• Rollover area appeared on all slides

  If you change a Captivate 5.5 project I realized that at some point, I did something to enlarge a rollover on all slides area. When editing, I saved the file under a new name where I needed to go back to the original. When I check the file plus the rollover area is not there. I checked the master slide, and it is not a bearing on it. I can't click on it to remove it. I'd appreciate any help to do this, go away. Thank you.

  Your screenshot of the first slide shows not all objects.  See the scroll bar on the right side?  Are there flipping objects more near the top of the timeline?  There may be a hidden up there which lasted for the rest of the project.

  It is easy to miss one of these objects if it is layer has been disabled via the small 'eye' icon at the left end of the diaper.  If you think you've found the slide where this persistend object, try to hide this entire slide and do a test post to see if the object of reversal and then disappears.  If so and you can't find the object on this slide anywhere, it might indeed be corrupted.  In this case, delete and re-create the slide from scratch.  The last thing that needs any developer of corrupt Captivate Slides.

• Rollover buttons and rollover areas

  I created a button on the Fireworks that turns from blue to purple on rolling and when I imported it in Captivate 5 it works perfectly. However when I added a rollover of the change button area is more color. I'd like some ideas on how to make this work.

  I tried to place the rollover behind the button area and it changes color, but the legend of turnover does not appear. I also tried not using a rollover area and rather by changing the properties of button on success: Show > text of the legend and that works ok except that I don't want the slides to continue because there is still other buttons I want the Viewer to the press before continuing. I feel there are a few advanced Actions that I could use but do not know how to configure them.

  It is not possible to do otherwise.  I tried all the other ways I could think of first.

  Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

  Recovery methods:
   
  If you are running XP/SP3, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.
   
  To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.
   
  Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.
   
  In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.
   
  Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.
   
  Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.
   
  First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.
   
  If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.
   
  If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.
   
  If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

  A general warning to help avoid this in the future:
   
  Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.
   
  Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages.   How to remove the gray area above the top margin of 0?  I try to keep my top margin to move the negative.

  Maybe I did not understand at first. try to do a select on your pages or master pages and make sure that you don't have an invisible element like a text box empty under the header.

  No way, I am aware to do this for these objects.

  But if it's a slidelet area, you have the ability to right click on the rollover area and choosing to redraw the shape. You could then approximately an oval by clicking several times until you got the oval.

• Reshape the rollover area

  I have a pie chart I would like to provide additional information using the animated buttons. I thought I'd be able to do this using a smart polygon shape for each part of my pie chart and then use convert to a smart form reversal. However, that appears to convert the smart form into a text box and keeps the rectangular button that is animated. This seems rather backwards. Someone at - he a clue as how to shape the rollover instead of the text box area? Thank you.

  Indeed, it is the smart form which is transformed into a form of substitution as the Tip mentioned, but the rollover area is always a rectangle.

  Should it be a bearing, a click is not an alternative? If you can deal with the clicks: create a form with the desired shape and turn it into a button.

  If you really need rollover, then you should buy the Eventhandler's InfoSemantics widget, it allows you to create rollover events.

  Another solution is to use a slidelet. For slidelets, it is possible to 'Redraw' the rollover area.

  Hi Peter

  While you may not use an image as part of the bearing, there should be nothing stopping you from simply insert an additional image to use for this.

  In regard to the two regions being selected and moving when you want only one, I would ask if the image is large enough that it covers part of the rollover area? If so, who could explain it. The regions should be able to be controlled independently. But sometimes, he must first reduce the size of the rollover image to make room for the rollover area, if you want to focus on that. Once done, you should be able to restore the size of the image and reposition if necessary.

• Captivate 6 skin Border - right border are not displayed

  I use Adobe Captivate 6.0.1.240 and Windows 7 Professional.

  I have a new project that I created with Captivate (run in administrator mode) 6.  This project was not imported from the PPT, and it was not created in an earlier version of Captivate. New fresh project only never touched by 6 Captivate.

  I'm in the early stages of development, and all that I have in the project so far are the images and text captions - no animation, no interaction, no effect is set up, no shadow applied image.

  I configured a skin with a border and the right border shows intermittently. In this case if I noticed the next 5 slides, preview in a web browser, or publish files and execute them in Internet Explorer or Firefox.

  I have turned the skin market, changed the skin, deleted my files published and republished force fresh.

  I have edited all my images in PhotoShop to make sure none of them exceed the width of my project, updated images in the library and reviewing the whole image and the master slide settings to ensure no image go off the stage.

  The best I could achieve, is that at least some of the slides show the right border.

  I saw a post from a similar question published in February and a response indicating a fix would be held with a patch soon, but I've not found anything more about the correction.

  Any help would be appreciated here.

  As a solution to this problem (because I hate to leave things hanging open), I want to add that I had missed the re-sizing some of my images. I had few more who have an original size which exceeded the size of the stage. As I went back through my images and resized in PhotoShop, I managed to clear up this issue on most of my slides.

  Work on an online application. Downloaded on my HDD and fill me in the blanks using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. Typewriter in general but I want to use a text box to a large area of lots of hits. How to remove the Red edge "BOLD"?

  You can view the properties bar by pressing Ctrl + E. Then select the text box, and you should see where you can change the color of the border or remove by setting the border to nothing.

  In the Add-ons Manager I see that I have 13 plugins that are DISABLED. 2 of them are Java vulnerability.

  They are active, most likely in Firefox. Especially things like Flash and silverlight. As a guest post Thunderbird doesn't allow plugins and pose a risk to security. But as they are already installed, they are disabled by default.

  It's just like you only have to install a printer once and see all applications. Then you try and remove paint because you do not use a printer it is.

  When I run the Profile Manager only two profiles appear. One is the default value and the other is the current.
  When I look in the C:\users\[name]\appdata\roaming\mozilla\firefox\profiles directory, there are six listed profiles:

  Firefox should not create a new profile in itself.
  
  If profiles are lost and a new default profile (xxxxxxxxx.default) has been created it looks like while at this time there was a problem with the file profiles.ini which caused Firefox to create a new profile.
  
  A reset would create a new default profile with a timestamp attached and manually create a profile suggests a "default user" as the name.
