• Cannot set the default email in apple mail client

  Hi all

  I have a rather unusual problem. I'm on El captain, and I have 16 Mac Office installed (Outlook).

  When I go in my OS X mail client, and go to Preferences-> general-> default mail reader, it shows currently Outlook.

  When I go ahead and select Mail and then close the window and then return the preferences window, it switches back to Outlook.

  I can't set mail as my default mail client, which also live up to my sheet on part of Safari options (shows Outlook, no email).

  Is there another way in the system to set my default mail client, which will remain?

  I went the Outlook preferences, and there is no option to be found to set or no set Outlook as the default e-mail client. Strange.

  Any help would be appreciated!

  You can also set this option in Outlook preferences. Try here. I don't have the app to check where, but I think it is located on the general tab.

• How can I control the size of the pane name displayed in the Message pane window?

  When I open a message, a full name (the raw message content) opens as a window in the upper part of the window of the Message pane. I have this display smaller window name (fit) while maintaining the ability to scroll. By dragging the edge of window display name would work well. Alternatively, the possibility to switch the display name and disable as F8 active / deactivate the messages pane.

  I noticed the address book display name feature, but very few of my messages or inscriptions in the book to meet the need.

  Looks like you display the full headers as giving the scroll describe you. But there is no way to drag the section header of a smaller size because it is attached and part of the Message pane.

  There is a setting to reduce the headers, but this removes the scroll to display the full headers. I tend to use this point of view, unless I need to see the full headers.

  Just saw that Thunderbird has been updated to version 38.0.1 and I found that the "+" in the message pane is missing and displays now any electronic information in this area. Previously, I was able, by using a + button at the top left corner, change the size, which changes the displayed info. The + is missing and I can't find a way to change the size of the header in the messages pane.

  Menu (alt + T) tools > Add-ons and find the entry for the compact header module and activate it.

  I use version 2.1 in daily builds. So it does not work with Version 38

  Your old catalog is still there, use the file-> open the recent item

  The error "cannot be read" indicates that the folder where your photos are to be copied in has no WRITE permission. Change your permissions on this folder.

  You run a program like CCleaner? This software tends to mess with the settings in Thunderbird.
  Thunderbird is designed to open just as you closed. Including the message pane disabled.

  I like the very compact message pane. In the last updated 21/07/2015, the '+' disappeared and the message pane takes too much space. I'm willing to change Thunderbird mail readers.

  The + and - are from an add on which you installed to sometimes called Compact Headers. That add needs to be updated to work with the new version of Thunderbird.
  Go to add it on the page and are looking for Compact headers. There is a new version that works with versions of Thunderbird 37 to 40.

  FYI: People, answer the questions here are users like you and really don't care what email client you use. Make a threat to stop using free software isn't really a threat.

  Tell CCleaner to let Thunderbird only.
  Uncheck everything that CCleaner offers to 'clean up' associated with Thunderbird.

  The preview area is called the messages pane. You can activate the message on and outside pane using either:

  • F8 key
  • Press the Alt key to display the classic menu bar > View menu > page layout > the message pane

  I don't know why I can't find it in the new menu (3 bars). There has got to be somewhere.

  The question should be explicit. Windows Mail allows the folders pane, the message list and the part of the message to be listing in 3 columns side by side. In Thunderbird the message pane is available only beneathe the message list. Am I missing something?

  Could you go to the view menu, click Layout, and then view Veritical?

  Try running Firefox in questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode. If it works properly in this configuration, then one of your modules is the culprit.
