I searched the internet and support forums of apple, did a restore from a previous backup and finally reinstalled OS x. Nothing works. The only way I've gotten on the apple web site is because my home page has been set to Xfinity, and it has a search capability. Any ideas?

  • Safari. cannot type in the address bar after software 9.0.3 update today

    Hello

I've just updated Safari to 9.0.3 this morning.

Now I find that I'm unable to type a search in the address bar. Or type in anything, by the way.

Normally, clicking in the address bar would like to point out what is there and he would remove a return back and I could type in a new search.

I tried to restart the computer.

Anyone any idea of it please.

    Joshe

  • Cannot type in the address bar or search... even in safe mode

I use Firefox for years, so I'm not new at this. I already tried in SafeMode... same problem... so who says this isn't an add-on / plugin problem. I have not installed brand new in any case within a period of time.

The only thing I can think is playing the game DC Universe Online I could hit a key combination and I was check what competencies would be a good thing on the Web site and the tab then return in the game. But what combination of keys would prevent you from typing in the search bar or the address bar?

I'm able to stick in the bar and in this way but if I type and copy it from another browser to search... I might as well just use this other browser.

After much searching I found the answer here:

  • We are unable to type in the address bar and change the homepage

Hello, after I accidentally installed snapdo, we can not type in the address bar or the search bar. I managed to remove snapdo now of the laptop. Export my bookmarks, reset firefox, nothing has changed - still does not. Uninstalled firefox, reinstalled, still does not.

In the end, we tried all those - they didn't work, but this thread and recommended prog worked.

    http://www.techsupportall.com/how-to-remove-doSearch-com-from-Internet-Explorer-chrome-Firefox/

Then we uninstalled Firefox, deleted all associated files - in the AppData folder and then reinstalled.

So it has now been resolved.

  • When you open a new window, it automatically loads the last content pop up (?) and I'm unable to type in the address bar or open a new tab in the new window.

I don't know if they are technically pop-up windows (for example, if you perform a search on kayak.com, it will automatically open a new window of priceline.com with the search results), but that happens with Blocker on or off. Other examples are a little info to a financial site window or .edu, which opens a session is about to expire, or answer a FAQ (with the exception of the priceline example, these windows have an address bar or view a URL). In any case, once these windows are closed, if I try to open a new window, it will automatically load the content of this "pop-up". Whenever he does, I'm unable to type in the address bar or open a new tab in this window.

How can I fix it? What I want is to open a new window which is empty, not load the previous contents.

No, I just realized that I was holding Command-Shift-N rather than command-N

  • Stop Auto-loading that I type in the address bar.

Today, I realized that if I pasted the text in the location bar, it automatically does a search via Google. I tried to stop this behavior, so I looked into it. I ended up trying to change keyword.enabled from true to false. He did not take what I wanted. Now whenever I type in the address bar that Firefox opens not only a drop to the low menu suggestions charge but immediately one closest with each character typed. I need to get back to where I started and be able to type in the address bar without loading any page. I tried switching keyword.enabled back, but the browser will not stop this new behavior.

Too bad. It was an option for an add-on I use to count the words on a Web page. I didn't know that instant search is part of the add-on.

  • How can I change the order of the sites when you type in the address bar?

I used to type 'go' in the address bar if I want to go to google, so it automatically ends and I just click ENTER after 'go', but lately, one other site took place so when I click on enter I come to the wrong site. I didn't want this site more than google. How can I decide that there will be automatic? It's really annoying!

If AutoFill (browser.urlbar.autoFill = true) is enabled, then you can not get a drop-down list, but Firefox will AutoComplete entry automatically.
