Captivate 9 just all my conditional actions converted to standard actions

This isn't a problem converting 8 Captivate. I spent several hours this morning, creating conditional actions and by assigning them to the learning map that I create in Captivate 9. I save the file several times along the way and also at the end.

Then, I went to lunch and attended a meeting. When I got home and has reopened the case in order to duplicate and modify the existing conditional actions, I found that they were converted to standard actions, and my settings of variables and expressions had been dropped.

I have not a screenshot of what it is supposed to look like - these are actions "and then" which were associated with the first condition. The second condition and all the "else" statements have been abandoned.

I had to have this ready to present to my boss before the end of the day--and I would have, if I didn't all start again. And how do you know if that this never happens again?  ARGH!

SOMEONE HAS THAT HAPPEN, AND IS THERE A SOLUTION?

No, they have not installed the patch for 9.0.1.320 nor the 9.0.0.230 fix. You are always on the first version that had this bug, resolved by a hotfix released shortly after the first version. This patch is now included in the patch you need to install as soon as POSSIBLE.

  • CP9 why/how to convert all my conditional actions standard actions?

I have a CP8 project I've been working for a few months now and finally upgraded to CP9. I realized immediately that one of my intelligent form buttons using rollover States had not the rollover State postponed from 8 to 9, so I saved a copy of the file in CP9 for I can have both versions open by-side if I could go back in the file CP8 to see how configure the States of turning so I could rebuild them at 9. This really isn't a big deal, but I find that each of my Advanced actions have been converted to a standard action.

This is a preview of action in CP8:

    Clipboard03.jpg

And it is so, it now appears in the CP9

    Clipboard05.jpg

Everything else in the file, except buttons of smart shape with bearing States, is intact, as I can tell. What I am confused by, that's why/how each conditional action has been converted into a standard action. What I can see, everything inside the IF and ELSE statements have been purged and all under the Actions across all decisions have been combined together, as well as any action that refers to a variable being disconnected from the variable.

Fortunately, I did a lot of work on the file so I can re - open and re-save the file CP8 again, but it's just a weird super bug.

This is a bug known, already mentioned in this forum, just after the liberation. A patch is promised as soon as POSSIBLE to fix.

Solution: do a little editing of the conditional action, so that you can use the update action button. When the backup actions are conditional. BTW, they are not converted to an advanced action level but to a shared standard action.

  • [Captivate 6] Indicator completion using conditional actions

    Hello

I'm looking to implement an indicator of achievement in the form of an image is displayed next to the link to a specific section to show that it is has been visited, to achieve this, I did the following

    1. [Page 1] 3 (smart form configured to use like button) buttons, 3 images (located in invisible on output) Image1, Image 2 and 3
    2. Link 1 [page 2] back button on slide 1
    3. [Page 3] 1 button link to slide 1
    4. [Page 4] 1 button link to slide 1

    Variables:

    • Sec1Done, value 0
    • Sec2Done, value 0
    • Sec3Done, value 0

    Conditional actions:

    • IF [Sec1Done] is equal to 1 THEN show Image1
    • IF [Sec2Done] is equal to 1 THEN show Image2
    • IF [Sec3Done] is equal to 1 THEN show Image3

    Action (as input):

    • [Slide] Assign the Sec1Done with 1
    • [Slide] Assign the Sec2Done with 1
    • [Slide] Assign the Sec3Done with 1

Now, when I click on the link in section 1 (slide 1) then click the button back (slide 2) the Image1 does not appear, then is the same for slides 3 and 4.

I've included a link to the project (hosted on mettle) if all goes well to make it more clear

A little difficult, have several posts on similar configurations, but do not understand your explanation. You don't specify what events trigger actions at all. Why not use the Back buttons to change the value of variables? And the event that triggers the conditional action? I suspect that this is the event to enter the slide Menu?

I suspect that you want something like that, watch the movie:

  • Conditional action does not not at the exit slide

    Captivate 5.0 - q: non-critical

I just got a conditional action which did not work if I he attributed to on drag the output, but it does not work if I assign it to a button.

The tip action was a conditional action:

    If: variable = yes

    Then:

    new variable set

    go to slide 50

    On the other

    Go to the next slide

It was weird.  It only works if I assigned to a button.

    This happened to someone else?

    Hello

When we talk about advanced actions let you always only to use the "On Exit" event when you know that the reading head will reach the last image of a slide, which is certainly not always the case. Please check if you don't have a button or other interactive object on this slide that will prevent default action of navigation on ways to an object that navigation will be the scope of the suspension point of this object, and that the playhead has never reached the last image. The fact that you mention this tip action is functional from a button, confirms in a way my suspicion.

  • Captivate 9 corrupt conditional Actions

One of my co-workers recently updated to Captivate 9. When it opens files created in Captivate 7 and 8, they view, edit, and preview well. But once she saves them (convert to Captivate 9) all conditional actions get deleted. They are from the Cp7 or Cp8 conditional actions convert all in stock Standard. (If) conditions and the other information are lost, and all sub scripts get pushed in a standard action column. All variable assignments are also hidden.

If someone else hit this problem and if so, is there a solution? I have over 200 different courses spanning four languages. I can't afford to have 9 Cp corrupt all the.

It is everywhere in this forum, you must have missed it. A fix is available,

You can google for the hotfix in Captivate 9?

  • conditional actions in Captivate 6

I use the trial version of Captivate 6.  I just started using more complex advanced actions, so I don't know if its me or the software that does not work

I have a class which forks.  The user chooses a course of action on slide 2, and they move in the course.  However, I need them to see all the path options until the course is completed, so on the last slide, he brings them to slide 2.  I want the possibility that the initial of the user selected grey outside, so they click on a new option.

Here are 2 Slide.  The transparent blue circle should only when returning to the slide for the second time if the user has clicked this option before.  I even added the variable to the slide (just for me) to make sure that the variable changed from 0 to 1 when you click on it.  The part works.

Here is the part of the action. If the variable (real estate agent) = 1 show the smartshape (transparency on top) ELSE hide transparency.

Ok.  How do you call this conditional Action?  You use the event drag YOU enter?

  • Problem of numerical comparison conditional Action

I read the long blog of Rod Ward on conditional actions in Captivate, which seems to tell me if I have a user with a numeric variable and I'm comparing it with a literal value of-1 to see if they are equal, it should work fine because, as Rod, says "what is happening under the hood is that strings are first converted to digital before be assessed values.  However, it clearly doesn't.  That's what I have for the IF condition: VariableName is equal to-1.  The value of the variable declared in the Console (via a call to cpAPIInterface.getVariableValue ()) is - 1.  And yet the conditional action performs the ELSE action instead of the action of the YEW, as if he thinks that the variable, the value is - 1 is NOT equal to-1.  Captivate is certainly not lame that it can't handle the sign less on the - 1!  Anyone has an idea why it wouldn't work?

I was waiting a bit to see if any of the other advanced/prolific contributors would be consistent with an opinion opposite to one Lilybiri expressed, but no one has.  I appreciate the offer of Lilybiri for help .  For awhile, I thought his assertion that Captivate couldn't handle

    If varname is equal to-1

correctly.  I created a test case very simple to try to confirm, one who had nothing else going on at all to blur the.  I was surprised when it worked very well comparing a variable with-1.  Then I noticed other places in our advancement of existing shares that already rely on it working properly, and they worked as expected.  So I was banging my head against it to try to understand the real reason for a few hours it did not work and then I discovered there are TWO assets, click boxes on this slide, which enabled the AA I had been struggling with and another who had not changed but should be doing the same action as the ELSE the other action.  So basically, I discovered it wasn't a problem with the check against-1, such that it was originally, but execution of the evil AA.

In addition, if Rod blog comment is correct ("what's happening under the hood is that strings are first converted into digital values before being evaluated"), it SHOULD work perfectly to compare negative numbers.  And it looks good now.

  • My conditional Actions become advanced actions?

This happened to me like 5 times... I always use variables to create checkpoints on the subjects or the buttons, so when my student visit them all Cp invites with a Windows with something like: congratulations, you've seen then all now to the next slide, blah blah...

BUT: The conditional actions often turn into advanced actions and some actions that I had programmed, make me start all lose... (I have backups, but very annoying sound copy slides, which causes problems of its own related actions).

Anyone know why this happens? I understand that this only happens when I continue to make changes in my project, but I always try to leave the variables and objects involved in the action intact.

Just sharing and looking for some toughts

I assume you are using Captivate 9? The issue you have now detected immediately after the liberation, and there is hotfix that you have to install to prevent the conversion of advanced conditional actions in standard common action. Take a look on:

  • "All the conditions are met" - not exactly?

Hello again! I'm experimenting a little, set up a mock up of the slightly more complicated project of Captivate to help some of my practice of co-workers with Captivate. I am under a problem but with one of my examples:

I put a map of the world and six text entry areas to invite a user to name the continents (except Antarctica). I attributed to each box TE an associated variable where it is placed, that is the entrance area of text on Europe is associated with linked a variable titled 'in Europe. I want the slide does not advance until all mailboxes of YOU are properly labelling of each continent.

Currently, for each main entry text box, rather than by a single shipment, a peak action occurs which assigns the associative variables with a literal name. For example, for action advanced in North America, marked NA_Check, it has an action to display a caption saying 'okay' and assign the NorthAmerica variable with a literal: "North America".

An advanced global action runs when a user is trying to push a "Continue" button that checks the State of the variables. The conditional action because its properties 'if' that all the conditions are met with Asia = 'Asia', Africa = 'Africa', etc. of all human beings "AND". I assumed that with all of them being 'AND' they must all be true for this check properly. However, I have separate legends for the success or failure, and for some reason all I have to do is to get two correct and I can go forward as if I was 100% correct.

I thought that maybe it had to do with the variables being assigned prematurely, so I made an action on enter which assigns each variable with "0" so that the entry in the text box would be the only way to make the correct variables. This doesn't seem to work. Any thoughts? Why only do two of the 6 conditions for success when I list all necessary?

I'm not sure. Maybe a bug in the code of Captivate?

I think I might rather assign some values to variables and do some calculations, and proceed only if the result is equal to a specific value.

    But that's just me... Rick

  • Captivate 9 - How to add multiple actions to a button

HI all, on Captivate 9 I have created a status display slide with four buttons, so when the user clicks on each button, they will see different content.

I want to force the navigation to make sure that the user clicks on THE 4 buttons (in order that), before being able to see the button "NEXT" will appear on the screen that will allow them to move to the next slide.

I think I need to create variables and stocks advanced on each button to create this logic, but how do I add additional actions on the same button? Under 'The ACTION', I see that all the buttons have an action to open the contents of the status display when you click on:

    action-captivate.jpg

Is it possible to add another action to the same button?  Please share instructions to help me create the logic to do this? Thank you very much.

You need user variables and conditional action with two decision for each of your buttons. I posted this workflow many times, but it's so hard to find the wire. Another try:

    1. Create 4 variables v_one, v_two... v_four with a default value of 0. they will be changed to 1 when the user clicks on the associated button.
    2. Create a conditional advanced action for each button, with two decisions:
      1. First decision 'Always' is a standard simulated action
IF 1 is equal to 1
        Assign the v_one with 1
Change the State of...             the action that you had one this time
      2. Second decision "CheckVars".
IF v_one is equal to 1 AND
        v_two is equal to 1...
        ....
        is equal to 1
        See the Bt_Next
        Select Bt_Next

Create a similar action to each button, only the first decision will have to be modified (the variable and the state change).

The Bt_Next button should be hidden in the output to start with. Don't forget to define points of suspension of the 4 buttons at this very moment. For the next button, you can have a break at the same time or later.

  • What are the variables system will report to the LMS for the completion of the course, when there is a test (developed with conditional actions manually).

I developed a course where the learner must pass the test to complete the course in LMS.

I developed a quiz (quiz developed using conditional actions) manual.

Now I want my course should show in LMS completion status, only after the learner either in quiz.

How do my report course to the LMS of completion criteria?

I use 6 Captivate and LMS is CSOD.

I tried to include in quiz option is not working for me... anyone have any ideas to fix this?

    Thanks in advance

Have you checked that Panel Advanced Interaction, please? All of the marked objects that are indicated to be added to the total of the Quiz are part of all system Quizzing variables. Insert a slide to score in your project and check the result when previewing in the browser or after publication.

  • Creating conditional actions based on the results of the quiz

I have a quiz at the end of my captivate file and I try to get to show different based on images if you have passed the quiz, or if you failed. For example if you pass, I want to show an image of the tick, and if you do not have an image of the cross, on the results slide.

I tried to create this by implementing a conditional action. I put the two images on the slide and they hid. Then I have a conditional action value:

    IF
cpQuizInfoPointsscored greater than or equal to 70

    ACTION

    See the Image_tick

    ON THE OTHER

    See the Image_cross

When I play the quiz or image shows that I have success or failure (the quiz is set to a 70% pass - there are 10 questions, and all are worth 10 points)
I am new to Captivate so that any help would be appreciated!
    Thank you

Each action must be triggered by 'something', which is an event. You must attach to an event, I suspect that the event on enter score slide is one that suits. Select the slide of score, look in the properties panel, tab Actions, perform actions on enter, choose the action.

In addition, there is a difference between the system variable cpQuizInfoPointsscored and cpInfoPercentage. Personally, I would use the simpler cpQuizInfoPassFail:

IF cpQuizInfoPassFail is equal to 1

    See the tick

    On the other

    See the cross

  • conditional action passed to standard action - why?

I work with a lot of conditional actions in my file (date limit rushed, will spend actions of timeshare learning soon). All my actions conditional on the slides were working, but I had to add a few items here and there, so I've been reviewing actions to add a few lines to show/hide. I've updated 2 blades without problem, now on my third 3 slide all conditional actions, that I created have changed somehow standard action. I'm not sure what I did to make this happen, but I need to not do it again. Can anyone provide an overview?

If it comes to Captivate 9, which I suspect the issues you MENTION, install this hotfix:

  • Conditional actions / not conditional actions

    Hello

I would like, if possible, to run certain actions embedded in other actions not 'conditional actions' but using some sort of "of course run this action.

I try to explain myself better:

I have a different actions: Action1, Action2 , Action3 , and and I need to run the two separately, but I want to create another action where I can run all the previous actions in sequence, but not whit a condition.

    ActionALL must therefore:

    -Then run Action1,

    -Run then Action2

    -Run then Action3

    -Close document

for now the only solution I've found is: If the document is landscape run Action1 and, if not, run Action1, but is not a nice solution, I ask if ther is a better way...

    Thanks in advance.

    Alberto

You might have an action play other actions.

Just make a new action to hit record and play the other actions that you want to include.

  • Several conditional Actions required to Slide "on entry.

I have a Captivate 7 file with a main Menu that contains 5 buttons that take users through 5 submenus. There are buttons that launch other project files on each submenu.

On the submenus when a user performs a project file, the file closes and a variable puts a check mark on the top of the key to display this project is completed. Once a user makes all projects on a submenu, the button in the main Menu which directs user to the submenu then will have a tick on the top of the key to show the submenu is complete.

This works well with many variables; standard actions on the buttons and a conditional action advanced on the "on entrance" for the slide.

Question I have is that on each slide to make a Visual indicator that indicates the total percentage of full user (6 built images showing 0,20,40,60,80 & amp; 100). I created a conditional action that shows a relevant picture but my question is how to integrate only next to entry. Have you thought to use on output to show the image correctly on each slide, so that when the user visits a slide good picture - unfortunately it does not work.  Someone at - it ideas? Is it possible to drag on entry perform two separate conditional actions?

    Any great fully received help!

You can put decisions as much as you want in a conditional to the progress of the actions. How much time do you have for now? All the statements in any fast action are always evaluated, which is not always the case in conditions in a programming language. Sequence is of course very important, both in the statements and decisions.
