cannot repair broken links

Hello

I've got broken 267 links on a single page, all the images.

There seems to be no difference between the survivors of the links and broken links,

I tried to fix the links in the link Inspector and the properties panel, which failed.

I think that it can take a long time to fix, so I don't want to go down the wrong paths, especially with me being a relative newbee a whole.

The page in question is here:

http://denchworthponds.co.UK/pond%20Construction.html

It's a site heavy image in which each image has

a miniature, a miniature bearing and a great lightbox image that is activated when you click on the thumbnail

122 links are OK, 267 links are broken.

I didn't notice before I downloaded the site as happening in "Preview in browser".

Maybe the problem is in my code - I hope so.

Would it be one of the following values?

1 / the pictures are in the image files in the folder of images on my local site, it's a bad habit to have folders in the folders on my local site? (i've got charges)

2 / since registration (for the Web and devices) the images on my local site, I have many of them reopened in photoshop for alteration of the image, I was checking for an increase in file size so I did change the images, but do not see. Then, of course, I saved their return in the same folder with the same name etc. Was the problem that I simply recorded images and is not saved for the Web and devices? -they were already optimized. (some images have been changed manually, others using the Actions palette)

3 / some of the file names are probably not friendly DW, for example;

the pond6thumb4 file is located in my 12pondbuild6 4/11 folder,

DW reads this folder as 12pondbuild6 4% 3 a 11 - that is the problem?

(and, as I say, this folder is inside the Images folder on my local site)

The mystery to me is that 122 links are not broken, and I see no difference between the survivor and the broken links. It all seems a bit arbitory.

I'm running CS5.5 on a 2007 iMac core duo desktop computer.

Any thoughts anyone?

Thank you for your time and greycells in advance

-Shaun

Yes OK, it was indeed the names of folders:

change 12pondbuild6 4/11

What DW reads like 12pondbuild6 4% 3 to 11

at 12pondbuild6

-and then you can fix the link in the link checker

-I think he'll be a night loong.

  • Convert P65 without Pagemaker files to repair broken links?

I just bought InDesign Pagemaker is no longer available, but I have P65 files that have a broken because of new hardware and software link and need to be reconnected in Pagemaker if I just get a blank page. I can't Pagemaker somewhere? Or is there a way around this?

I cracked it!    I did go through all the relevant files to write notes addresses file and when I tried to convert again, IT WORKED. The file opened, some of the captions and headings are passed and some of the most recent illustrations are missing but its OK. I tried to fix the first link and after waiting about a minute he told me that he had repaired 77 links!

  • broken link is not repairable

I'm on RH8. I have a broken link, which I can't get rid of. When I try to import the htm, HR gives me a message that the subject is already in the project file. Is there a way to fix this? Or what I need to do something weird like delete the subject of this project and then re-import to get rid of the broken link?

The key is that you can't have two files of the same name in a project, unless they are in different folders. So, you could import the file in a different folder or delete the other file. Only you can say what action is best.

  • How can I remove a broken link?

You don't really know if there is a better way to put it. Basically my browser is to register a bookmark, but nothing more than his name; no location, nothing (see the url of the image: http://tinypic.com/r/2n1z4x/5).
It cannot be deleted or moved or whatever it is. It isn't really much of a problem more that all bookmarks below don't appear in the menu of the toolbar, but I don't want it if possible.

Because the bookmarks file is actually readable in Notepad ++, I think it's the broken link (given the entry until it is the bookmark located directly above the toolbar):

    {'index': 2, 'title': 'Tags', 'id': 4, 'parent': 1, 'dateAdded': 1357947259755000, 'lastModified': 1357947259755000, 'type': ' text/x-moz-place-container', 'root': "tagsFolder", "children": []}

Assuming that is the question, I would be fine in just this deletion or would do a different course of action?
Would be back up and then restore the question clearly?

    Hello

First disconnect the external devices connected to the computer except the mouse and keyboard.

Startup Repair is a Windows Vista recovery tool that can fix certain problems, such as system files missing or damaged that may prevent Windows from starting correctly. When you run the Startup Repair, it scans your computer for the problem and then tries to fix it so that your computer can start correctly.

As Windows automatically launches the Startup Repair tool there is a possibility that she cannot cross the whole scan problems.

I suggest that you do the startup repair using the Windows Vista installation disc and check if it works.

If you have a Windows Vista installation disc, you need to restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc. If you do not restart your computer from the disk, the option to repair your computer will not appear.

    1. Insert the installation disc.
    2. restart your computer.
Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the lock button, and then click restart.
    3. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
Note If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.
    4. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
    5. click on Repair your computer.
    6. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    7. in the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair.

  • Fixing broken links

    Newbie using ID CS5:

I have to many broken links to images that I don't have, and I suspect that they are not used. The guy from the printer needs for me to fix all broken links, and I don't know how. How, in the name of Elvis, do you take a broken link on the links palette when you know that the image is no longer in use.

I'm not a guy ID; I'm just someone doing a favor. If someone could do me a favor and tell me how to do this, I might be able to put an end to this nightmare. And I will try to return the favor if I can.

Links are just pointers to an external file. By linking data image InDesing is able to keep the size of the reasonable document and the performance is acceptable. Average links missing tha the pointer is no longer valid and ID cannot find the file in the original location. This can happen for various reasons, in general is the file has been transferred to a new user who has no access to the location files original (and who is often accompanied by a failure to provide the linked files, during the transfer), or sometimes a person moves or renames something and the path is broken.

IF you have received all the files that are supposed to be related you can republish them and solve your problem. The easiest way is to put them in the same folder as the document and let ID find automatically when you reopen the doc. If you were not given these external files, you must go to the one who made the file and ask for them.

  • A broken link in RH8 - details please

    Dear Experts,

I tried following in the other displayed items relating to this topic, but they all appeared to be different from what I am seeign in my project. I know how to fix borken links (for example) in the files themselves, however, when the current folder "links" in the project manager, I can't delete the links are no longer needed, or to see clearly if I still need them, it's a bit overwhelming, as I moved some information within a project, and (while my application kept crashing - another story) whenever I have re-opened, it does not seem to clear the changes I'd made through caching clear as I have in my game to the top.

Within the MP, if I right click on the broken link, I do not get an option to explore, I have only the following:

    broken_links.jpg

However, when I click on restore in this dialog box, or even if I select the see the link and try and restore, nothing happens. I tried to correct current in one of the real issues and remove the link and then re - insert it and then by recording information, and remains. Unfortunately, I broke the links to the real topics that are used throughout the entire project, (as fundamental for the generic search and other things)... so it has now created havoc for me, and I can't seem to start with a single. I know if I can get a course, I will be able to quickly correct others, but he cannot know. (probably right under my nose).

This sounds like there is unsaved when changes to your project the project / PC crashed. As a result, RoboHelp got a little lost as to what should be there. I think that the answer must first close your project backup and then delete the file from the DPC project. If the poster project always broken, links open files individual topic links and ensure they point to the right file. It may be preferable to reinsert the links. Save as you go, and I hope that broken links will disappear. Let us know how you go.

  • Unable to solve broken links

    Hello

I have a long list of broken links in my project that I am unable to solve. I have tried 3 things:

I ran the report of broken links, and the entry for each broken link says "lack of subject xyz.htm is referenced by the following:"However, the report does not list what refers the subject. "

If I right click on a link that is broken (from the project tab) and select Show the topic links in the menu that appears, RoboHelp displays an icon for the item in the right pane. However, there are no links to the topic. And question mark icon is red instead of the typical blue.

If I right click on a link that is broken (from the project tab) and select see references in the menu that appears, RoboHelp shows the window of the section references. This window lists the "missing section", but no mention of lists. When I click on the button restore, I get this error message: the file name is not valid. The character "#" cannot be used in a pathname.

All of my missing items have the # in the name. For example,.

    some_topic.htm #IX_reporting

I think that these 'missing subjects' were created when I import a word document into the project. Anyone have an idea how I can remove and resolve these links broken?

    Thank you!

Thanks Peter. In fact, I didn't have to try both methods. The bonds broken is solved... as if by magic it seems. Perhaps, I closed and reopened the project enough times.
