Cannot save VMware Workstation 8 (for linux)

Hi all

I'm trying to register my workstation license 8, but the option "Enter Serial" is not available in the help, when I connect using the vSphere client.

Here is a picture of the Help menu when I connect with my vSphere client.

Thank you.

Of the screenshsot it seems to me that you do not use WS - so how could enter the license key for this product?  I don't know what the licensing is for vShere but it is a separate product, in my opinion, that there is another forum for vShere.

  • Cannot install vmware workstation 7!

    Hello

I'm not able to install the vmware workstation 7, I already workstation 6.5 installed on my machine, when I tried to install vmware 7, she didn't, so I tried to uninstall vmware 6.5 using Add/Remove programs and tried to install vmware 7 but once again, it failed with the error message. I have attached the error message. I try to install on windows vista Home premium 32-bit edition.

Also provide the installation/upgrade guide to level and correct uninstall for vmware, I met this kind of mistakes several times. It's weird that I cannot change the registry of vmware, even as an administrator.

Without more information, it is probably related to the known bug xkeymap.keycode in my computer at the moment.

Hi akpraveenand welcome to the VMware communities!

Your laptop has Avast! Antivirus installed?  We have seen some recent reports of Avast! origin of the failure you see there.  If you have Avast! installed, you will need to uninstall temporarily to be able to install VMware Workstation (disabling Avast! is not enough).

If you use another system antivirus or antimalware software, it may be interesting to try to disable it during the installation of VMware Workstation.

Let us know if that solved the problem for you!

  • VMWare Workstation Lab for VCP, online options

    Hello

Someone at - it a laboratory ESX or ESXi secure Channel in VMWare Workstation installation? I want to install a couple of ESX? ESXi hosts to perform vmotion, DRS, etc but I got contradictory about whether VMware information if possible. I do not expect to be supported.

I would be grateful anyway - of. If this is not possible, I would that all recommendations for affordable online labs.

    Thank you

    Robert

    Hello...

I followed what Sean Duffy suggested here:

    http://www.simple-talk.com/sysadmin/virtualization/VMware-Lab-Setup---a-virtualized-lab-for-testing-HA-and-DRS/

    Worked a treat.

I am currently running under workstation 8.

    • 2 * servers Windows 2008 (Server AD & VC)
    • A NAS
    • 2 * ESXi hosts

I then nest my virtual machines under ESXi hosts and can test all the features I need.

    My PC spec is:

    CPU - I7 2600 K

    RAM - 16 GB

Storage - 120 GB SSD for the VMDK. I was running on my NetGear readyNAS, but found the performance was a little painful, especially when turning on/off or suspend the VMs (UN).

My only complaint is that my VMWare Workstation expired evaluation license and currently waiting for my license after having passed my VCP. (even if it's another story/thread)

For my Windows servers, I have a technet subscription.

For ESXi, I'll have to re - install, but it's no biggie.

I would like to see VMTN subscriptions available, but again, this is another thread.

  • Cannot install VMWare Workstation 8 on Windows 7

    Hello

Here we have a serious problem.

    We are trying to install the current version of VMWareWS8 (VMware-workstation-full - 8.0.1 - 528992) on windows 7 (acer aspire X 3990).

During the installation process, an error: impossible to retrieve the installation path

Error 1314. The specified path %COMMON_DOCUMENTS%\Shared computers virtual is not available

followed by an another popup to error:

    The MSI 'C:\Users\dafunker\AppData\Local\Temp\vmware_1326209137\vmware workstation.msi' failed

Error 1314. The specified path %COMMON_DOCUMENTS%\Shared computers virtual is not available

We have successfully installed the same version of VMWare on the same model of computer (acer aspire X 3990) on windows 7 too, it worked like a charm (even without 'COMMON_DOCUMENTS' set env variable).

    I tried different things:

    -no firewall, no antivirus

    -run as administrator

-define a valid common env var documents

None of these things have been successful.

The newspaper vminstall is attached to this post

    Thank you for the help

    Hello and welcome

    I'll try this...
    Open regedit as an administrator
find the key VMware, Inc. - on 32-bit hosts which is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.
    It has a subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\Installer\VMware workstation
with a DATASTORE_PATH subkey that uses a value like "G:\\shared-vms".

If you set to a path that fits your needs, the installation can run.

While you're there... Check the permissions on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.
VMware Workstation installers like to mess up the permissions for this key

  • Cannot install VMWare Workstation on Windows 7 64 bit

I recently had to completely reinstall the operating system on a Dell Dimension 9200 with 4 GB of ram. There were originally 32-bit Vista installed by Dell. VMWare Workstation has worked well. I upgraded (in place) for Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit and VMWare continued to work. Recently I had to blow the OS and reinstall. I reinstalled with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and now I can not install VMWare Workstation Version 7.1.1. I also tried an older version with the same problem.

I get the UAC prompt and then after some disk activity I get the Microsoft saying "VMWare Workstation has stopped working" giving options (found nothing) solution, close or debug dialog. I tried without UAC turned and no firewall with the same question.

Any ideas on how I can find this?

    Pete

Because I had to reinstall the OS, I went to 64-bit, because I have a few apps I need to write 64-bit to 64-bit (Server 2008 R2) that applications servers

You can run 32-bit Wokstation.  Still, you can virtualize a VM 64 bit on 32-bit workstation.  So do your apps in the virtual machine.

  • K6V69AV #ABA: HP Desktop 500-520qe: cannot install VMWare Workstation

I try to install the virtual machine using vmware workstation or vmware player.  But it gives me the message saying Intel vt - x is not enabled. I've seen a few videos youtube that says that I need to enable virtualization, but I don't seem to have seen.  Can anyone suggest if there is something else?

    Hello

Open the command run and enter: MSINFO32

The returned information will tell you if virtualization is enabled.  If this isn't the case, then you need to make a change in the BIOS to turn on VT is defined by default to disable.  See the image below.

You want to install VMware Workstation 11.1.1 on new 8.1 Windows Pro 64-bit PC.

I had VMware Workstation 11.1.0, and deleted the original installer but did not finish the installation of the new version

The installer gets about 2/3 way (progress bar) and then crashes, Windows Installer says Event Viewer hung.

Race tried without firewall and AV, always not install question

A ran the installer with / clean option and then tried again, but still he did not finish the installation process (crashes at the same place)

Noticed in the Manager tasks that VMware Installer runs at about 14% of CPU, but nothing happens

I'm really at a loss as to why I can't install VMware Workstation 11.1.1, all the other soft\ware settles very well.

  • Cannot install VmWare Workstation [index.htm error]

    Greetings and respect, community.

I'm having a problem installing VMWare Workstation 7 or 8...

Errors occur before the installation can be performed.

    I enclose the photos.

During installation, vmware1.jpg comes up with an error.

When I click Yes or no, vmware2.jpg sometimes... And all I can do is to kill the process...

    Can you assist?

I deleted TEMP files. I changed the TEMP/TMP by default default path. I did everything that I could find about this error.

Windows 7 32 bit fully implemented to date.

    4 GB DD3 Ram

    1 GB nvidia GTS250

Programs running in the status bar:

Shadow Defender, FRAPS, Asus GamerOSD, Volumouse, Unlocker Assistant, Nokia Ovi Suite, an Astrology, LightScribe Control Panel program, Realtek HD Audio manager, the Bluetooth Manager, Nvidia settings, software informer, Badoo Desktop 1.6.38, Karen Replicator, Norton DNS, VLC Player [listening mass effect 1 OST], MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD Manager, Comodo Internet Security Premium 5.5, Task Killer, Virtual CD v10, Malwarebytes Antimalware 1.51.2.1300, Sandboxie Control , TuneUp Utilities, power icon [Windows 7], Action Center [Windows 7], the [Windows 7] connection icon, its icon [Windows 7], Auslogics Disk Defrag, Usb Safelly remove, Dropbox, Bittorrent client.

How I read it, it is rather:

    Setup.exe /s /v "ADDLOCAL = ALL/qn".

"/Qn" passage to the installer should (hopefully it) bypass the Setup screens and install completely in the background.

IIRC, this is usually when you also have the active HYPER V role.

On my 2008 R2 installation, I have a startup option that disables HYPER V for the next reboot

  • Stuck at 50% after battery saver mode have changed for Linux.

    Hello

When I had installed on my X 1/2 G W7P, I turned on the battery saver mode.

Later, I decided to change the Linux operating system and has not changed this back to normal

operating on battery and Linux (Debian) seems only to charge the battery at 50%.

First of all, it is in fact a matter of strives Windows and second, is there a command

or option in the BIOS that resets the battery to full charge mode?

    TIA.

    Additional...

TLP do not work on systems with sandtbridge or newer.

Which, I believe, includes the 1/2 G X. However, another

Manager power exists that can work.
