  Most recent items now open the Canon 5 d Mark II raw files?  I called their customer service number and the woman I spoke to seemed uncertain on this subject. I have CS5 at home and of course, there is no problem opening these files.   The 7 5 d Mark II was first supported by Camera Raw version 8.7 (the plugin used by Photoshop Elements to open Raw files)

  Devices supported by Camera Raw

  Camera Raw 8.7 is only compatible with 13 elements and later versions.

  Elements 9 is compatible only with versions of Camera Raw 6.1 to 6.5 included so you will never be able to open the Raw of Mark II 7 d files in Elements 9.

  You have two choices:

  1. Upgrade to the latest version of items (currently 14 but is there a new version due every day now), or
  2. Download the free Adobe DNG converter, batch convert all 7 d Mark II Raw files to DNG format and then edit DNG files in Elements 9. An extra step for you, but no extra costs.

Adobe updates of lots then releases a software update, including a few new models of cameras periodically. You never know who is included in any given update, but I guess the Mark IV will be a final registration the following given the popularity of the Canon 5 d cameras (I have a Mark III).

  Canon 7 D Mark II needs one ACR CS5 cannot use ACR 8.7. You must download 8.8 ACR with the DNG Converter and create the DNG file for your CR2 files and treat with ACR CS5 version 6.7 DNG files

  I just tried to download the Raw files from a Canon 5 d Mark III to Lightroom 3.  The file have not been recognized.  According to me, there were a few problems update, but my Lightroom 3 is updated.  I need Lightroom 4?  I need to know that I have a meeting tomorrow and will go back to my Mrk II if I can't get an update of Lightroom 3 emergency.

  The latest version of LR3 has been updated in last December, and the 5D.3 is more recent than that, then Yes you need LR4.

  You can download the trial LR4 (or just the update 4.1 www.adobe.come/downloads/updates/ LR) and have 30 days before you need to purchase and enter a serial number.

  The other choice is to use the 7.1 to DNG Converter that knows your new camera, but allows the converted DNG open in LR3.

  Unfortunately for the new 5.4 RAW converter you must buy or upgrade to CS4. Hell, if your in the market and can wait until what CS5 coming out may be better long term. Not sure when CS5 comes out but I suspect min next year? Save you a little money.

  Lightroom 6 trying to copy pictures to a different directory than what is Lightroom 5. That's why you have the problem.

  You can change the directory where you are teaching LR 6 to place photos, or change the permissions on this directory to read & write.
