Canon MXF C300 spans clips

Total of the FCP to PP newbie here, so forgive if it is already addressed/cutlery/known issue or just a user error.

My first project in PP is based on images Canon C300, 23.976, 1920 x 1080, interview with content.   A lot of my interviews go more than the 2.05 GB file limit and therefore span multiple clips.  This seems to be confusing important with PP.  I have read some other user threads that seem to have similar problems, but mine is slightly different... bear with me...

Question #1:

Two clips split camera, take the same stand with the same code startup time.  For example. I have an ongoing maintenance that starts at 01:22:56:12, but then extends on two clips.  I'll call these part A and part B.   When I import the part A and part B using the "import media browser, then both part A and part B display the same Commons start time code, although actually part B should clearly start an image after the end of part A..      This occurs in the view project/Bin and the Source monitor.  See below.

spanned_clips.png

partA.pngpartB.png

Apart from the confusion that this creates with me, the user, it also seems to cause problems within the PP because when I try to load simply part A or part B in my source monitor, PP gets "confused" about what the source element should read from.  Sometimes, that means he's playing bad clip entirely, until I have to pause and restart the playback, and sometimes it means that the PP will spread reading between the two clips (altnernately playing the frames of a ' and B in near real-time) A-B-A-B-A-B-A-B, etc.) until what he figures that is the clip from a good source to play.

If it wasn't bad enough, it becomes even more disturbing when I edit an article of the part A or part B into a sequence, thinking that I edited in the section I want, only to read and have the PP to play audio of part A and part B picture.  Yet another example of his own confusion inside.

Question #2

The free problem to this is that the end TC for part A and part B are noted the same.   Looking at the above Bin view, you can see that part A has end TC which is after the TC end of part B.   When I first met what I thought it meant that PP was to be 'smart' and seeing that there was a clip split and then using the metadata XML to know that the full clip is the total of part A and part B, and that I could just delete the part B of my project.      Not the case.  After #1 demonstrated, the TC associated with part B is just hard evil in its display.  (the only good aspect of part B is apparently the duration).

Take-out:

I did not understand at this point if there is a problem with how Canon is written that it is XML and MXF files or how PP is playing these files.  Whatever it is, it's maddening to try to change something without the confidence that I am editing is actually going to be there when I play it back.

I've seen talk about some users using alternatives to swallowing and I would be interested in what those who are before you go much further in my cup (even though she will be extremely discouraging to know that 'quick solution of PP' is somehow an illusion at this point).    I'm also interested to know if these problems are limited to C300/MXF files or if it appears to the top with. R3D files which has also written to disk in the form of split files.

Oh wow... I feel stupid... and yet not.  Here is the reason:

When I first looked at it, it says "List of files" and I saw all XML files and all split clips.  This is how I had imported things before and no doubt led to my problems.      But because you had asked the question, it seemed that it was my rookie mistake, so I investigated other options.  I was intrigued by Canon XF, but it were grayed out (see below).    Finally, there is a slight order to bug and the limitation of the operation to get Canon XF to even display.  (I call it a bug because it is not intuitive to the user, but it can be just a limitation of functionality that could be imrpoved to).  The problem is that UNLESS the user clicks on the 'Name map' root structure of /ClipName/ # /Card name/content/Clips, so there is no possibility to even choose to display the Canon XF.    In other words, because the "view under" was already set to the directory of files, I never look at a unique Clips and I therefore allowed/of the drill all the way to the MXF files to then import.

vs...

So, I see now why you said "you should not see two clips... etc.

It is a little less intuitive, and we hope can be improved.

Thanks for the help.

Love me some CS6 Pro first.

  • MXF (C300) clips a mess after the recent updates

Today, I opened a first Pro CC project, on which I worked about a month ago: most clips MXF (C300) are out of sync now (beginning of clips on the beginning of the original files instead of the cut / memorized previously in points) and the correlation of the clips and the original MFX files is also bad (clips, which should refer to different original files show the same content).

The project has been very well with 7.1, now, after the installation of 7.2 and 7.2.1 project is a mess. I guess that the problem is caused by the latest updates of first Pro CC, for:

    (1) 7.2.1 the problem is the same in every previous version (numbered) and save the project.

    (2) when I opened a MXF file containing ten original files, the first Pro Media Browser displays the same content preview for each of these files. When I open the same file in a utility like Miro Video Converter, each of the ten files shows a unique insight into content.

I disabled the media Pro first Cache, but that did not help. Everyone has experienced problems of this kind? How can I return to 7.1? (I'm working on a Mac Pro mid 2010, OS X 10.8.5).)

  • Importing files, .mxf c300 to Cloud Prime Minister, but imports cs6 correctly to the questions.

I went to first cs6 cloud recently.  When I opened a project, I started in cs6 in first cloud I noticed that some files were not binding. When I tried to connect, I got a warning saying something on the timecode and who does not and would not bind again. When I tried to import the files into the project it is important only to the audio.  I went first cs6 and files import correctly. I wonder why cs6 reads these files and first cloud is not.  Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm editing a movie and I have loads of film shot on the c300, I haven't the time to convert all the images, that's why I'm publishing on the Prime Minister, in order to modify the right to .mxf files. I had problems initially with premeri cs6 for example, but I bought a calibratedMXF software and it worked perfectly. I was able to import and edit the files, .mxf c300 perfectly. Now, I went and am having the same problem as before.  Please if anyone has any info, I know this topic been discussed to death but I can not find any thread with the answer to my problem, I'd be very happy any info. I work on a mac pro 2008 OSX 10.8.5.

    Thank you!

I've updated the first Cloud v7.2.1 and its all connected and functioning normally!

  • Update 7.2 and Canon MXF

After the 7.2 update, it turns out that the PR project folder displays only the first mxf file in each folder.
If there are several mxf files in the source folder, it displays only the first.

VLC has the files as they are saved.

    What should I do now?

What look like the Canon XF files on disk?

    (a) is the CONTENT still intact parent folder, or what's a loose set of MXF files in a directory?

    (b) do you have. Files of the CAF next to each MXF file?

The reason I ask: CIF files are video files generated by Canon information.  7.2, if these files indicate that the media are stride, we will see correctly all segments into one file.

I think that what you see is 7.1 somehow failed to see the covering your clips, and therefore your project has a bunch of different imported segments.  A solution would be simply to delete the. CAF files, then 7.2 will resume treating each MXF file as a piece of media.

  • Canon MXF files and Audio problems

I recently bought a Canon XF-300 camcorder to use my CS5 Premiere Pro system.

I guess that the XF-300 would create a huge video file until I turned off the machine.

Instead, he represents several in MXF 2 GB files and every time I have to start/stop the camcorder a new video file is created.

And what makes it worse, is that it puts each MXF file in a folder.

When I turn a long clip there are problems with editing several clip 2 GB as opposed to a clip of 13 GB that I used to get with tape.

I use the XF utility to only transfer the video files from my CF card on my hard drive.

Then I perfer to use Pr to concatinate MXF separate files into a single file MP2 wasting a lot of time.

Is there something I could do with the camcorder of the XF utility to join a large file?

Also when I put a MXF file a sequence Pr stero audio track that I'm used from a band splits into 2 separate tracks.

One seems to be mono left and the other right mono.

When I combine them into an MP2 file, I get a mono soundtrack.

How do I get stero sound track?

    Francis,

    The manual I have:

Merge all Clips = merges the flow MXF files in each clip and also merges multiple files selected in a single file.

Merger of each Clip = merges the flow MXF files in each clip but retains several selected files in a different way.

With regard to the problem of audio:

In Premiere Pro CS6, you can set the Audio tracks by default for your stereo import instead of double mono/multi-channel mono media files. I don't know if it was an option in CS5, but I think that it is not.

In CS6 you do the following:

    1. edit > Preferences > Audio ("' Premiere Pro > Preferences > Audio" Mac ")

2 under default Audio tracks, change multi-channel Mono Media 'Use the file' in 'Stereo '.

    3 click OK.

Note that this will not affect already imported clips. This setting affects preferably clip when you import.

  • Canon MXF don't preview or display thumbnails files

Since the upgrade to CC2015 I'm more able to preview the MXF files in Bridge (I could before the update)

I use a canon XF100 and XF 300 I need to be able to view MXF files in Bridge.

I realize I can get a glimpse of awithin agency Media manager, but I have to dig into each folder to do because it doesn't have the ability to display all subfolders.--

I remember having this problem when I updated to CC2014, but impossible to find the notes on what we were doing.

In the prefereces of the bridge by the file associations MXF is not yet listed as a file type.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction so that I can get thumbnails for the mxf files show and then to be able to have the mxf files play in the preview window.

    What a hit of chance!

Kept pocking to Canon XF Utility... learned that the new Codec MPEG2 has been created and is not located in \Library\Application Support\Canon, but... no luck... it seems to only work for Canon XF Utility... has been very promising.

So, I decided I can live with vignettes that ensured the codec AppleMXFImport.component bridge. Before copying the codec on \Library\Quicktime, I deleted lots of others I've tried, and then opened the bridge and asked to purge the cache, so the VLC icons replaced by thumbnails, as before, some files could get them; at this point, I chose one of the files that failed, purged the cache... then an interesting thing happened! The features of player in the preview window is appeared... - What thing l'estrange I thought... - so decided to hit play... and VOILA! There, I had the preview reproducing video!

Now, instead of purge the cache for all the files via Tools-> Cache-> Purge Cache... I selected all files and Cache of Purge selected for selection in the context menu... it took a little bit, but all files now have thumbnails and the preview window has the player active control and reproduction works for all my Canon XF files!

I hope that this workaround can be repeated successfully with your facilities.

How to get the last AppleMXFImport.component:

1 download the package to the site Web of Apple Apple ProVideo Format, it's free, so you have the latest version.

2A inside the .dmg you will find a .pkg, decompress using unpkg app which can be found here timdoug.com - unpkg

    3. Once unzipped, you will find the codec in the ./ProVideoFormats/MXFPlugIns/Library/QuickTime folder.

4 copy the codec on \Library\Quicktime

    5. open Adobe Bridge

    6. According to the "procedure" described above.

    Have a happy bypass!

  • CS6 / AVCHD / spans Clip Bug / what cameras and media Types are affected?

This known bug in CS6 has been well documented about the potential symptoms, known problems and solutions of transcoding.

Video and audio glitches. AVCHD video

It would also be very useful for CS6 users be able to precisely identify the problematic cameras and/or types of media in order to make informed decisions when buying a camera, or when you receive multimedia files with the intention to edit in Premiere CS6.

If there is a definitive list of the specific camera manufacturers / models, or the types of media that are affected by this bug, I was not able to find it.

Of course that this bug has been fixed in June 17, out of the update Creative Cloud subscription. It remains to be seen if the hotfix will be brought back to CS6.

  • CS6.0.2 update no fix for AVCHD spans Clips - workarounds?

While I try to avoid hard Clips as much as possible because of a history with their importation in first, for coverage of the event we always get and I just cannot understand how grow Premeire CS6 on OS X. I see a lot of posts on this subject and would like to know if there is a fix that does not require to have bought another product (such as merging MTS $35).

We use images of Panasonic AVCHD and cameras if it stretches on, the sound will be absent for a large part or all or the element.

I tried to use the media browser to import the entire folder AVCHD.

I tried to use Panasonic AVCHD Viewer application to import images (switches to .mt2s instead of .mts wrapper).

I tried new codec transcoding (Quicktime and VLC will play the MTS file correctly but loses output audio sync).

Ugh, it's terrible. Has anyone found a workaround?

Take these clips split into Media Encoder and re-encode the AVCHD of hand Concept using. Then import them into first and see how they act. As long as you select the same codec as the original material settings so there is no generation loss as it will just re - write the file with a different file writer.

  • . CIF, .xml and .sif with Canon C300 bug

Today, I met a major problem concerning the c300 I thought I'd share.
To put into context, he is a tv series, style docu. I imported c300, .mxf sequences first, and everything worked fine for the last few weeks. However, somewhere last week, I think that after the first patch of December, I met something very strange.

MXF files, which stops at 2g on the C300, would be divided into a second file if the clip is long gone. That is to say

    AF001901. MXF (2g)

    AF001902. MXF (2g)

AF001903. MXF (300 MB) - 300 MB because the cameraman stopped saving.

Everything worked well at first, but with the last patch, in a very strange way, AF001902.mxf in first would show images of AF001901. It linked to the wrong clip. In player VLC via the Finder, everything worked fine, but when I opened the first, any C300 registration dossier which had more then a clip, link to the first clip. Same example

    AF001901. MXF

AF001902. MXF - THIS FIRST CLIP SHOWS IMAGES OF AF001901.

Quite a curiosity. I cleaned the cache of media, offline and relinked, restarted - all to no avail.

The solution came when I deleted the .cif, .sif and .xml files that are often included in the files. When I did that, everything worked fine again. (for now...)

I must say it's quite a dangerous bug, as projects can be completely foires.

  • Red screen in first/encoder MXF files

    Hello

I converted a bunch of MXF (C300) images in Adobe Media Encoder. All fine convert except files including audio 10 is correct, but the video is replaced by a RED SCREEN throughout the entire clip. Here are a few screenshots:

    Screen Shot 2015-05-25 at 1.21.09 AM.pngScreen Shot 2015-05-25 at 1.21.29 AM.pngScreen Shot 2015-05-25 at 1.22.06 AM.png

I can open these original MXF files in VLC Media Player and they play perfectly. However, bringing these specific clips in the SOUL or first creates the same problem red screen.

I looked all over the internet for an answer and found nothing. Is it possible to convert these files and import them into first correctly?

Any any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey Kevin,

Thanks for responding. I copied the overall structure of the file of the c300 images on my hard drive, and then dropped in the individual mxf files in the SOUL. So, it looks that I don't import correctly.

Is the same thing as Media Browser - Media Encoder?

    Thanks again for your help!

  • Import MXF file in the first

    Hello

I use a canon XF100 and first pro CS5 on a Mac Pro.

I would like to know the best workflow, so I can get pictures from the camera, at first, so I can start editing.

    My attempts so far:

1 import the MXF file directly in the first

Result: When a visitor the clip on the timeline, the audio only appears

2 using the XCam transfer to import images and convert to .mov

Result: The audio and video appear on the time line, but the audio is shorter than the video skips and jumps

Your advice and patience is greatly appreciated.

    Maxwell

Canon mxf files import is not broken in 2015.

Copy the entire hard disk map and place the folder CONTENT in a folder of its own video for example.

Then import it via Media Browser.

Or use the XF utility to export mxf files so unique.

  • ACVHD clips like PF30.   Which type the sequence should I choose for wide screen TV?

Camera is a Canon Vixia HFM41. Clips were shot with PF30 selected instead of 60i.    Using Premier Pro and Encore CS6.  Here is some of the best.  The original sequence I used is AVCHD 1080 p.   Square pixels.   29.97 FPS.   No field.    1920 x 1080.     The photos seem to be ok seen in again and on my TV.

The other day, while working in the body, my cursor landed on a clip in the project Panel.  A pop-up displays some info on the clip which is annoying.   He showed the clip to be: 29.97i UFF.   So I created a new sequence of the clip.   It has been shown as: AVC - INTRA 100 1080i 60 Hz, 29.97 FPS.

I created a new sequence for these parameters.  When I copied the old sequence I had first built to the new sequence, the video had wavy grounds him.   Can see these wavy lines on the TV after that I build the Blu - ray?    AM I best to stick to the old setting of sequence of 1080 p?

Could someone tell me what is happening here?

Any help or explanation will be appreciated.

Ann, thanks for your informative reply.   I read all the articles you suggested.   The program MediaInfo also said that I had the interlaced video.   Everything here is smart.  It's a good thing, as I arrived with my deep feeling with the help of my camera was set.   30FP. it would have been a nightmare to change all sequences only because that marks chapter yet (about 20 of them) do not copy and paste into the chronology of the organization that would take a good amount of time to reconnect in yet.

Thaws again for your help.   Good info.
