Capacity to make new folders

I can no longer right click on my desktop and be able to make a "new" folder  The shortcut option is there but not the "new folder".  How can I get this working again?  I click new folder in the office and the option has no effect... I mean clicking on it does nothing.  I lost a part of Windows 7?  How can I get that back?

Hello Tom or Pat!

You have discovered a problem with Windows 7. To resolve this problem, I recommend a program called FileMenu Tools. You can download the portable freeware from here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/System/System-Enhancements/FileMenu-Tools-Portable.shtml .

After having downloaded and installed the program, you will notice that, by default, each option is checked. I would be much more selective on this subject, otherwise your context menu will be a full page long! When the main window opens, you will see a list on the right side of all the elements that can be added to the context menu. Start weeding through the list and every one to take away, you don't need the United Nationsby checking the box.

Once you have completed your selection (de-selections) make sure that you click the green check mark in the row of icons at the top of the left window of the interface to 'Apply' of your choice. The program can do much more, but that answers your specific question. I am told that the program has a good help file, so try here if you are interested.

Let me know if this solves the problem for you.

Kind regards

I am running on Windows 7 Home Premium, SP 1 and is no longer we will get new files, even on the desktop.  The option is there, but when I click on "New folder", the button depresses, but nothing else happens and there is no new record.  On the desktop, if I right click on the option create a new folder is not there either. I checked the settings in the control panel under "Folder Options", but I don't see anything to change for this option to return.  How can I get that back?

  • "There is no media available to read" error when I access new folders on my RN104 using my WDTV

Story: I bought a WDTV about a year back so that I can copy all my DVDs on my RN104, and then put the DVD in the loft.

The last time I gott it works (after many hours!) but the movie was very nervous, I just so stressed out in the end, I decided to leave.

I tried again a few days back and somehow they are transmitted continuously smooth - no idea why, maybe theres been a firmware update since then or my WDTV has catalogue records, but they worked as I wanted to then.

In any case, I got rather excited and started to copy my DVD to my RN104 reuse MakeMKV.

I managed to copy a bit more than one evening, I checked I could play via WDTV and everything seemed fine.

The next day, I used the same computer to copy DVDs more to my RN104, now when I try to play these movies "there is no media available for playback.

I'll put my hands up and admit that I push some of the menus in the RN104 but I don't think I changed anything.

I found a few sites offering patches, but these that seem to all take care of the people storing movies on a PC not a SIN or they talk about menus that my WDTV isn't appearing any more - something about re-scan the drive seemed promising, but I can't find it in my menus.

I did some research with my setup and found that it has something to do with the issues and not the files.

If I copy a film one of my new records that showed the error in a file like that I can access, I'm able to play.

I thought to delete the folders, I couldn't access and just make new, but all new files that I create, I am unable to access.

I'm guessing this has something to do with permissions on folders, I played with the settings but I'm really not very good with this stuff and I'm worried, I'm just going to make things worse!

    Any help is appreciated!

    Additional:

I found if I copy a folder that I can access and rename the WDTV is happy to access.

Also is it just new folders, I create.

I could technically just copy a folder that works and use it as a model, but if there is a solution I'd rather!

Do not worry, I worked on what was the probelem:

I had checked 'specify the authorization when a new file/folder is created. Otherwise inherit the parent authorization"in"Default"settings"File access"on the NAS.

I unchecked that box and everything started working again.

  • Cannot creat new folders in Windows 7 Home Premium

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. For some time, I was not able to create new folders. The only option under New's case, among other things, that I never use. I was using Dell DataSafe Online and after several months of backups without a hitch, he began to make files and folders disappear whenever he did a backup, although I could find them with a search. When I tried to create a new folder with the same name that the old man he would find the old one, ask if I wanted to merge them, and another would disappear as well. Over time, the option create a folder disappeared also.

    I tried the suggestions here:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-files/unable-to-create-a-new-folder-in-Windows-7/3c5951c8-e3b0-4E5B-99A5-744f842fe558

    No solution.

    Can anyone help!

When you do research, you see the path to the folder? Can drag you the folder to another location, such as desktop or My Documents?

Make sure that the folder is not hidden. Right-click on it and select Properties.

    In addition, enable hidden files.

In Windows Explorer, Win + E key, tools | Folder options | View. Show Hidden files, folders, or drives.

  • I cannot create new folders in Windows 7

It seems that I've lost the ability to create new folders using Windows 7.  Here are the details of my system:

    Computer: Dell Latitude E6330
    Processor: Intel Core i7 - 3520M
    System: 32 bit OS
    OS: Windows 7 Professional

Here's what I've tried so far:
    (1) tried to make a right click on the desktop, without any available menu options (Failed)
    2) tried to create a new folder in Windows Explorer using the new folder (Failed)
    3) connected to the computer by using the admin account and repeat 1 and 2 (failure)
    (4) technical note followed by support, checked the values of registry HKEY and restarted maching (Failed-no effect)
    (4) hard disk access on network from another computer on Windows 7 (64 bit professional) and
attempted to create folders by using the user account and administrator (success-Iwas able to create folders)

This seems a problem isolated to the recent updates of the Windows 7 32-bit system.  Are there indications as to what to do?

  • Cannot create new folders from anywhere!

the ability to create new folders is lost. Help, please. I'm in big trouble. Some sites said I have to recreate the program stuff. Another suggested first, I try what follows, but can not find props everywhere, even in research. Also, do a right click on search does not work.

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. At the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

    Hello

    1. what happens when you search for "cmd" in the start menu to search?

    2. what happens when you create a new folder? Do you get any error messages?

    3. what happens when you tried to create a new folder in safe mode?

    4. are you aware of changes to the computer before the show?

Some of the registry keys could have damaged or needs to be repaired. It can also occur if there is no third-party program is blocking approval. We will analyze and identify the cause of the problem.

    Method 1: Safe Mode

Start your computer in safe mode and check the number.

To start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Method 2:

Try using the command prompt and try to create a new folder and check if you can create a.

To do this, follow the steps below:

    a. Click Start.

b in the start search box type CMD and press to enter.

    c. type cd... publicity and press ENTER, repeat the cd... and press ENTER until you have c:

    d. now, type the following at the command prompt:mkdir folder_name
Here, folder_name is the name of desired folder

    e. check if the folder is created in the drive C

    Method 3:

If you are able to open CMD method 2, you can try to scan SFC and check. See the steps. :

Perform a SFC scan on your computer. Consult the following link:

To make a new folder, you must provide a colon delimited string by some as an alias with a property name, something like:

    create a new file to alias "AP0015:Produce:Fruit" with properties {name: "Apples"}

What would make a folder named apples in a folder named fruits in a folder named products on AP0015

Here's a commented script that should work:

    say application 'Finder '.

-define a downtime in case the server is not available

    with timeout of 20 seconds

    Try

turn up the volume 'AP0015' the name 'AP0015' on the server '20.20.20.74' as a user with password 'abc '.

    on error

display the dialog box "AP0015 is not online.

    end try

    end timeout

-the path to the folder where the new folders will be created

-in this case, it is the root of the server AP0015

-the path to the destop is "AP0015:Users:AP0015:Desktop."

-do not forget the colon at the end of the string

    game of baseFolder for "AP0015."

-the name of the new folder container

game bfName to the 'new jobs '.

-a list of subfolders to create

    game subfolders to {'Art', 'Police', 'MSP', 'Sample', 'Version_01', 'Xml'}

-make the container folder if one does not already exist

    Try

    create a new file to alias baseFolder with properties {name: bfName}

    on error

display the dialog box "A folder to" & baseFolder & "named" & bfName & "already exists."

    end try

-loop through the slot and make folder list subfolders

Repeat with I 1 to the number items in subfolders

the value subname to the point I of subfolders

    create a new file to alias (baseFolder & bfName) with properties {name: subname}

    end Repeat

    end say
