Open the URL or file not working in Firefox and Chrome (_blank)

In Captivate 8, I created an advanced where action if the student clicks on an exit button, we present a web page pop - up in a new tab with an investigation into the matter to our company Web site and also to leave the window that was running the online course.  The problem is that it seems only to create this pop-up window when the student uses MS Internet Explorer.

We ensured that pop-up blockers are disabled when we tested Firefox and Chrome, but it does not solve the problem.  The PC used to test this did Flash Player loaded on them for Firefox and Chrome.

I initially had my command output on the same page of action after a number of breaks, so I tried to move later on a different page and added more than action breaks, in which case it was a timing problem.

Someone there to meet other this problem where to open a URL or a file doesn't seem to work Firefox and Chrome even when no pop up blockers were?

advancedact.jpg

I want to Captivate 9, but I can't use this version because they have made some internal changes and now my Javascript does not work properly.  Therefore, I must stay with Captivate 8 until they fix their code base.

Thank you

Randy

These breaks don't do anything. They break just the timeline.

Your JavaScript does nothing no more. You try to set a Captivate variable called 'cmi.exit' that does not exist. You must use:

SCORM2004_CallSetValue ("cmi.exit", "suspend");

You must also set the request of nav:

SCORM2004_CallSetValue ("adl.nav_request", "suspend");

If there is a problem with a popup being opened in Flash, I would put everything inside an external function. You can put it in the standard.js

function myExit()

{

SCORM2004_CallSetValue ("cmi.exit", "suspend");

SCORM2004_CallSetValue ("adl.nav_request", "suspend");

Window.Open ("url to your survey")

}

  • Open the URL or file Action works do not (Captivate 7)

    I've written dozens of using Captivate training courses that use buttons to open PDFs (vouchers). I am currently the Smart encoding forms such as buttons, by specifying the action open URL or file, or by running a tip action to do the same thing. The documents are located in a subfolder (documents), is the target of file/URL: \documents\ < Filename >. Same syntax I used for several years. However, once published using Captivate 7, these buttons no longer work. I've exhausted my methods to open files without success. Any ideas?

    BTW, I publish like .exe, so the mess of security SWF shouldn't be the issue.

    Thank you

    Jack L

    Hello

    Welcome to the Adobe Forums.

    It is a known issue with Captivate 7, as a workaround, place your document on the published folder (and not in a subfolder).

    Change the location of this action and republish the release

    Thank you

  • Open the other projects - does not work

    Hello-

    We just finished a lesson of the CBT in the 3 Hat, which includes 29 separate projects. At the end of each project, the student is introduced a button to bring to the next, that is 'open another project '.

    That is the question, we have put this button 'Open another project' and 'open a URL or file '. In both cases the next project does not open. The user is taken to a page of internet search. We have implemented the system of 'Success' button using the Captivate files help where it tells remove you all the ways of the system and just use the names of file or project. Button settings in Advanced Interaction also confirmed.

    We publish our projects in .exe format. This concern is present when we listen to extracts using the feature overview and products .exe.

    What we're doing wrong, any ideas?

    Rick - your basic source code provided us the answer. We made a comparison and found verified the following on all of our projects:

    Under preferences - project - beginning and end
    Start of project options:
    Loading screen:

    This has been verified with blank if Cape tried to start the next project with a blank so it is lacking for a web search page.

    Thank you, SO MUCH

  • video doesn't work does not directly in Firefox and Chrome

    Use the HTML5 video widget and got my mp4 movie to appear and work fine in Safari, but under Firefox and Chrome, it shows a film about the birds diving into the ocean fishing fish, which I suppose is a movie from Adobe. Is it because I do not understand a webm version? The link of webm isn't hot, so I can't use it. Can you just put in the format of a film? WEBM is the preferred format?

    Since I posted, I unchecked "file external webm" and was able to add a local file of the web. Then transferred again and everything works fine now. So it seems that I must download time an MP4 Player and a web file.

    I have the latest Firefox and Chrome browsers.

    I have a family site that works very well with Firefox and Chrome, but with when we created a new page and transferred, could not be with IE.

    http://www.thetravelintexans.com/States.htm has been modified to add the latest picture of the last row, it has been downloaded and works fine.

    If you click on the last photo Andrew at Disney, need you for this page http://www.thetravelintexans.com/AndrewsDisney.htm .  This page acts as it does in Internet Explorer, but said quickly at the bottom of the screen, but it is empty.  The source code is visible, but no details of the page at all.  Again, this works very well with Firefox and Chrome.

    I use Dreamweaver CS4.

    Thanks for the tips.

    IE gets a little anxious when there is no DOCTYPE to work. He tends to fall back into a quirks mode and behave irrationally. Makes me think of me when I don't have any goals.

    Solution, simply give your pages a DOCTYPE valid and all is well. For more information, see here http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thetravelintexans.com%2FAndre wDisney.htm

    Hey there,

    I have a the ' Open/create/replace the file' vi in an executable file. It works perfectly fine on my development machine, so developing in the executable. When I install it on another machine, the - function returns true.

    It seems to me that the file opens correctly, even if it exists. There is no error, indicating that there has been a problem in opening the file, so I'm confused.

    None of you have met it... bug (?) and knows what it takes to to this topic?

    Thanks in advance

    Now I feel very stupid.

    It is in fact an error - file not found.

    I just thought that this (file not found) error message will show automatically if I have anything to remove the error messages, as a cluster of wiring error.

    You always use the same profile folder you used with the Nightly build (35.0a1)?

    If you do, then you must create a new profile.

    See "create a profile":

    If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile already used in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting more problems.

    With the decommissioning of a Nightly build might be unstable, you should be still more restrictive with what to retrieve.

  • The PDF module does not work with Firefox 14.0.1

    I have not found an Add on PDF that works with 14.0.1. I have to go to IE or Chrome when there is a PDF file to open.

    If you're not opposed to the use of the plugin that ships with Adobe Reader X, this article might help: use the Adobe Reader to view or download PDF files plugin.

    If you prefer Foxit Reader, it might be that you must activate the add-on or to update, and then turn it back on.

    To check the disabled modules, try here:

    Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Modules

    Check as well the category Plugins and Extensions for your PDF readers. You will find the disabled items in a separate set at the bottom of the list.

    To check the updates of the add-on, use the "gear" above the list.

    I used to do Alt - O | Content | ALT + C to select the color... option

    But now it no longer works

    If you find the Shift + Alt keys too heavy, Firefox has a preference to change the accelerator 'accesskey' only Alt. However, this allows pages to anticipate on the accelerators to the menu bar (F, E, V, S, B, T, H), so if you use those often, it is not switching. If you are inclined to try, this article has more information: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Ui.key.contentAccess

    If you find that you cannot get used to the dialog box "in the tab" Preferences, there is a preference to return to the old style dialog box:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste pref and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.preferences.inContent to true to false

    Note: I don't know if that will ever be in Firefox or is a transitional device.
