Overview of VMware VIew Client for Linux

Hey everybody

  • Problems with the module supplier of personalized identification information and overview of VMware View Client working together

I have a Horizon of VMware View client that connects me HVD Windows 7. So when I give view client Vmware Horizon my credentials, it auto logs me. I also created a custom credential provider that works on Windows 7 PC. When I install the custom in the HVD credentials provider, it works if I am already connected to HVD and I simulate CTRL + ALT + DELETE. Can I use my credential provider to "unlock" in. However, if I disconnect of HVD and try to connect using VMware Horizon View client to connect to Windows 7 of HVD, it gets stuck on the screen of the tile. I see the VMware SSO user tile but nothing happens when I click it. Then, I use my provider of customized credentials to connect. I expect to bypass my ISP credentials on the first connection and self as before.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks for your help.

OK, I did some more troubleshooting and discovered that it was a problem with auto connection set to TRUE on my side of custom credentials provider (I pbAutoLogonWithDefault to TRUE). Since I still like it TRUE, I had originally set it to FALSE and then change for REAL once my credential provider was used.

    Thank you!

  • Overview of VMware View Client 2.1 crash during the connection to the pool offices

To Horizon View Client updated to version 2.0 2.1, whenever I try to connect to the pool of offices after the connection to the login server, it remains on the 'connection '. "message for a bit before it crashes. This has been the case regardless of which server the connection that I use. Are there others who is to have this similar problem with the new version of the OS X client?

Thank you, solgae. Team may have found the cause, so there is a patch which includes patches, could help you to check?

    1. backup of the libpcoip_client.dylib in the directory "/ Applications/Horizon of VMware View Client.app/Contents/PlugIns/PCoIPVMView.bundle/Contents/MacOS.

    2. replace by the task libpcoip_client.dylib.

    3. If this patch does not work, please provide the journal.

  • View Client for Linux, stay connected after disconnect

I have a large lot of IGEL Linux thin clients, and I have them updated to the latest version which includes the latest version of Linux client to view.

The default behavior of the application is not to go out when a connection to a virtual machine descends from the intentional log out of the virtual machine.  This is crazy, because the Windows version of the leave application automatically demand the closing of the session of the view.

This means that when my users log out of their VM because they are trained, the thin client is left to a State after the entry password and before the selection of the pool.  The next person to use the workstation would have access to their account.

It makes no sense at all.  How to change to exit the application?  Until I change it, my Linux thin clients are useless.

    Hello

According to Aaron, it works as expected.

BUT, we did a way to change the behavior of the Client.

    Please consult this document:

    https://www.VMware.com/PDF/view-client-Linux-document.PDF

On page 22, you will find the explanation of the parameter "-once."

Specifies that you don't want to see Client to retry the connection in the case of an error occurring.
Use - once if you want to get a workflow similar to the view client 4.6. This option will force the client to view to exit once the user disconnects or logs off of a desktop computer.
You generally must specify this option if you are using the kiosk mode and use the exit code to handle the error. Otherwise, you might find it difficult to kill the vmware-view process remotely.
If you set the configuration key, specify "TRUE" or "FALSE". Default value is "FALSE".

You can use it like this (tested on an Ubuntu machine):

-Open a terminal and run 'vmware-view - once'

    or

-Change the file in the home folder of the user, called: .vmware/view-preferences

    -Add the line: view.once = 'TRUE '.

For the client to hedgehogs, or all other types/brands/models, I don't know if you can access and apply the changes, so I recommend contacting technical support of these devices.

    Hope this helps,

    Kind regards

  • Ports and Destination for VMware View Client

    Hi all

I'm looking for a quick bit of help if possible please...

    Environment: VMware View 4.5

    Question / Info needed:

Two companies having a bond of trust between data transfer etc. and resources share. We need access to a site through their firewall in the bond of trust to connect to the VMware View VDI Office.  Customers using VMware View Client.

The question is, if we get the site to enable port 443 to our broker connection I assume this will not be enough?  It must be possible to:

    443 to connection broker

    32111 (redirect USB) to?

    9427 (multimedia redirection) to?

    4172 (PCoIP) to?

    3389 (RDP if used) to?

This may all sound a bit novicy but I need to be 100% before you go test.

    Thanks in advance.

So using the brokers of the connection in direct mode without any security server.   I think that it would look like this.

    443 to connection broker

    32111 VDI Desktop

    9427 multimedia redirection) to?

    4172 VDI Desktop

    3389 VDI Desktop

  • Help with renovation Horizon View client for Mac

I'm packaging the client VMware View Horizon for our Mac desktops and laptops (we have about 150). Normally, it is a very simple and very easy process with this client because it is just a soft. We use Apple PackageMaker to repackage the Horizon of VMware View Client.appand add the plist for the test user for the deployment of future users profiles. We used some com.vmware.view.plist in the past to ensure that our connection to the server is prefilled and force PCoIP. It has worked great for us with all < 2.3 versions.

From 2.3 and 3.0 now, I have not been able to repackage the application correctly. I have download the .dmg to VMware and copy the .app in it in / applications; This is exactly how a user would install it on their system. I run the Client discovers once and connect to our login server using the settings I want to paste when you deploy this application to our machines. Then using PackageMaker, I point the first part of the package that will be created for Applications/Vmware view Horizon Client.app as usual (including the roots). It's normal. I choose com.vmware.view.plist file, and I'm using a plist Editor, delete the entry for my test user name and office that I'm connected to. In PackageMaker, the destination of this .plist file is in the default profile for the mac - so whenever a new user connects to the mac, they will receive the file .plist with the parameters we want. Sounds good. The package is built successfully. I deploy it on a machine to test successfully.

    When I connect on a test system and run the client from the view, I can connect properly. If I try to use the menu connection/printing enabled, all hell breaks loose and I get a series of errors;

    Invalid file in the package.

    The file is not valid:

    / Applications/VMware Horizon view Client.app/Contents/Library/thnuclnt/thnusetup.sh.

    Please download the official product.

    If I try to start services remotely USB, I get a similar error once it issues a warning that I will be asked to enter the credentials of the admin;

    Invalid file in the package.

    The file is not valid:

    / Applications/VMware Horizon view Client.app/Contents/Library/InitUsbServices.tool.

    Please download the official product.

?? If I run the app from the .dmg on this same machine, I have no problem. Any ideas?

OK, I just had to put the question so that I could think clearly through it.

There are some extended attributes on these shell scripts that PackageMaker removes when it reconditions the app. I conditioned as a .dmg, and copy the app via the postinstall script in the pkg... works very well after that.

  • SSH Tunnel on VMWare View Client

I use the VMWare View Client on my Mac to connect to a Windows box in the behind a network business, then SSH for some internal network UNIX boxes. I really despise having to use Putty on Windows.

Is there anyway I can use my native terminal under OSX (iTerm) to connect to the Unix boxes into the internal network? Is there a way to make the SSH tunnel runs on the client to view?

  • VMware View Client Logo/skin

We did it with other products before, but curious if we can change the skin of the Horizon of VMware View Client to something more exclusive to our society, such as our logo or by putting the name of the company in there.  We would also like to do on the Clients of zero if possible Teradici.

Anyone done this?  I watched the local folder 'skins' under the program VMware View\Client, but these are the old skins (don't know why they are still there).

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know if you should still do this, but I was able to achieve earlier on the VMware View client.  I discovered this by accident when I 'played '.  Within the facility there is a dll called wswc_en_us_409, it is in C:\Program VMware View\Client\bin.  You will need an application that will be able to open the dll, I think I used Microsoft Visual Studio.  In there is a bitmap (I think it's a bitmap) of the VMware View logo that appears on the client from the view.  If you create a bitmap with the same size, you should be able to replace it.  It worked on older versions of view, I do not know if it works on the latest version.

To do this on customers of zero Teradici much easier.  In the profile on the management console, there is a parameter named profile OSD Logo which will allow you to upload an image.  You will need to set the OSD Logo to use for setting banner Login to true.

  • Overview of VMware View PCoIP

    Hello

We have a test lab test view VMware Horizon on a test environment however we find that the following questions.

When is connected through the vmware view client, enter the user name and then select on the desktop, we find that the following two errors:

he tries to connect to the desktop computer, then we get a black screen, then a prompt that shows the end of the connection to the remote computer.

The other mistake that we get is "the Protocol to display for this office is currently unavailable, so if we click try again we get the black screen and then the same error message ended with the connection to the remote computer.

If we choose RDP, it works.

This configuration is configured as follows:

    (material f/w)                                      (Win7) (Windows Firewall)

    Client application VMware > > > Firewall > > > > connect to server > > > > Virtual Office

Firewall hardware ports 443 has sent to the login server

Hardware firewall has ports open 4172 server to connect to the virtual desktop

Virtual office has ports open virtual desktop to connect to the server of 4172

    am I missing something?

What we are seeing with RDP, is that she's bad performance on YouTube and by displaying the web

  • You must use view client for windows to access view server connection"

When I go to my security on the outside, I get a message in 5.1, but 5.0 would simply run the installation of the client.  Is this new 5.1?  "You must use view client for windows to access the server view connection."

Well Yes new feature. Is VMware view Client unbundling

    Take a look at

    http://www.VMware.com/files/PDF/view/VMware-view-evaluators-Guide.PDF

    from pg 87

    On page 88, he says

Portal of the view on the login server see the landing Page

The URL root view connection server is hosting a view portal or download customer portal, as the default value, the destination page. The page contains instructions to launch an existing customer of the view and a link to a download page to the VMware.com website that contains a client compatible with the detected operating system version.

The portal of the view is more directly initiates a Client installation view, but instead allows the user to manually call the installation process.

  • VMware View Client can 'close' host Windows 7?

Can VMware View Client 4.6 'close' a client Windows 7 physical host device when it is turned on (Thin Client or desktop running Windows 7)? The behavior desired is to let the user simply turn on their thin Client or a desktop computer running Windows 7 Starter Edition or another version of Windows and not Windows desktop appears. The VMware View client connects directly to the broker and then to the VM user login screen? The customer or the user of the Dektop can simply access the connection of the user view not the physical host Windows box?

For XP/XPe installed locally on you thin client, you can change the default shell of Explorer to wswc.exe (Customer View). More information about this you can read here: http://blogs.vmware.com/view/2009/02/vmware-view-client-as-a-shell-for-xpe-and-xp-pro-clients.html

According to me, this thing with some addition settings should work with Win 7.

There is also some proprietary software, for example: http://www.thinlaunch.com/thin-desktop-client.asp
