Cannot start Windows after log-in initial screening... screen is blank

Out of the Blue yesterday, I was unable to boot WIndows 7 and I've now exhausted everything that I can find to get help.  Here's what happens: turned on computer, screen load with "starting windows" and windows icon hits the screen.  The login page is displayed (daisy aqua orange screen).  I get my login password.  The next screen is "Welcome" (background aqua), then whites out screen just for one second (really a flash), which he has never done before.  Then around the top of the 'Welcome' window comes with the circle of blue rotation... spins & turns but nothing going forward.  Then a black screen appears after some time that says: "Please wait" in the middle of the screen (never seen it before either).  While blanks on and there is nothing else but a black screen.  I waited forever, thought there was a minor problem and Windows would finally load but nothing.  I'm working now to try to fix it, nothing helps.  I am currently in Safe Mode, which is all I can be right now, and the system does very well in this mode.  I checked the bios to see if my hard drive has been registered, and it was.  I "ve restored my system to 3 weeks (before some updates) and that didn't work either.  I downloaded HP Vision diagnostic on a CD and that ran through the whole system and nothing has been revealed that needed fixing or change.  So I did a HP recovery disk, thinking I can delete my system whole back to factory settings, but I'm afraid to do because I don't know if Windows 7 is on the recovery disk and what will I do if not?  Sorry, it's very long, but I'm frustrated and don't know what to try now.  Can anyone help! ??  Thanks in advance.

Hi @Annie777,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I read your post on how your desktop off intermittently when you load into windows, that the problem does not occur in Mode without failure, and I would be happy to help you!

To ensure that this issue has nothing to do with the material, I advise you to follow this document on Troubleshooting overheating and the issue of Auto Shutdown.

The next step that I suggest is to start the PC in Safe Mode of Windows 7 and uninstall the following updates:

a. KB2982791

b. KB2970228

c. KB2975719

d. KB2975331

In addition, you can also follow the steps in this document on the using Microsoft System Configuration (Windows 7). This should help to turn off non-Microsoft services or background programs.

Alternatively, you can order the CD from recovery for your computer by following this resource on obtaining a HP recovery discs or a USB HP recovery disk.

If the problem persists, I recommend to perform a backup and restore of your operating system. To do this, please follow this document on the backup of files (Windows 7), and more to perform a recovery of the system HP (Windows 7). This should help to restore your system to the factory settings.

  • Cannot start Windows after trying to install the Vista SP2

I just tried to install Vista SP2 and now whenever I try to turn on the cpu it gives me a blue screen and restarts. It does allow me to start in SafeMode either. In addition, it seems to be impossible to find my restore points. I was able to stop the screen using the F8 menu and it gives me this error on the blue screen

    STOP: 0X0000007E (0XC0000005, 0X81C223BB, 0X803998F4, 0X803995F0)

For some reason, when I go to the cmd prompt to advanced troubleshooting guide, I can do, he says that I am the X and not the C drive, if that has something to do with my restore points does not.

I tried to get the menu of the restoration on C manually through C:\windows\system32\restore\, but nothing was there.

Any help would be appreciated. I will not lose rather all my data in a reformat.

    Thank you

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

    Hey,.

And why do you think the hard drive is faulty?
Have you ever tried the repair your computer option? Usually with this option you can restore factory in a few minutes.

Also if you have the Toshiba recovery disc you can also restore the factory of this disc. Just boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen. You need to do a few clicks only, installation with all the drivers and tools happen automatically.

If you have any other questions, please let us know! :)

  • Cannot start Windows, Windows Setup does not detect the hard disk, Bootmgr is misiing

I have a few problems on my laptop [Acer 3810 t]

    -The first problem
My mobile give me screen "cannot start windows' who have 2 choices: run the Startup Repair tool and boot normally. I chose to fix it, but nothing happens and stuck "starting windows" and gives unmountable boot volume 'blue screen '. the Dungeon of blues screen appear (for laptop is a not restart). So I turned off my phone and turn it back on it. the "could not start" screen again and I chose to start normally. but the result is negative. My portable Dungeon cannot start windows. Because of that I am using the advanced boot option and choose all the boot type such asit cannot load the safemode, last configuration etc, but the result is the same, you cannot start windows. in safe mode, its stuck in loading fileinfo.sys. I do not give up to try again with the advanced boot option. until I have a bad situation. My laptop can only 1 file in safe mode and blues screen do not appear again (my laptop only return at the beginning of start or restart)

    -The second problem
because it cant solved, I want to reinstall my laptop. My OS is Vista 32 bit (pre-installed). I want to install the new operating system, windows 7. I use Dsik Flash bootable USB to install Windows 7. But in the BIOS, it is detected as a USB HDD. So I set my BIOS to load USB HDD to the first order. the installation can be done, but only until the "start Setup" screen and its deadlock. I have it wait up to an hour, but nothing happens. So I'm going to BIOS, change SATA mode to IDE mode AHCI. Then load the USB and go "installation program start screen. but the new problem is the installation of window does not detect my hard drive. So I can not choose the place to install the operating system. I have to load the driver, but I did not. Again to load the configuration to AHCI and IDE, until I get my HDD can detected in IDE mode. So I think I can move easily, I choose custom installation and choose the hard drive to install the operating system. But unfortunately, at the beginning of the process, after choosing the OS, the Installer gives error if installation location the installation failed. (I forgot the error message)

    -The third problem
So far, I can't spend 'startup begins' as well in mode IDE and AHCI. Also bootmgr in my hard disk is missing, so I can't go to move the startup repair or the startup option in my HDD as before

What is the error code that you got with blue screen?

I think that there is a problem with your drive HARD check that by contacting acer...

    Hello

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

If that does not read this information

the link below is how to download and get a vista disk startup repair, which you can start from the

    Data recovery, if required

    1. remove the hard drive and it slave in another computer

    3. try Knoppix
