Captivate 4 - end of project option: open a URL or file

Hello

I'm trying to set a URL to be opened when the film ends.

I used the end of project option > open URL or file but it does not work.

The last slide in the movie running on empty, but the URL does not open.

What can be the reason for this?

In addition, I wish the film to close and the URL to open. How can it be done?

Thank you!

Merav.

  • Open the URL or file Action works do not (Captivate 7)

    I've written dozens of using Captivate training courses that use buttons to open PDFs (vouchers). I am currently the Smart encoding forms such as buttons, by specifying the action open URL or file, or by running a tip action to do the same thing. The documents are located in a subfolder (documents), is the target of file/URL: \documents\ < Filename >. Same syntax I used for several years. However, once published using Captivate 7, these buttons no longer work. I've exhausted my methods to open files without success. Any ideas?

    BTW, I publish like .exe, so the mess of security SWF shouldn't be the issue.

    Thank you

    Hello

    Welcome to the Adobe Forums.

    It is a known issue with Captivate 7, as a workaround, place your document on the published folder (and not in a subfolder).

    Change the location of this action and republish the release

    Thank you

  • Button used to open a URL or file (success)

    Captivate 2. I searched throughout the text help and can't find the descriptions/definitions of these choices. Can you explain what each of them do. The last choice is to continue play project which I assume stops the current project (if it is unselected) when the button is clicked.

    I use a button to open a Web site, when the button is set to pause after 1.5 seconds and to appear for 'rest of slide' (length of the blade is 22 seconds) but the button does not work when the project is built. It works fine when I preview the project, but not after that generate or publish it. What could be wrong? Maybe it's one of these parameters, I wonder about above?

    Hi Ken

    Well, you're nearby. Amazing to see how many people I know who think that 'continue play project' option should actually cause the slide to pause so they deselect it. The break is configured in the Options.

    Here's how it works. If the button or click box has suspended the slide when the user clicks the button or click box, the assigned action is performed and the break is released. But if you deselect this option, the break is left on the slide forward until another action causes.

    Regarding the other choices, I assume you mean "news, Parent and Top? These choices apply to open new instances of Explorer (new) or dealing with framesets (if Captivate is appearing inside a frame of a frameset. (This is something HTML)

    Hope this helps... Rick

  • Open the URL or file not working in Firefox and Chrome (_blank)

    In Captivate 8, I created an advanced where action if the student clicks on an exit button, we present a web page pop - up in a new tab with an investigation into the matter to our company Web site and also to leave the window that was running the online course.  The problem is that it seems only to create this pop-up window when the student uses MS Internet Explorer.

    We ensured that pop-up blockers are disabled when we tested Firefox and Chrome, but it does not solve the problem.  The PC used to test this did Flash Player loaded on them for Firefox and Chrome.

    I initially had my command output on the same page of action after a number of breaks, so I tried to move later on a different page and added more than action breaks, in which case it was a timing problem.

    Someone there to meet other this problem where to open a URL or a file doesn't seem to work Firefox and Chrome even when no pop up blockers were?

    I want to Captivate 9, but I can't use this version because they have made some internal changes and now my Javascript does not work properly.  Therefore, I must stay with Captivate 8 until they fix their code base.

    Thank you

    Randy

    These breaks don't do anything. They break just the timeline.

    Your JavaScript does nothing no more. You try to set a Captivate variable called 'cmi.exit' that does not exist. You must use:

    SCORM2004_CallSetValue ("cmi.exit", "suspend");

    You must also set the request of nav:

    SCORM2004_CallSetValue ("adl.nav_request", "suspend");

    If there is a problem with a popup being opened in Flash, I would put everything inside an external function. You can put it in the standard.js

    function myExit()

    {

    SCORM2004_CallSetValue ("cmi.exit", "suspend");

    SCORM2004_CallSetValue ("adl.nav_request", "suspend");

    Window.Open ("url to your survey")

    }

  • Adobe Captivate 5.5 aggregator project does not move forward... Help

    Hello

    I have an aggregator project with two included Captivate SWF projects. For some reason, when Captain project finishes, the aggregator project stops, does not open the second SWF file. I have the last slide in the first project "on exit" "go to the next slide" value (I tried also to leave 'no action' in the form). It worked last week, and I can't understand what changed, or what I'm doing wrong this week. If someone else has encountered the question and can offer an idea?

    Thank you

    Tim

    Well, the question seems to be if the aggregator published title is identical (in my case) the master SWF file. I just added a ' at the end of the title published aggregator and it works as it should now.

  • Projects not opening

    Some background first... I work in Captivate 2 develop a tool of e-learning for my business. This tool will be delivered via SCORM 1.2 LMS society uses. I'm new to Captivate and spent 4 weeks on this project.

    I have nothing to do with the administration of LMS, I developed the tool only in Captivate, then I will present the SWF file to the administrator of our LMS.

    Well, I'm remote so I have been developing these projects and upload the SWF file to Adobe Connect Enterprise Server to provide a link for my end users, so they can review and validate the changes to me. It worked without problem and after 4 weeks, I finished in development is about to record audio and have hit a snag. So far I've sent their project into TWO parts (TWO projects Captivate). Let's say that part I and part II.

    I put the end of project preferences to open part II in the Curent window, then the user is redirected only. When I publish the project to open the file SWF II part, part, I turn, but the second part does not open? I've tried everything I can think of, and I am redirected to Adobe Connect Enterprise saying file not found.

    Then I tried to link the part II HTML file (instead of the SWF zip file) and it works, but it of only because it's on my computer and the default HTML on my hard drive. When I download the file to Adobe Connect enterprise and run the URL, part II will still not come, but no errors, apparently not even to try to open something. I also tried to include the whole of part II Zippes with the part I have files, zipping them together and to download Adobe Connect Enterprise in this way, and that has not worked. What should I do? How make sure that the output file contains everything there need to get content to open as it is put in place?

    Mel

    I feel stupid. Not sure why it is not in my brain to use the URL for the downloaded project. I downloaded the PDF and friendly for Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro and then used the URL to bind.

    I think that when we download this in our LMS, we find, we just have two projects and a menu, but at least for the purposes of the review I can now operate in Acrobat Connect Pro. I tried to use the direct path to SWF or HTML, and of course, he did not because it was not uploaded to the server. It must be a direct path to the project/file on the server.

    Yet once, feel stupid. It is sometimes really K.I.S.S.

    Thanks... mel

  • Open a URL of a Captivate generated MP4

    Hi all

    I am putting together an educational video (.mp4) using Captivate 5.5, the video will be targeting iOS users.

    I will need to provide a way to open certain Web pages, while the end user is playing the mp4 file. My thought was to include a button with an assigned action to "open a URL or filename" and specify the URL.

    This doesn't seem to work after publication in the mp4 format. This feature is not supported in mp4 Captivate files? Or forgot a step maybe? Is there a work around to get the same result?

    I would be grateful any entry on this.

    Hello

    Unless something has changed recently, it is my understanding that MP4 is strictly a video format and does not support hyperlinks or other types of interactivity.

  • Captivate 5 - button on success open a URL or a file does not

    There is probably a really obvious answer to this question but since I can't seem to get this to work.

    , I created a new project, Captivate 5, with a water slide. On this slide, I have added the button. When I selected properties of this button and scroll down to the ACTION tab, I saw a drop down menu to "success". By default, its value "continues", but I want this button to open a new Web page in a new browser window. So I chose open URL or file menu drop-down, typed in "http://www.adobe.com/" and 'new' in the area of the triangle to the right of the URL field. My attempts are defaults to infinite.

    When I publish this project, slide time and breaks at the right time, but nothing happens when I click on the button. Any new browser window opens. Heck, I'll even to http://www.adobe.com/ in the same window.

    I'm doing it wrong? It seems simple enough.

    Have you tested from a web server?

  • Care options opens a new tab for each time a tab opens to a new site at link. How close options so it won't open a tab on its own?

    Whenever a new tab opens to access a web page or 'Home' a tab options opens. Sometimes I have several tabs of options showing that the tabs of the site. How can I disable Options so that she will leave the opening of new tabs? I don't have this problem on my desk top only my laptop.

    Firefox uses a vertical bar ("|") in order to separate several home pages.
    You can check the setting of the home page to see if the subject: preferences page is included among the home pages (| subject: preferences #general).

    This can happen if you click on "use current page (s) ' to set the home page and about: preferences is open in a tab.
    You can pin the tab with the subject: the preferences page to avoid including: preferences for layout home page if you want to use this button.
    To set a page as the home page, you can drag the globe/lock for the home button.

  • Put links to video files in web pages - want option 'Open with' when the viewer clicks on the links.

    If I go to a video file that is stored in my computer, for example xyz.mp4 and right click on it, one of the options is 'Open with' and several options for example QuickTime player, RealPlayer are presented for me to choose. But when I add the file to a web page and create a link to it for example http://sillyvideos.com/xyz.mp4 and then I right click on this link (on the web page) in my Firefox browser, I don't get the option 'open with '. My question is: is it possible to put a link to a video in a web page, so I or other viewers can click right on it and benefit from the option 'open with' (so we can choose the drive to open it, without having to download first in our computers)?

    Normally what happens, is that the server sends the content with one or more headers that dictate what Firefox did with the video.

    For example, if the content is sent with a header that Firefox can play internally, then Firefox can open the video in a tab and use a built-in player. You can see with MP3s when the server says that it is "audio/mpeg" content. However, if the server sends a content type that a capable of handling plugin, Firefox can attempt this plugin.

    Normally Firefox will assume that the content is meant to be displayed in the browser, unless it is an unknown type or has a content-disposition header set to "attachment". In these cases, Firefox usually has open/save/Cancel dialog box.

    I don't know what kinds of choices you want to offer visitors to your site, but if you thought giving them a choice of the players external , sending to content-disposition: attachment to make appear the probably the most logical open/save/Cancel dialog box. With smaller files such as JPEG and PDF, I did it with a script on the server side (for example, a PHP script). I don't know if the script would work with multimedia files.

    If you want to provide more choices, you might need the buttons or links in the page.

    This example applies to a PDF file, but the same idea applies to the image files and it can work with files more mainstream media. (In this case, you change the script to specify the correct content type.)

    Implementation of the PHP approach, you follow these steps. This assumes that your server supports PHP (most do so) and that your Web host allows you to download PHP files.

    (1) save the following as getpdf.php file

    http://www.jeffersonscher.com/RES/getpdf.php.txt

    (2) using a FTP software or your server download function, copy getpdf.php into the same folder as your PDF file

    (3) test with your link. In the address bar, or in an e-mail, insert the following text before the name of the PDF file:

    getpdf.php?f=

    Thus, for example, this direct link to the PDF:

    http://www.jeffersonscher.com/RES/Mixed_Content_Blocking.PDF

    would become this link to the PHP file:

    http://www.jeffersonscher.com/RES/getpdf.php? f =Mixed_Content_Blocking.pdf

    The (box) screen options opens if big top is cut and cannot access anything but the general screen?

     I have my resolution set to native 1600x900 100%. Decreasing page (home page) size does not help.

    This only happens in this Options window or other windows depend on as well?

  • I don't have any option 'Open with' for downloads

    I click on a file in a Web site to open it, but the box pop up no not the option "open with...". ", only the save option. The file type is a text document with the extension ".prg" associated with in my Windows Folder Options to open with Wordpad. Breast of Firefox Tools/Options/Applications, this file type does not appear, so I can't change it. I've read elsewhere where it is blamed on the MIME type in the HTML header, but Microsoft Internet Explorer gets it right every time, only Firefox does not recognize the file type.

    "Either way, the same site has files with the extension".chg "I open it with Notepad. Firefox offers the 'Open with' option to these files with Notepad as the defauld, but the "always open with" is grayed out. Not that I care, as the default is what I want, but...

    Firefox goes by MIME type, not the type of file, like IE does.

  • I can't download Firefox. When I hit the download button the pop-up box asking me if I want to open or save the file disappears without me click an option.

    I tried to download Firefox without success.
    I hit the download button and, normally, a pop-up window appears asking me to open or save the file. An empty box appears briefly and then disappears.
    The problem may be with Internet Explorer 6.
    However, I tried to update to IE 8 and the same problem above occurs on the Microsoft Web site.
    I think that there is a little lack of IE 6.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you
    Sandra

    Thank you.
    In the end I had someone send me the file installation and it worked.
    Thanks for your time.

    My v6.02 browser Firefox always open *.csv (separator: semicolon) file in another tab instead of downloading a file? I have no option to right click to save this file. My PC is windows XP sp2.

    The CSV file is sent as text/plain. If you want to save the file then right-click and use them "save the link as" to save the file or hold the Alt key and left-click that should work on Windows.
