Cannot start virtual machines on Windows - get "internal error."

After restarting my computer, all the virtual machines in workstation that allows you to start now will no longer start.  Currently to get the super useless error message: "Internal error." which is of course totally shameful.

I uninstalled and reinstalled, tried searching for "cpuidHash" in my registry to reset, which curiously is not there as part of the services, I tried to remove / delete the VMEM and even tried to create a new VM and start it without an operating system and all attempts to start no VM result in the same message.  Also get the same error when trying to boot from VMware Player.

Key in the log error can be: "E105: PANIC: CHECK bora\vmcore\vmx\main\timeTracker_user.c:238 bugNr = 148722 '.

Any help on how to get VMware software to service is appreciated - thanks in advance!

Thank you Darius - had already tried.  It turns out that this specific response of spoonalious solved my problem.  Not sure what caused the problem in the 1st place, to my knowledge, nothing had changed, but after completing these steps and restart services the issue was resolved after much work.  VMware software are extremely fragile and breaks easily it seems:

New host PC - VM will start is more (internal error - VMWare Workstation 11)

Thanks to Darius and spoonalious for the position of solution!

  • URGENT! After installing 6 Fusion and creation of new virtual machine with Windows 7, I get a message "VMware Fusion cannot enter the unit". WHAT SHOULD DO?

After purchase, installation and activation Fusion 6 with the license key, I had a library of VMS showing 2 Boot Camp partitions. It's strange that I only have 1.
I tried to activate them but received a message that it is out of date in 2 cases. (see annex 1)

I started a new virtual machine with a Windows 7 installation disc directly on my HD. I have provided a way to do this and followed the instructions of Fusion to the screen.

Apparently, everything went well and after several restarts, the installation appears to be over (see annex 2) I tried to open and run the installed Windows 7. I had however a window with the following message:

    "Pending the unit.

"VMware Fusion cannot enter the unit. Please wait until the unit starts automatically, or interact with the virtual machine below. ' (see annex 3)

Here Windows 7 seems to start but after a while with the home screen and of the Øresund finishing this window closed and open a new window called library Virtual Machine on the left showing the partitions of Bootcamp and the Virtual Machine Windows 7 x 64 and in the middle gray a representation of what is supposed to be the Windows 7 desktop. (see Exhibit 4). When I opened the settings button a window with different setting options pops up. This mark means to me that Windows is installed but the final opening isn't the case

When you quit Vmware Fusion indeed Windows seems to be close (see part 5)

What is going on? What has gone wrong? What should I do? I don't know how to solve the problem.

I should f.i. remove the virtual machine from Windows 7 and is free automatically made partition on my HD as the reboot with the Windows installation disc? or y at - it another way to enter the UNIT?

    Help, please!

    Thanks in advance

Your virtual machine is running. It is in the unit - which each windows gets its own window of Mac - and you have no application Windows running, there is no visible windows. You can start a Windows application in the start of Fusion menu in the menu bar at the top right, or turn on the Windows task bar on the view menu and start applications from there. Or use the view menu to switch to the Single mode or full-screen, which puts all of your Windows desktop in a window separate from Mac.

You do not have two partitions to Boot Camp on your Mac, you have two virtual machines named "Boot Camp partition".

The message about it being unable to enter the unit arrives while the merger is pending for the tools begin to run, because the tool is necessary for the unit.

  • We get an error "this device cannot start" Code 10 on Windows 7.

Original title: USB not recognized verified work storage device

I have a 8 GB USB Flash drive that has, until recently, worked perfectly on several OSes including Windows 7 and 8. Recently, the player does not seem to want to work on one of my installations of Windows 7 on a PC (HP EliteBook 8470p).

I tried to reinstall the drivers for it on my machine specific windows 7 that does not work on. Device Manager gives me "this device cannot start. (Code 10) "even after reinstalling the drivers and reboot several times. I use also some virtual machines in Windows 7 and 8 on the same PC, and when connecting virtually the USB key to the virtual machine to Windows 7, I can't detect it. When you connect the device to the virtual machine from Windows 8, I can access the files and even format, so the USB ports on my computer are all functional.

To summarize, the device works in Windows 7 and 8 separate facilities of this computer, but does not work on 7 on my TI, if the main or virtualized operating system. The VM of Windows 8 on this computer can recognize the device.

Thanks for the answer, except that I discovered the problem. I checked upward in the disk management window, and I saw that the reader, for some reason, was not assigned a letter. After you manually assign the drive letter, all data on the disc is now available. Thanks anyway.

How the Virtual Machine has been backed up and restored?  If Time Machine then...

It is a known fact that Time Machine is not 100% reliable backing up/restoring VMS in all circumstances/conditions.  Also back up Virtual Machines via Time Machine of disk/time intensive and wastes a lot of space for something that may be corrupted and worthless time to restore it.  At least I would exclude the Virtual Machines with virtual machines and Time Machine shutdown, not suspended and VMware Fusion closed and then manually copy the VMS to another location, preferably on a different physical hard drive.  So keep the user data stored in the virtual machine saved out of the Virtual Machine on a regular basis in order to always have a backup of the current user data.  If you need to restore a properly saved by VM is not as common at least you will have a virtual working Machine and data user to go forward with when you find out your Time Machine backup of the virtual machine fails.  Also take a look at: best practices for backup of virtual machine (programs and data) in VMware Fusion (1013628)

That said, if you don't have a copy of the file "Windows 7 - f004.vmdk" and then to try to retrieve the data from the user, you can try the following:

Download then unzip it (double-click on) the joint "Windows_7 - f004.vmdk.zip" file that contains the file "Windows 7 - f004.vmdk ' an empty logical binary measure that has been created on the metric of the existing drive and add to the Package of the Virtual Machine.  This should allow the VHD to be considered as a virtual hard drive, assuming that there is no damage to the extent of the binary left headers.  Take a look on: work with Virtual Machine packages

At this point, that the VHD has the scope necessary to show as a full disk, assuming that it is not corrupt the header in other binary extensions and can now attempt to access for the recovery of user data.

There are several ways to try to retrieve user data.  The easy, although not necessarily work properly according to what now lack us due to replace the missing binary extensions with a logical empty measure, is trying to start the VM normally.  If the virtual machine starts up on the desk and VMware Tools load properly you should be able to copy your data to user off on a USB or slip and fall on the side of Mac or if you have a configured VMware folder then copy the files through it.

Other methods involve starting the Virtual Machine with a Live OS ISO Image and copy files from a USB key or temporarily assemble the VHD to another Virtual Machine work.

With the right tools installed the virtual hard disk could also be mounted as another accessible Volume through Finder.

    Hello

Last week, I decided to move from a Windows host based Linux system. So I went through my VMs their power off and copied to another drive. I then installed 7 Centos and reinstalled VMWare Workstation 12 re-imported the virtual machine in VMWare and I tried to start.

    I received the following message...

"Cannot change the power state of VM: internal error.

Suspicious, I looked at the folder that contains the machine virtual and noticed it contained snapshots. DOH!

I guess it is pretty bad, not sure where to start?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

I copied VM, with and without clichés, without problems. Have a few running on OSX Fusion so

The first thing I would check would be for folders and .lck files. If so, remove them.

  • Problems after resizing XP virtual machine: a Windows image not valid

After increasing my Windows XP virtual machine, I can't run Microsoft programs.

    My system

I am running XP as a virtual disk with Fusion 4.1.3 on a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard) with a drive of 500 GB and 4 GB of RAM.  My virtual machine from Windows XP (formatted FAT) has only 700 MB of free space, so I tried to increase its size from 32 GB to 48 GB.

    What I've done

    1. I increased the size of the HD in merger/disc settings

    2. the virtual machine does not resize automatically.  Messages to OS X Console says repeatedly that the virtual machine was no resizing applications ("' NUMA: auto size request ignored '")

    3. I then used EaseUS Partition Master in Windows XP to increase the use of the newly released hard drive space, but the extra space would never appear after reboot XP

    4. I then tried Partition Wizard, that worked.  So that resizing Partition Wizard was also moving files.

    The problem:

When I restarted Windows, I got several error messages saying that the dll is not a valid windows image.  I couldn't run all Microsoft programs (Outlook, Excel, etc.) but can run non-Microsoft programs after clicking through many error reports.

Fortunately, I made a copy of the virtual machine before attempting to resize, so I use it now.  But I lost 12 GB on my Mac hard drive and cannot get enough space in Windows

Any thoughts out there so that I could get enough space?

It is good that you made a backup, because even in the best conditions can things and sometimes lack.

Since you had questions, go right to work, in other words, the first step to actually make the larger virtual hard drive, I have consider doing the following.

    1. ensure that you have a backup full host.  Time Machine is great for Mac OS X but not for Virtual Machines.  For the Virtual Machines, you must make a copy while closed stop, unsprung, and VMware Fusion.  Once you are sure that have everything backed up properly...

    2. use utility disk to verify disk permissions, disk check and optionally repair either or both based on audit reports.

    3. use vmware-vdiskmanager with the -r option to check the integrity of the virtual hard disk.

    4. from the guest operating system in a Windows prompt command use chkdsk /f to check and fix a problem with the Windows file system.

    5. try to resize the virtual hard disk again.

  • Virtual machine from Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional

Two years ago the virtual machine from Windows XP was installed on my laptop which has Windows 7 Professional.  I use version XP for playing games is not compatible on Windows 7.  Everything worked well until a few weeks ago.  I was unable to open the games.  An error message window is displayed when I click to start the game.  "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG. • Virtual machine from Windows 8 not found

Performance of Fusion 5.0.2 with Lion mountain on a MBPro.  Created a Windows 8 VM and all seemed well.  I got a message today when Windows 8 was running.  I don't remember what he said, but he indicated that the VM could not suspend due to the fact that a name had changed.   I closed my programs and stop windows 8 wth no descendants.  I stopped VM and rebooted.  Now, when the Virtual Machine library appears it shows Windows 8, but it is not found, said. Can someone help me solve this problem.  I hope I don't have to rebuild the virtual machine.  Thank you very much.  Dave

According to the support group, the "/ Users/klodigensky/Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/vmInventory ' file all of the Virtual Machine must be located in" / users/klodigensky/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized / Windows 8.vmwarevm»  Note that by default, .localized extensions and .vmwarevm are hidden.

I guess it's is gone which means it has been moved or deleted and you looked in the trash for her?

Also if he was moved accidentally, you should be able to find it in a Terminal by using the following command:

    mdfind .vmwarevm

Another way to get it is by using a program like disk inventory X that graphically display the contents of the hard drive and because of the Virtual Machine tend to be bigger then most files should be quickly noticeable.

Otherwise there is not much more to offer in this case.

  • Lion running as a virtual machine under Windows (in front of the normal).

Long story short, I'll install Windows (natively) on my MBA (lots of reasons - application compatibility, management files, etc.) but would like to have OS X on the side to play with. Anyone have any experience using OS X Lion in a virtual machine under Windows? Since it IS an Apple computer brand, I think it would be legal Yes? I'm guessing there will be VM Tools, but again, since it is an MBA, the drivers should be built anyway?

    Thank you

First VMware does not support Mac OS x (and version) running under Windows!

Mac OS X Lion, which is preinstalled cannot be legally virtualized and to virtualize Mac OS X Lion, you need to have a copy that was purchase on the App Store or on USB and then can only be virtualized on Mac OS X Lion!

PS: I'm leaving a beginner in the Linux world, so explanation would be welcome

    Hello

Welcome to the VMware community forums.

I don't think that the problem is related to a beginner linux user, it's a problem triggered by a specific hardware configuration.

If you look at your log file again, there is an error just before the vmware process attempts to core dump. The dump is a reaction to the problem.

    vmx| E105: PANIC: VERIFY bora/vmcore/vmx/main/timeTracker_user.c:238 bugNr=148722

If you then put the bug number into google, you get:

    http://KB.VMware.com/kb/1227

Which indicates in return you can set a configuration file to specify the actual frequency of your processor.

Your processor is an Intel (r) Core i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40 GHz

The linux variant of the config.ini file they speak on windows hosts is/etc/vmware/config
