association, making sure to check the box "always use...". ».

  When you use "open" in Word 2007 I can't see my Word documents on my backup drive.  I can go through Windows Explorer on the backup drive and see the files somewhere else and just double-click on it to open it in Word, but don't see them, so that in Word.  How can this be addressed?

  I used ccleaner, after finishing, I was not able to access to word or ppt... I am getting error 1719 and problems with windows install and I got dnssd missing dll, but I put one in Wow64. I really don't know where the problem lies... I tried everything from softbooting to sfc/scannow... I have windows 7... I copied the log on the desktop and I noticed this repetition:

  Right click on the saved file.
  Select: Open with on the shortcut menu.
  Click: Choose [default] program
  Letter: Microsoft Word
  Check: Always use the selected program to open this type of file.
  Click OK.

  You have Word? Office 2004 won't work with El Capitan.

  You can save the attachment and then try to open it to see what happens. If it still does not open, try to open Word or Pages or TextEdit and use the command open.

  Opening existing documents from my hard drive or e-mail attachments in Word or Excel in is no longer a simple click. Now download small window saying windows cannot open it unless I have it or look for an appropriate program or select a program myself.  I see no reason for that, unless there has been a recent update kind. Or is there a setting that has been changed by mistake on my computer?

  It is a simple case of the computer, forgetting what should be used to open the file.

  Attention that I am working on a victory 8 atm machine and these instructions cannot be perfectly describes

  If you go to start > Control Panel > default applications (may be slightly different) > chose the 'extension' (IE 'doc' for a word document) or xls for excel and find the appropriate application to open it.

  I created a link to a pdf file in a Word 7 document.  The pdf is located on an external website. I get the following message appears when you try to follow this link - Ctrl + click.  I use Windows XP SP3.  The pdf file can be opened in IE and Ff.
