  After the last update (December 15, 2015) to Photoshop CC (2015), at startup, the little splash screen comes up for a few seconds, then closes.  Photoshop just never came up, and there is no error message from Windows (8.1, fully patched) or Ps.  I look at startup in the Task Manager, I see Photoshop.exe come during these few seconds, then disappear.  While the splash screen is in place, and briefly showing the msgs little progress, happens to one that says "shared components...   As its been almost a year that it is updated, you may be better off to backup your data and backup of your entire system, so you can get back to this point at least if something goes wrong. Then:

  Update your anti-virus software and run a full scan. Then download, install, update and run a full scan with Malwarebytesfree. Keep it free, no need to start a trial etc. Malware can be a cause of failure of the updates, the scan won't take long to run and should report something nasty, if its there.

  Then you can try the following:

  Just updated Photoshop CC 2015 through creative application of cloud on a Pc Dell with Windows 10 x 64, Nvidia K2000M graphics card.

  The workspace start seems to be the cause.

  Go to the Photoshop preferences > General > uncheck show the splash screen > restart Photoshop and check again.

• Apply the last update of LightRoom (2015.10.15) and now extreme lag when you change any photo.

  Actually, after several days, I found the answer. I tried to do it on a computer that has Adobe Reader is already installed. As soon as I took it, the steps above worked.

• Firefox will not open at all, after the last update (13.08.2015).

  After the update (40.0.2 @ 13.08.2015) just used Firefox open. The process is visible in the Task Manager, but does nothing. no window. JUST. NOTHING. It works only in safe mode or when ran as administrator. I tried other computers from home too. Same thing.

  Try a clean reinstall and delete the program folder before Firefox to (re) install a new copy of the current version of Firefox.

  Have you installed them in CC 2015.5? Third party Plug-ins are not migrated by 2015 CC to CC 2015.5 Adobe, you must install and then new versions of Photoshop.

  I also read that the Nik brushes do not work in CC 2015.5.

  In any case, problem I have now is that new laptop does not start, but for some reason any product recovery disc also does not work...

  I have read on various forums that it might work if I reformat the HD first using some s/w on a bootable CD but how / what S/W can I use...?
  The laptop has a SATA HD 160 GB installed. How can I check that it all works.
  I don't know if the current problem is S/W or related material...
