Cannot start normally after target disk Mode

I received a 'new' 2015 documents transferring manually, Macbook Pro and I am. media and other elements of my Macbook Air from mid-2012. I put my MBA in disc Mode target to easily transfer files via Thunderbolt, but now I can't start my MBA normally - it's booting into OSX utility. I tried to close a few times, I tried to go up while pressing Option, nothing seems to work. [I am able, start-up by pressing T, to back up in target disk Mode.]

Am I missing something? How can I get my MBA operate again as a normal computer? Thank you.

Is it possible that you moved * elements of the MBA to MBP instead of copy them? When one of these "other elements" outside your user folder?

* This means: hold the command key while dragging.

I'm trying to restore a disk from MacBook Pro from a backup, but my PowerMac Pro does not seem to recognize the MacBook Pro in target disk mode.  I have a FireWire 800 cable and adapter to the thunderbolt FireWire 800 port.  Is there something more I should do to get the Mac Pro power to recognize the MacBook Pro in disc mode target like an external hard drive?

  • Check out the Photos (target disk mode) files

Unfortunately, it seems that my iMac is damaged and I am in the middle of the tent back up all my files. The iMac won't boot to the top, and it looks like it might be a problem with the graphics card or the logic board. I can access Mode without failure, but it's pretty unusable due to the fragmented picture and lines on the screen. However, I was able to use the iMac with "Target disk Mode" for use as a hard disk.

So, as I can not open the Photos app I was wondering how I can recover the files it contains? If I copy my file from the library on another computer I will be able to use / access that previous files I had saved in Photos? My understanding is that the files are stored somewhere in the library? I do not use iCloud!

Most of the things I want to back up are in the files that I can just slide through a macbook via firewire, but I worry about what the other files I might lose (what I forget). Pictures is the only app I can think where are stored the files differently I use however.

It would be great if someone can help with this, thanks in advance

    Usually Yes

The best solution is to restore you last backup to another computer, since it is a full disc and not affected by problems with your main computer - this is why you should always have a good current backup

If for some reason that doesn't work then just drag the photo library to the other computer and save it to the top of there

Extract the files is a last resort because you lose everything except the original photos - all editing, any organization, etc - your original photos are in the folder of the masters in the photo library

  • Satellite p205-s8811 won't start normally or in safe mode just automatically get a black screen

I started my computer and start the recovery window came. I ran it and it has to solve the problem and computer ran very well. I stopped him and 6 hours more later powered on and the same thing. Startup recovery ran and solved the problem again.  When I looked in the log recovery startup errors he says that there are changes not specified for the configuration of the system. So I decied to do a system restore. The system restore ran, off, rebooted computer and when to start the toshiba system came on the screen. Then went black and never started window. For hard drive light was illuminated as normal, then slowed down, would be possible, and eventually it would flicker just a little more. The screen is black, but you can see the cursor. I pressed the switch to turn on, turn off, wait a little bit. Then turned on and got the screen to start normally, safe mode, safemode promt, European round table. I chose safe mode and it and all the config system starts to roll across the screen, then screen turned black and nothing else happened. So I tried again and chose to start windows normally, but the same thing. Toshiba comes through screen\, hard disk, running, but nothing but a black screen. I don't know if I app\drivers and recovery discs and don't know if it's even the fix. I could really use some help with this. I "ve been out of work for six months due to motorcycle wreck and do not have the funds for the nine. Plese I want to know if it's fixable. Thank you

  • Re: Satellite L310 - cannot start from the HARD disk

    Hello

My L310 just died on me yesterday. My system just can not start, not even in Safe Mode. And it keeps trying to start using my network card, not through hard drive.

I put the BIOS default settings, but it does not help.

And she has this tone to loud continuous beep when it tries to start using the network card. A continuous beep, even on the screen of the BIOS and in safe mode.

I chose the hard drive manually, but he keeps trying to start through the network adapter.

And the laptop does not meet the keyboard. Even with a keyboard external usb. When I sometimes managed to boot my system on the rare occasion, I get to the login screen and cannot button my password.

    Does anyone have similar problems?

    Let me know. Thank you!

Looks like your HARD drive is defective. BIOS recognize it?
You should test the disk with Drive Fitness Test. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT

Check this box and give us feedback. Maybe the HARD drive needs to be replaced.

On the keyboard issue it is not easy to say what are the causes of the problem, but in the worst case that he should be replaced also. :(

  • Problems to start normally or in safe mode

When I try to start the computer, I am presented with a black screen that has a small connection box to ask me my username and password. In a field, the options will appear. I have a slider and a mouse. The log in box provided me with "Steve" as a username, but I don't know what my user name for some because it usually connects me without my ever see a login prompt. If I enter a blank password, I am provided with the error message "logon message the system could not connect on make you that the user name and domain are correct.

If I connect normally or in safe mode, I get the same errors.

I started getting this error after tinkering with some network settings, try to connect to a wifi from the airport.

Looks like you had the system connect automatically and don't forget your password.  It has been so long that you have forgotten your password.  At the login prompt, try entering the 'administrator' user and leave the password empty.  He is by default the built-in administrator.  If this opens a session, you can use this account to reset your password to user "Steve".  If you are unable to log in as an administrator, then you must find the disc to reset your password or start remembering your old password.

  • Cannot start windows Vista in safe mode.

I followed these instructions to start Windows 7 in safe mode:

I tried to start windows vista in safe mode by using the following:

    1. Click on the Windows icon in the left bottom of the screen while Windows is running in normal mode.
    2. Click on the arrow located to the right of the lock at the bottom of the popup menu symbol
    3. Choose "restart".
    4. I restart the computer, press the F8 key and hold.  I tried at the beginning of the sequence to reboot and after that the light appears on the mouse, but still before the windows logo appears.
    5. Restart the computer in normal mode.
    6. I tried the key down and also tried pressing the F8 key several times both giving the same results without success.
    7. To eliminate the possibility of a bad keyboard, I switched from keyboards with the same results.

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

    You tap f8.

You can have a F-Lock key in the upper right corner of your keyboard.

  • Cannot start Windows after log-in initial screening... screen is blank

Out of the Blue yesterday, I was unable to boot WIndows 7 and I've now exhausted everything that I can find to get help.  Here's what happens: turned on computer, screen load with "starting windows" and windows icon hits the screen.  The login page is displayed (daisy aqua orange screen).  I get my login password.  The next screen is "Welcome" (background aqua), then whites out screen just for one second (really a flash), which he has never done before.  Then around the top of the 'Welcome' window comes with the circle of blue rotation... spins & turns but nothing going forward.  Then a black screen appears after some time that says: "Please wait" in the middle of the screen (never seen it before either).  While blanks on and there is nothing else but a black screen.  I waited forever, thought there was a minor problem and Windows would finally load but nothing.  I'm working now to try to fix it, nothing helps.  I am currently in Safe Mode, which is all I can be right now, and the system does very well in this mode.  I checked the bios to see if my hard drive has been registered, and it was.  I "ve restored my system to 3 weeks (before some updates) and that didn't work either.  I downloaded HP Vision diagnostic on a CD and that ran through the whole system and nothing has been revealed that needed fixing or change.  So I did a HP recovery disk, thinking I can delete my system whole back to factory settings, but I'm afraid to do because I don't know if Windows 7 is on the recovery disk and what will I do if not?  Sorry, it's very long, but I'm frustrated and don't know what to try now.  Can anyone help! ??  Thanks in advance.

    c. KB2975719

    d. KB2975331

Alternatively, you can order the CD from recovery for your computer by following this resource on obtaining a HP recovery discs or a USB HP recovery disk.

If the problem persists, I recommend to perform a backup and restore of your operating system. • I want to connect an iMac 2009 end to a 5K iMac using target disk mode. I have several related questions.

The display on my 2009 iMac has stopped working two years ago and I replaced the machine with an iMac of 5 K. At the time I realized that it was not possible to connect the two machines in disc mode target but today I heard the Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter and started to pursue the investigation.

The hard drive on the iMac 2009 has worked when I he turned on last 2 years ago, but I couldn't see stripped lines colored screen.

    1. is it possible to restore a Bluetooth for the keyboard and mouse when I don't see what is happening? (I removed a long time ago the batteries to store them.)

2 do I need to use a mouse and a keyboard on the older iMac if all I want to do file transfer between two iMacs using the 5 K as the master of the machine? I expect that the answer is yes because I need to hold down the T key as I start the older iMac in order to Target mode, but could someone confirm it's inevitable? (Where Q1.)

3 others managed to make the connection in similar circumstances, with a Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter? Is it that I have to be wary?

    Thank you.

  • iMac 27 "retina (end of 2015) with target disk Mode Macbook Pro?

    Hello

I am interested in buying an iMac 27 "5 k retina (end of 2015) my household has also two early 2011 15" Macbook Pro, which are still in use.

I understand that this iMac no longer manages the target Display Mode. As I am unable to use the iMac as an external display for my Macbook, would it be possible instead, connect via Thunderbolt, a Macbook to the iMac, and access only to files hang when necessary?

If this can complicate things, I am limited as to how I can custom configure how to buy the iMac 27 "(je serais d'acheter la base 27" iMac, avec 1 to de disque DUR). " I also intend on buying an external SSD that I would use to run/start the iMac, using the drive HARD internal to the iMac as ' dedicated local storage'otential

EDIT: Would there be potential problems? I would be able to access just like I would if I say it, hooked to a USB key? If I was working on the files, I need to import them to the iMac or be able to work directly from the drive?

    Yes.

  • Cannot start with using F8 safe mode. Of alternatives please?

The PC will not start in Safe Mode; When you use F8, the only option available in the Boot menu is 'select the first boot device. I have the hard drive and click on "enter", but the PC then starts as usual. Can I run Safe Mode otherwise?

There are malicious software that recognizes the/SafeBoot switch in the boot.ini file, and if both are present (the/SafeBoot and malware), the system starts up again in any mode until you remove the file boot.ini with the switch/SafeBoot.   Maybe this isn't the case here.

Some malware knows you try to use the Safe Mode to find and eliminate and he won't you find and eliminate and will detect the/SafeBoot switch.    It will keep you from boot mode safe to fool you into thinking that you are using a Point of restoration., do a repair installation, or install your XP from scratch (neither of which is never necessary).

The symptom of this affliction is the following (which can be something else with similar symptoms):

    Starting Windows...
    Loading your personal settings...
    Once your settings...
    End the session...
    Loading your personal settings...
    Once your settings...
    End the session...

Just FYE (for your pleasure)...  I used to love the switch/SafeBoot, but will never suggest or recommend again because sometimes you will have a bigger (but fixable) problem :)

Add the switch/SafeBoot can fix the symptom of the problem (now able to start safe mode), but will not fix the real problem, that of why F8 seems to be wrong or is misunderstood.
