Cannot run a «BUSINESS...» WHEN ' with a date in a WHERE CLAUSE condition

Hello

I need to check for a condition and date according to the date, he would check a set of host names or the other game... so I thought I could write something like this in the WHERE clause:

AND HOST_NAME IN

(

CASE

WHEN TO_DATE (: StopDate, 'MON-DD-YYYY') > = TO_DATE ('22 - DEC - 2015 "," DD-MON-YYYY ') THEN

('SERVERNAMEA', 'SERVERNAMEB', 'SERVERNAMEC') ON THE OTHER

("SERVERNAME1", "NAMESERVER2", "SERVERNAME3")

END

)

I get the following:

ORA-00907: lack of right parenthesis

00907 00000 - "lack the right parenthesis.

But there is no missing parentheses!

If I take the case... when... end, and run the host_name in ('SERVERNAMEA', 'SERVERNAMEB', 'SERVERNAMEC') (separately, they run fine)...

I also tried:

AND

(

CASE

WHEN TO_DATE (: StopDate, 'MON-DD-YYYY') > = TO_DATE ('22 - DEC - 2015 "," DD-MON-YYYY ') THEN

HOST_NAME IN ('SERVERNAMEA', 'SERVERNAMEB', 'SERVERNAMEC') ELSE

HOST_NAME IN ('SERVERNAME1","NAMESERVER2","SERVERNAME3")

END

)

the error I get is:

ORA-00905: lack of keyword

00905 00000 - 'lack the key word'

What keyword miss me?

Hello

It was a typo when transferred to the Oracle forum... the version of Oracle is: PL/SQL version 10.2.0.3.0 (10 G)

I also used IF the statement and that has not worked (in error "missing parenthesis") which I'm sure is a matter of "syntax"... I did not know that the CASE statement returns the value single only, so it's probably the problem.  Is it possible to re - write this?

...

IF only works in PL/SQL.  It does not in SQL, even if that SQL is embedded in PL/SQL.

There are many ways to re - write the condition.  And here's one:

AND ((host_name IN ('SERVERNAMEA', 'SERVERNAMEB', 'SERVERNAMEC')

AND TO_DATE (: StopDate, "MON-DD-YYYY") > = TO_DATE ('22-DEC-2015', "MON-DD-YYYY")

)

OR (host_name IN ('servername1","Nameserver2","SERVERNAME3")

AND TO_DATE (: StopDate, "MON-DD-YYYY")<  to_date="" ('dec-22-2015', ="">

)

)

If: StopDate can be NULL, it must be a bit more complicated.

You can also use nested, such as CASE expressions

AND THE CASE

WHEN TO_DATE (: StopDate, "MON-DD-YYYY") > = TO_DATE ('22-DEC-2015', "MON-DD-YYYY")

WHILE CASE

WHEN host_name IN ('SERVERNAMEA', 'SERVERNAMEB', 'SERVERNAMEC')

AND THEN 'OK '.

END

OTHER CASES

WHEN host_name IN ('servername1","Nameserver2","SERVERNAME3")

AND THEN 'OK '.

END

END = 'OK '.

I wonder if this in your application is the best way, however.  If SERVERNAMEA was put into service on December 22, maybe that that fact should be recorded in a table.  If you have a table with 1 row per server, you can consider adding 2 columns DATE to show when the server was first and last used.  Then, rather than use a WHERE clause to test servers appropriate, you could do an inner join.

  • "No valid source or target channels specified. Cannot run. "error when you try to convert to digital channel waveform

    I'm trying to convert a waveform channel in one digital channel and a channel of absolute time, but I get the "no valid source or target channels specified. Error cannot run. ».

    I'm trying to concatenate several files TDMS InsightCM so I can display the data in a continuous flow over time. If the first file loaded (one of the channels in the group "Signals") convert the same channel, it works fine, but when I try to do the same thing with any of the channels from the second file (one of the channels in the group "Waveforms1"), I get the error.

    Hi JEBalles,

    I was able to reproduce this behavior when I chose a digital channel as my channels to convert. In this case, it looks like you run the operation on the speed profile > Mod1-Ch0 A NL, which is a digital channel.

    Could you try to select a waveform another channel? It looks like [3] Mod1-Ch0 A NL is a waveform channel.

  • Cannot create a new startup with my data disc

    Hi guys, here's the problem: when I try to create a new startup with my data disc, I can't boot from this drive.

    The startup progress bar takes forever and then I see a white circle with a line through it. ("Prohibited" / "Ghostbusters" sign.)

    In verbose mode, it hangs on "break pci: SDXC ' for a while, then it clears the screen and watch the Circle + line with 'still waiting on the root device' at the bottom left.

    I can't boot into single user mode. Quite simply, there is the same thing as verbose mode. Even in safe mode. So I have few options for debugging. I did a SMC reset, no change. Is there anything else I should try?

    Additional information:

    -I'm trying to start off a new SSD that I bought, currently in a USB 3.0 enclosure external. I know that all is well with the speaker because I started off of him several times in the past. I know that all is well with the reader, because I tried to do the same process with another drive and it doesn't work the same way.

    -J' cloned my current boot drive to the new drive with SuperDuper!, Carbon Copy Cloner and I also did a clean install of El Capitan using recovery mode. The new facility has worked well until I migrated my old data.

    - So there must be something in my data which are striated throughout this process. I don't know what it is maybe or how to track him down.

    Any thoughts are appreciated!

    So can OK we use CLOB/BLOB in where clause?

    Yes, you can query the LOB columns using the package (F.ex.SUBSTR or INSTR) DBMS_LOB functions.

    Why u say that the result is FTS?

    This would result in FTS as you cannot index LARGE data or create a function based on the column index.

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/sql_elements001.htm#sthref149

    LONG columns cannot be indexed.

    No other way to my knowledge.

    You can convert the LOB column with function TO_LOB as described in

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/functions185.htm#i79464

  • using case when statement or decode unfavorable in where clause

    Hi the gems...

    I have a problem in the following query...
    I try to use when case statement in where clause of a select query.

    Select cr.customer_name. ' - ' || CR.customer_number as cust_name,
    CR. Salary salary
    of customer_details cr
    where (case when ' > ' = ' > ' then ' cr.salary > 5000')
    When ' > ' = ' < ' then ' cr.salary < 5000'
    When ' > ' = '=' and then 'cr.salary = 5000'
    Another null
    (end);

    the expression in the when clause of the statement of the case, when comes from HQ and according to the choice I have to make the where clause.
    That is why, for the execution of the query, I put ' > ' in this place.

    If the original query will look like this (for reference):

    Select cr.customer_name. ' - ' || CR.customer_number as cust_name,
    CR. Salary salary
    of customer_details cr
    where (case when variable = ' > ' then ' cr.salary > 5000')
    When the variable = ' < ' then ' cr.salary < 5000'
    When the variable = '=' and then 'cr.salary = 5000'
    Another null
    (end);

    so, in a real case, if the user selects ' > ' then the filter will be ' where cr.salary > 5000.
    If the user selects ' < ' then the filter will be ' where cr.salary < 5000.
    If the user selects '=', then the filter will be 'where cr.salary = 5000 '.

    but I get the error "ORA 00920:invalid relational operator.

    Help, please... Thanks in advance...

    Hello

    select cr.customer_name || ' - ' ||cr.customer_number as cust_name,

  • Size of partition on interval range partitioned Table happens when SYSDATE is used in a Where Clause

    We have tables interval range partitioned on a DATE, with a partition for each day column - very standard and straight out of doc Oracle.

    A 3rd party application queries the tables to find the number of rows based on the date range that is located on the column used for the partition key.

    This application uses the date range specified from the current date - i.e. for last two days would be «...» StartDate > SYSDATE-2 "- but the partition size is irrelevant and the explain command plan shows that each partition is included."

    In presenting the request uses the date in a variable partition size location and query table is obviously much better.

    DB is 11.2.0.3 on RHEL6, and default settings - i.e. nothing that could influence the behavior of the optimizer to something unusual.

    I can't work on why this would be the case. It is very easy to reproduce with cases of simple test below.

    I would be very interested to hear any views on why it's that way and if anything can be done to allow the size of the partition to work with a query including SYSDATE because it would be difficult to get the application code has changed.

    In addition to make a case to change the code, I need an explanation of why query using SYSDATE is not advisable and I know this information.

    BEGIN
        FOR i IN 1..1000000
        LOOP
            INSERT INTO part_test (id, starttime) VALUES (i, SYSDATE - DBMS_RANDOM.value(low => 1, high => 10));

    EXEC dbms_stats.gather_table_stats('SUPER_CONF','PART_TEST');

    sysdate is not constant and its value may change from time optimization of execution; but the optimizer can deduce that he will be a known running value and then produce a plan that will make the size of partition running.  This is the meaning of 'KEY' in the column pstart – the partition of departure will be known at run time and the size of partition will take place in order to eliminate the previous partitions.

  • Problems of execution of a SQL function with a variable in the WHERE clause

    Hello world!

    I have programmed a function that returns a boolean value based on the result of the SQL. It's the function:

    FUNCTION existe_secuencial (seq_name VARCHAR2) RETURN AS BOOLEAN

    cursor c2 is SELECT FROM all_sequences WHERE upper (sequence_name) = sequence_name' | seq_name | ' ;

    BEGIN

    OPEN c2;

    DBMS_OUTPUT. Put_line (nombre_seq);

    Get c2 INTO kk;

    If c2% NOTFOUND = True THEN

    RETURNS false;

    on the other

    RETURNS true;

    end if;

    END existe_secuencial;

    And I give the floor to the function of a procedure in this way:

    IF existe_secuencial ("SEQ_ARQUETA") = True THEN

    DBMS_OUTPUT. Put_line ('exists');

    ON THE OTHER

    DBMS_OUTPUT. Put_line ("' NOT exists");

    END IF;

    The probrem that this SQL is forced to return results because this sequence exists in the comic book, but is not, return me the FALSE value. What makes me mad is that if I change the second line of the function in this way:

    > > cursor c2 is SELECT FROM all_sequences WHERE upper (sequence_name) sequence_name ="SEQ_ARQUETA";

    It works find and return of sequence existing (real)

    Can someone help me please, I'm quite desperate to find what is the problem with that because I do not understand why if I built the slider with a variable returns no results so that if I do write it works...

    Thanks in advance!

    Frame you your variable in quotes, which makes the string literal ' |. ' seq_name | "rather than the content of the variable.

    I think that something like this would be an improvement.

    function existe_secuencial (seq_name VARCHAR2) return a Boolean value as

    number of exist_check: = 0;

    Start

    Start

    Select 1

    in exist_check

    of all_sequences

    where upper (sequence_name) = upper (seq_name);

    exception

    When no_data_found then

    null;

    end;

    return (exist_check = 1);

    end existe_secuencial;

    Finally managed to do work, adding DISTINCT to select.  I have pasted the SQL error in Google to begin with.  Laughing out loud!

    Code snippet work for anyone who comes across this thread...

    MERGE INTO TESTDTA. F4941 DST

    USING (SELECT DISTINCT TESTDTA. F4941. RSSHPN,

    TESTDTA. F4941. RSDSTN,

    TESTDTA. F4941. RSUMD1,

    TESTDTA. F4981. FHSHPN,

    TESTDTA. F4981. FHRTDQ,

    TESTDTA. F4981. FHUOM,

    TESTDTA. F4981. FHCGC1

    OF TESTDTA. F4941

    JOIN INTERNAL TESTDTA. F4981

    ON TESTDTA. F4941. RSSHPN = TESTDTA. F4981. FHSHPN

    AND TESTDTA. F4981. FHCGC1 = 'SAY') CBC

    on (DST. RSSHPN = SRC. FHSHPN)

    When matched then update

    SET DST. RSDSTN = SRC. FHRTDQ, SUMMER TIME. RSUMD1 = SRC. FHUOM;

    Thanks to everyone who helped with this.

  • Microsoft Fixit error "an error occurred during the download of one or more components and cannot run the Troubleshooter"

    Original title: cannot run FixIt.

    With the help of Vista Home Premium, sp2, 32-bit on Toshiba Satalite A135

    I tried for days to find a solution for the reason why I can't run software 'MR FIXIT' or "MICROSOFT FIXIT" auto diagnostic I downloaded several versions of the software and saved, but when I try to launch it I stopped.  The following message appears: "toubleshooting cannot continue b/c an error has occurred."  An error occurred during the download of one or more components and cannot run the troubleshooter. »
    These versions I've tried lately:
    microsoftfixit. Program.installuninstall.RNP.84258196752136210.7.1.Run
    microsoftfixit. Program.installuninstall.Run
    microsoftfixit. WinSecurity.fisc.8425861308153696.4.1.Run
    microsoftfixit. Wu.FISC.8425861308153696.4.2.run
    852581157233326805.5.1.run
    I don't know if the problem is related, but I was also impossible to install the download: security for microsoft .net 1.1 SP1 framework update... (kb2656353).  I tried to install this download since January of 2012.  The reason why I tried to use the auto diagnostic software should fix my problem of installation of the security update.  I remember somewhere along the way, getting the error message that some files were corrupt.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

  • Inconsistent results with Julian dates using OpenQuery

    We have a MS SQL Server using Oracle via a linked server using the OleDb driver.

    When I run the following query to MS SQL Server:

    Select * from OPENQUERY (GMENU, 'select to_char (to_date(''01-JAN-2015''), 'J') of the double')

    I get: 1721443

    When I run this query in Oracle: select to_char (to_date('01-JAN-2015'), 'J') of the double

    I get: 2457024

    Can someone explain how I can get consistent results? Specifically, I'm trying to run queries that use dates in the where clause, and it seems that the only way to do that is using Julien dates. I had it once before, but now it is glitchy because the results are not consistent.

    results change when you actually provide a format mask?

    Select to_char (to_date('01-JAN-2015','DD-MON-YYYY'), 'J') of the double
