Cannot uninstall Windows Defender Windows XP computer.

Original title: uninstall Windows Defender...

I am running Windows XP, Vista or 7. I downloaded Windows Defender on the MS site some time ago, but now I want it out for GOOD.  Can I uninstall anything else on my list of programs except Windows Defender. When I asked him to remove the program, he said: I am running in SafeMode (no) or my Windows Installer is not installed properly (not). How can I get it my computer?  I put it there, I should be able to take off, it shouldn't I?  I wouldn't be able to decide what is on my own computer and what isn't?

Hello

  1. What exactly is the error message you reciev when you try to uninstall Windows Defender?
  2. You have Microsoft Security Essentials installed on the computer?

Microsoft Security Essentials has not automatically disabled Windows Defender in Vista or Windows 7, you must turn off to avoid conflicts. Windows Defender can't be uninstalled Vista or Windows 7.
If Microsoft Security Essentials does not automatically uninstall Windows Defender on XP, you must manually uninstall Windows Defender through Control Panel of configuration/Add / Remove programs.

You can try the troubleshooting provided in the link below steps to resolve problems with installing and uninstalling the programs in Windows computers.

    Hi Pbmfire,

Microsoft Flight Simulator Deluxe is not compatible with Windows 7.

Check the link to check for the compatibility: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Details.aspx?type=Software&p=Microsoft%20Flight%20Simulator%20X%20Deluxe&v=Microsoft&uid=&pf=0&pi=0&s=MS%20Flight%20Simulator%20%28Deluxe%29&os=64-bit

However as a workaround, you can try to install the game in Vista compatibility mode and check if you are able to use the game.

To change compatibility settings manually for a program, right-click the program icon, click Properties, and then click the Compatibility tab.

  • Cannot connect Windows XP computer to the wireless router

Original title: why did I have to disable my ethernet on my front XP computers connections all of a sudden they would connect to my wireless network

    I installed a new AT & T wireless router

Only my Windows 7 laptop would connect to the new wireless router.

For my XP desktop and the laptop I had to disable the ethernet connections [although no cable not connected] so that the wireless to connect.

I did it on a whim after days of not being able to connect and many calls to support AT & T.

Both computers have shown the presence of the network, had 4 or 5 bars and had the right key WAP.

So what did this happen?  XP update?  Wireless driver update?  The AT & T router?

I had the problem until I'm the new router, AT & T AT & T could find nothing wrong with the old.

Their "solution" was to send a new router - Netgear v the Westell, I had for days of Bellsouth.

    Hello

Have you tried to proceed as stated in my previous post?
If you want to continue to launch other steps, you try to temporarily disable the firewall and check. Check out the following link.
How can I turn on or turn off the firewall in Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later versions?
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/283673
Note: on disabling firewalls, viruses, or malware can get into the system. After you complete this step of troubleshooting, turn on the firewall.
Note: A firewall is software or hardware that checks information coming from the Internet or a network. Then, the firewall blocks the information or allows information to pass to your computer. If the information is blocked or passed through depends on your firewall settings. A firewall can prevent malicious software (such as worms) to access your computer through a network or the Internet. A firewall can also help stop your computer from malware sent to other computers. Windows XP, Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) include firewall software.

    Hi RobertLasher,

You cannot uninstall Windows XP, but you can install another version of Windows, or reinstall Windows XP.

    For more information:

    Install, reinstall, or uninstall Windows

The associated virus question, I would say that you try to run an antivirus full scan on the computer by using the anti-virus software installed on the computer. If you don't have any software antivirus installed on the computer, then try Microsoft Security Essentials:

Help protect your PC with Microsoft Security Essentials

Also, you have run the Microsoft Safety Scanner. The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

As Michael Murphy said, you cannot uninstall Windows Mail because it is part of Vista.

Your ISP people do not know what as the h_ll they were talking about. Or maybe you don't understand what they told you. What either upgrading your ISP did has no bearing on your Windows Mail.
Apart from Windows Mail cannot be uninstalled, there is no such thing as version 7 and 8.
Windows Mail has long since run its course. It has been replaced by Windows Live Mail.
The version you have (6.0.6000.16386) is the latest version.

Talk to your ISP and get the straight facts. So maybe you want to post back.

  • Uninstall Windows defender?

The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor recommends that I have uninstall Windows defender.  Everything I read says it's impossible.  Can anyone help?  (I'm running Vista on a 32-bit computer)

That's right, Windows Defender is part of the Vista operating system. It cannot be uninstalled.

You can turn it off. Use this tutorial if this is what you need to do...

Have you used the Windows 7 upgrade notice?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/downloads/Upgrade-Advisor

It is strange to hear that the Advisory Committee has been asking you to "Uninstall" Windows Defender.

It makes no sense because Windows 7 has also integrated as part of the operating system Windows Defender.

  • How do we uninstall Windows Defender signatures

    Kaspersky is slow.

I had already uninstalled defender of windows using Add / Remove programs and it does not appear in this list more, but Kaspersky technical support told me that I also had to uninstall windows defender signatures.

How this, or check that they are really already uninstalled?

I don't really see an uninstall issue.

    Bob

    Hello

As I said, you can stop Windows Defender from running as shown above. It is up to
Windows and cannot be uninstalled and there is absolutely no reason to do so since
When it is not loaded at startup it has no influence on the system. Similarly, the definitions
    do not be uninstalled.

If you are having problems, it's Kaspersky bringing as usual. Their support is just
puffing smoke, confusing the issue, rather than admit their questions. BTW Kaspersky
knows this as well because they say something that they know is incorrect, that means
either they don't care or simply refuse to admit the real question.

Bottom line is that if you stop Windows Defender to run or the definitions
    no influence on the system.

Note: even though I am an MVP, I'm not a Microsoft spokesperson nor I tell
I do not have to be the truth. Kaspersky is your problem.

    Hello

What is the full error message that you receive?

    (a) you can try to remove the previous version of Microsoft SilverLight from Add / Remove programs by following this link.

    (b) later, you can download & install the latest version of Microsoft Silverlight and check if the problem persists.
