[Captivate 6] Indicator completion using conditional actions

Hello

I'm looking to implement an indicator of achievement in the form of an image is displayed next to the link to a specific section to show that it is has been visited, to achieve this, I did the following

  1. [Page 1] 3 (smart form configured to use like button) buttons, 3 images (located in invisible on output) Image1, Image 2 and 3
  2. Link 1 [page 2] back button on slide 1
  3. [Page 3] 1 button link to slide 1
  4. [Page 4] 1 button link to slide 1

Variables:

  • Sec1Done, value 0
  • Sec2Done, value 0
  • Sec3Done, value 0

Conditional actions:

  • IF [Sec1Done] is equal to 1 THEN show Image1
  • IF [Sec2Done] is equal to 1 THEN show Image2
  • IF [Sec3Done] is equal to 1 THEN show Image3

Action (as input):

  • [Slide] Assign the Sec1Done with 1
  • [Slide] Assign the Sec2Done with 1
  • [Slide] Assign the Sec3Done with 1

Now, when I click on the link in section 1 (slide 1) then click the button back (slide 2) the Image1 does not appear, then is the same for slides 3 and 4.

I've included a link to the project (hosted on mettle) if all goes well to make it more clear

Thanks in advance for your support

A little difficult, have several posts on similar configurations, but do not understand your explanation. You don't specify what events trigger actions at all. Why not use the Back buttons to change the value of variables? And the event that triggers the conditional action? I suspect that this is the event to enter the slide Menu?

I suspect that you want something like that, watch the movie:

  • Captivate 9 just all my conditional actions converted to standard actions

This isn't a problem converting 8 Captivate. I spent several hours this morning, creating conditional actions and by assigning them to the learning map that I create in Captivate 9. I save the file several times along the way and also at the end.

Then, I went to lunch and attended a meeting. When I got home and has reopened the case in order to duplicate and modify the existing conditional actions, I found that they were converted to standard actions, and my settings of variables and expressions had been dropped.

I have not a screenshot of what it is supposed to look like - these are actions "and then" which were associated with the first condition. The second condition and all the "else" statements have been abandoned.

I had to have this ready to present to my boss before the end of the day--and I would have, if I didn't all start again. And how do you know if that this never happens again?  ARGH!

No, they have not installed the patch for 9.0.1.320 nor the 9.0.0.230 fix. You are always on the first version that had this bug, resolved by a hotfix released shortly after the first version. This patch is now included in the patch you need to install as soon as POSSIBLE.

After the update, I expect to see the new menu entry, but there are none.

    What should I do?

You are welcome.. Yes, it is (or was rather) CS6 "perpetual" license and a model of subscription CS6 for some time. You can always buy a serial number for CS6. You can also restore CS6 with a subscription of the CC, by going to "previous versions" in the new creative application of cloud.

And, unfortunately, not... You can get the 'photography Plan' for $9.99 USD per month, which includes the latest versions of Photoshop and Lightroom.

Have you checked that Panel Advanced Interaction, please? All of the marked objects that are indicated to be added to the total of the Quiz are part of all system Quizzing variables. Insert a slide to score in your project and check the result when previewing in the browser or after publication.

    Hello

I want to use conditional actions to do the following: display 'continue' button on slides only some slides were viewed by the user.

I hope that one of you will have the answer for me

  • How can I add audio to tabs using advanced Actions?

I used the following tutorials to create a slide tabbed with navigatiion locked in Captivate 5.5 (I use Advanced Actions to activiate the continue button only once you click on all the tabs).

    http://blogs.Adobe.com/Captivate/2011...

    http://forums.Adobe.com/message/40464...

I have audio intro associated with the slide, which plays on enter. Does anyone know how I can add audio to each tab by using advanced Actions? When I tried this, all audio files played at the same time, above the other.

    I appreciate all help.

Recently, I blogged about the control of audio objects, maybe that article could help you:

    http://lilybiri.posterous.com/audio-objects-control-them

Here is another example, where I used a lot of audio attached to all kinds of objects:

    http://lilybiri.posterous.com/playtime-with-audio-and-widgets

The idea is that you attach audio to an object that can be invisible to the user (I explained I have a special highlight for this purpose style) and you show the object action advanced, which means that when the audio will start playing. You probably also will have to stop audio (to avoid the two clips play together) when the user clicks on another tab, in which case he has not done. So if you have 3 tabs, you have 3 audio objects and with advanced actions always show you an audio object and hide the other 2.

  • conditional actions in Captivate 6

I use the trial version of Captivate 6.  I just started using more complex advanced actions, so I don't know if its me or the software that does not work

I have a class which forks.  The user chooses a course of action on slide 2, and they move in the course.  However, I need them to see all the path options until the course is completed, so on the last slide, he brings them to slide 2.  I want the possibility that the initial of the user selected grey outside, so they click on a new option.

Here are 2 Slide.  The transparent blue circle should only when returning to the slide for the second time if the user has clicked this option before.  I even added the variable to the slide (just for me) to make sure that the variable changed from 0 to 1 when you click on it.  The part works.

    Capture.JPG

Here is the part of the action. If the variable (real estate agent) = 1 show the smartshape (transparency on top) ELSE hide transparency.

What I am doing wrong?  Thank you

Ok.  How do you call this conditional Action?  You use the event drag YOU enter?

  • Can I use conditional and advanced actions on the same button?

I'm fairly new to Captivate, but come from a flash background and I do of Captivate to do certain things, that I expected to be straightforward and a normal requirement.

I want to create a screen with a number of interactive objects, in this case photos, it's the learner clicks on to display a text element.

By clicking on the following image, the first piece of text is hidden and a second piece shown.

There are 6 images/buttons which have to work in this way.

However, I also want to determine if all the buttons have been used, as we force the user to view the entire slide before you continue.

I can do the hide/show text and buttons, and I wrote a conditional action to check the variables for each button. However I do not know how and when to appeal to this action.

I was hoping that in my Advanced action for each button, I could add in a call to the conditional action "record"variables", which would be very well fulfil this requirement, however this doesn't seem to be the case."

I also animation/effects on the timeline before the images are on the meaning of screen I want to go back to the beginning of the timeline to use an event "on enter.

I am surprised that this isn't something that people most need because while it may be frowned upon outside in the field of e-learning, disabled navigation is frankly not will disappear and working for a large corporation will be a must.

If anyone can shed some light on this, or perhaps suggest a better approach then I'd appreciate it.

    Thank you.

Of course, it is possible. This is the approach I explained (for previous versions):

    http://blog.lilybiri.com/template-for-reusing-script

The models that I offered it, were invited to a lot of times and are used all over the world, which is funny

I also have templates for CP6 and 7, but has stopped offering everything for free. And 7, you can have all the shares shared in a library that can be used as external library... just a tip: http://blog.lilybiri.com/new-features-in-captivate-7-dot-01

Agreement on controls on effects for paths, please submit a feature request as many have already done to have the most control over the coordinate without having to change the XML file.

It would be nice to have timed events. Jim Leichliter has a widget (only for the SWF) which allows some scripted events. The interaction of timer that can do as well, but is not very accurate because after that time there is always a lag of about 2 seconds.

http://blog.lilybiri.com/events-and-advanced-actions tells us about the available events.

Sorry for all these links, but advanced actions are my passion, since they appeared with 4. They are limited, all right, but I managed to convince many users to give them a try at different levels. Would love to train more users for this "point-and-click" approach that does not really need programming skills, but only a logical mind.

  • "File in use: the action cannot be completed because the folder or file is open in another program" when you rename a folder with Thumbs.db inside

I looked at many similar responses but no nails really our problem.

On a Windows client 7 to rename a folder that is located on a file server running SBS 2003.  When you try to rename a file that has a file "thumbs.db" in there he throws the message "file in use: the action cannot be completed because the folder or file is open in another program. and then it won't let you rename it.  This isn't a problem with other XP clients attached to the same server.  We have reduced to folders that have this file thumbs.db in through trial and error.

It will work when you show just the icons which is unacceptable.  However, you can rename a folder that is located on the customers own local disk.

Suggestions - we can work around it, but it of inturupting workflow and is old fashioned all simply boring.

    Thank you

  • Captivate 9 corrupt conditional Actions

One of my co-workers recently updated to Captivate 9. When it opens files created in Captivate 7 and 8, they view, edit, and preview well. But once she saves them (convert to Captivate 9) all conditional actions get deleted. They are from the Cp7 or Cp8 conditional actions convert all in stock Standard. (If) conditions and the other information are lost, and all sub scripts get pushed in a standard action column. All variable assignments are also hidden.

If someone else hit this problem and if so, is there a solution? I have over 200 different courses spanning four languages. I can't afford to have 9 Cp corrupt all the.

It is everywhere in this forum, you must have missed it. A fix is available,

You can google for the hotfix in Captivate 9?

  • Several conditional Actions required to Slide "on entry.

I have a Captivate 7 file with a main Menu that contains 5 buttons that take users through 5 submenus. There are buttons that launch other project files on each submenu.

On the submenus when a user performs a project file, the file closes and a variable puts a check mark on the top of the key to display this project is completed. Once a user makes all projects on a submenu, the button in the main Menu which directs user to the submenu then will have a tick on the top of the key to show the submenu is complete.

This works well with many variables; standard actions on the buttons and a conditional action advanced on the "on entrance" for the slide.

Question I have is that on each slide to make a Visual indicator that indicates the total percentage of full user (6 built images showing 0,20,40,60,80 & amp; 100). I created a conditional action that shows a relevant picture but my question is how to integrate only next to entry. Have you thought to use on output to show the image correctly on each slide, so that when the user visits a slide good picture - unfortunately it does not work.  Someone at - it ideas? Is it possible to drag on entry perform two separate conditional actions?

    Any great fully received help!

You can put decisions as much as you want in a conditional to the progress of the actions. How much time do you have for now? All the statements in any fast action are always evaluated, which is not always the case in conditions in a programming language. Sequence is of course very important, both in the statements and decisions.

  • Use advanced Actions show different slide

    Hello

I am using Captivate 5 and have a problem with the display of an image with a tip action.

I am trying to create a simple table of contents custom. I can't use integrated OCD because, as far as I know, there is no option to have appear only at the beginning of the project - it is available as long as the project is open. It is a problem for me, since I have limited screen real estate, so I can not have it on the side, and I can't bunk it. Anyway, I digress.

At the end of each topic, I want the user to return to the table of contents and see an indicator of subjects duly filled in. I added an image which is hidden initially on the TOC next to each topic list. Then, on the question slide, the user presses navigation button, a tip action uses 'show' to make the image on visible table of contents slide and then refers the user to the table of contents. Unfortunately, the image still remains hidden.

If the image is on the same blade that the tip action, everything works. I can also add a user variable that updates a text caption on the slide table of contents of a fast action on the slide for the topic.

Is it possible to display an image with a tip of a different slide action?

I see in one of the posts of Lilybiri (http://lilybiri.posterous.com/playing-hide-and-seek-with-captivate-objects):

"You can apply action show only to objects that are really on the slide.
e.g. you put a rectangle on slide 1, the value "Display for the rest of the project." If it is initially hidden, you can show only on slide 1, not on slides 2, 3, etc."

However, there is a reference to "when using"Display for the rest of the project. I don't know if this limit also applies to my situation, but I suspect it might be the cause of the problem.

As an alternative, I tried setting a variable that changes when the slide of the subject is visited. A conditional action then shows the image on the table of contents. Unfortunately I do not know how to trigger this action, as it should be something like an action "on the slide open", and I do not know if such a thing exists. In addition, this approach seems too complex.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are right that advanced Actions will be able to SHOW or HIDE an object on the current slide you are watching.  They have no effect on another slide that is not currently displayed.

So what you have to do is assign the User Variables for each section of the project that the user has completed and Actions conditional Advanced triggered by the OnSlideEnter of the menu slide event allows to detect if the user has completed a section given by the value of the variable user for this section.

  • How can I get the action to hide the table of contents to work as part of a conditional Action?

GOAL: when a user takes the Quiz and fails, I wish they were able to get back underway and reviewing the materials before taking the quiz. As noted in other discussions, I have created actions advanced conditional and standard to achieve this:

    • Quiz results Slide Property executes the standard action "ResultsSlideVisitedAction", affecting a variable (AssessmentVisited) to 1, an indicator that the result slide has been visited.

    ResultsSlideVisited.PNG

    • If a user clicks the Retake Quiz button, instead of going to a "knowledge management", a quiz question classified early in the race with zero points, it goes to the first real quiz question. The slide to check knowledge runs the 'ExcludeKCAction', a conditional, looking to see if the result slide has been visited, which means that the quiz taken. If so, he jumps at the 1st question of the quiz slide.

    KCExclude.PNG

    • I changed my Quiz message fail to tell the user to click the button Retake (which works fine) or navigate using the table of contents to review topics and then resume the quiz. The problem with this is that if a user uses the table of contents and gets to go to the slide to verify the knowledge to conditional action, they are sent directly to the Quiz.
    • So, I took a different tact and decided to ask the user to use a "Back in the race" button to review the course and then resume the quiz. Because you cannot add buttons to the slide of results, I created an invisible button to reset the AssessmentVisited variable to 0, so when the GET to the verification of knowledge, they are not sent for the quiz. I did this by adding the image on a button, and then by superimposing an invisible rectangular shape on top of the button image. This allowed me to add advanced invisible form actions. It worked!
    • The last thing I want to do is to hide the table of contents, so there is no chance of the user to return without resetting the variable. I tried to add the action to hide the table of contents, but it doesn't seem to work. Is this possible?  I tried to move the TOC to hide as actions of 1st, 2nd and 3rd and sill does not. Here is a screenshot of the conditional action that runs when a user clicks on my return to the button a course:
    • ReturnToCourseCondition.PNG

I appreciate any thoughts on a solution to hide the table of contents as well. Thank you.

Hide the TOC works only for OCD in overlay, you use a table of contents separate?

With respect to the Score slide buttons, you make it very complex, it is possible since version 6: buttons on Question/Score 6 Captivate Slides?-Captivate blog

  • Micro-Navigation (using advanced Actions) behaves badly in published project

I have build in Captivate 9 and must give the user the possibility to jump back to specific "scenes" in a slide.  These scenes have no specific markers - they are just subsections of the lesson on the slide.

I followed some excellent tips gleaned from Lilybiriblog articles to create my own front and rear buttons, jump on the next breakpoint.

To achieve this, I created a tip with 9 decisions (one for each scene) Action, and every decision said "If currentFrame is between x and y, go to openingFrame + z..  I used the property to enter the slide to set the openingFrame variable in the slide.  In this way, when the button is engaged (front or back), the lesson goes directly at the beginning or at the end of the current 'scene '.

Well, I spent a good 2-3 hours previewing the slide and refine the Action advanced to what it worked exactly as you want, and then I wrote...

To my great disappointment, by clicking on the next button since the beginning of the slide, the lesson jumped right to the end of the slide (which is the action for decision 9 and should only enable if the currentFrame > 2041)

When I then click on the back button on the end of the slide, it would take me back to frame 2030 (where it should bring back me at the beginning of the slide, by progressive clicks).

I then tried the preview of the whole project and got the same result.

It seems that the tip Action works as it should if I get a preview of the slide, but as soon as the other slides are published, all but the last decision of the tip Action are ignored!

I'm writing this, I give account of a workaround would be to break up the blade in a number of slides-, each holding a scene. This means a lot of extra work and give a very messy result. As much as I plan a number of similar sections of lesson and want to end up with a long list of slides that are actually part of the same section of the lesson.

The other alternative is to learn Javascript and use it to create the nested IF statement - that sounds like a lot of overhead and puzzle to make something that looks like it was designed to operate within 9 Captivate.

I hope that logical - you would be very grateful if anyone can shed some light?

How and when did the variable 'openingframe' gets its value? The event that is used to assign a value to this var?

The event that triggers this conditional action? You have other interactive objects on the slide to this event? Maybe post a screenshot of the timeline.

I suspect that this could be done in another way, less complicated. But I need more information. Last jump is more 2063 frames, which means little more than a minute: who is the duration of a slide? Navigation Frame is never very says, that personally I wouldn't use it for these big jumps, but try to split this slide in multiple slides, which would mean you will have more than one frame of departure and you won't have that many. Is - that follow you the action by inserting the two variables 'openingframe' and 'cpInfoCurrentFrame' in a text container?  Just a couple of ideas, because I suspect that the value of "openingframe" is not correct. Where my first questions.

  • Creating conditional actions based on the results of the quiz

I have a quiz at the end of my captivate file and I try to get to show different based on images if you have passed the quiz, or if you failed. For example if you pass, I want to show an image of the tick, and if you do not have an image of the cross, on the results slide.

I tried to create this by implementing a conditional action. I put the two images on the slide and they hid. Then I have a conditional action value:

    IF
cpQuizInfoPointsscored greater than or equal to 70

    ACTION

    See the Image_tick

    ON THE OTHER

    See the Image_cross

When I play the quiz or image shows that I have success or failure (the quiz is set to a 70% pass - there are 10 questions, and all are worth 10 points)
I am new to Captivate so that any help would be appreciated!
    Thank you

Each action must be triggered by 'something', which is an event. You must attach to an event, I suspect that the event on enter score slide is one that suits. Select the slide of score, look in the properties panel, tab Actions, perform actions on enter, choose the action.

In addition, there is a difference between the system variable cpQuizInfoPointsscored and cpInfoPercentage. Personally, I would use the simpler cpQuizInfoPassFail:

IF cpQuizInfoPassFail is equal to 1

    See the tick

    On the other

    See the cross
