Captivate 9 compatibility JAWS

I have accessibility features works pretty well, after a lot of trial and error.  There are always two elements that make it impossible to say that Captivate can be compatible with screen readers.

1. the reading of the text is always interrupted by the saying "Graphical" screen reader  It's very embarrassing and I can't make it go away.  Please understand this and create a patch to make this stop!

2. it has no interaction issue pre-made who really work with a screen reader. It is extremely important that Adobe at least gives us an option that will read the following in a logical way that our community with a visual impairment can use:

1. read the question

2. read each of the possible answers

3. ensure to the method of selection of the correct answer is clearly indicated

4 read the comments to the answer and tell the user to try again if the answer is correct.

I could tell from research on the internet there is no other rapid development tool that can provide this functionality.  I'd be able to forget the other Captivate defects if we could have a purpose of the question that works correctly, and please do stop saying 'graphic '!

If there is a solution to workaround or other means to set up a file to make existing issues work with a screen reader, please let me know!

Adobe contacted me to ask about my reviews of product if I've published in the SWF or HTML5 and then did not return email I sent back.  I tried to create a sensitive project and JAWS still reads the legends of text as "graphics".

Thanks for the tips, I thank you for your time.  I'm not going to pursue this.  Captivate does not work with JAWS / NVDA / VoiceOver or in any reliable and useful, if all goes well they can fix it someday.

  • The upgrade to Captivate 4 - compatibility

If I switch to Captivate 4, I will be able to open and edit the items created in Captivate 2?  I will lose any functionality?  (I have a single-user license and no longer had access to Captivate 2 after the upgrade)

I don't remember having problems when I went from 1 to 2, and I know that I had no problem from 2 to 3. (Have not bought 4 again). I didn't have a problem opening/using one of my cp files created in earlier versions. I guess you should be fine and that there maybe something "flukey" with your particular file or machine. (How's that for technical terminology.) But try this - install the trial version of v4 (if you want to feel very safe, place it on a different computer - a colleague, if you do not yet have one of your own) and then try to open your old files .cp.

  • Adobe Captivate 6 swf browser compatibility

Hi I wanted to know the compatibility with browsers when I publish a SWF using Adobe Captivate 6.  It supports all browsers? Even older versions of Internet Explorer?

The question you should ask is what versions of Flash Player supports.  And the answer is: the versions of Flash Player 9 to 11.

If your browser (even a former) is able to run these versions of Flash Player, then you can be sure content Captivate SWF can work in it.

My current client is still on IE7 with Flash Player 10.3 and content Captivate works very well.

  • Compatibility of Captivate

    Hi all

I have a few question about the compatibility between Captivate CS3 and CS4.

Can I open a captivate document which was created under the CS4 version with the CS3 version?

Adobe still sells the captivate version CS3?

Do I have to buy a CS4 version?

    Laurent

    Hello

You can open a Captivate created Captivate 4 project 3 (upward compatibility).

You cannot open a created Captivate 4, Captivate 3 project. Backward compatibility is not supported in captivate.

Your query enters the points mentioned above.

  • Captivate 8 browser compatibility list

Hi new to the forum, I hope that I can add to this forum, rather than simply asking questions, but for now I just have a question. A customer asked us to use 8 Captivate for a project (as opposed to rival software), with which we have created the models base for and so far, everything looks good. However, they asked to provide us with a list of browsers currently supported for a published captivate project. I'm guessing this will stop in two columns, HTML5 & Flash.

Thank you for this question is probably "how long is a piece of string" with respect to what don't you class as support but a rough list would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Splodge360,

Captivate HTML5 output is compatible with the following browsers:

On Windows : IE9/10/11 & Chrome 34 (or most recent)

On Mac & IOS : Safari 7.0.1(or latest)

Output SWF works fine in the browser, which is supported by Flash Player.

  • Captivate CS3 / CS4 Compatability

    Hello

I work in a mixed environment.  The organization that I provide eLearning uses a license of CS3 captivate the entire organization, and I use CS4 to create content.  I did have to make sure that the content I have create crosses lines version so I was wondering: is Adobe Captivate CS4 compatible with CS3 or is there a way to read a file CS4 CS3?

I can't force him to change the version of Captivate that they use, but if I can do it is possible to use the content I create, that would be great!

I really want to go back to the use of CS3.  I loved it but I like the CS4 a lot better now.  If only they would see that too...

    Hello

Captivate is only compatible with to the front. You cannot take a file from version Captivate 4 and continue editing using Captivate version 3. I'm sorry.

In addition, CS3 refers to the Creative Suite 3, which does not Captivate.

    See you soon... Rick

  • When you install Adobe Captivate getting the error "the installer was interrupted... »

Try installing Adobe Captivate 2 in 64-bit Windows 7, I get an error message saying "InstallShield Wizard has been interrupted... "Windows 7 compatibility tool has been no help. Captivate 2 was installed correctly in Windows XP Service Pack 2 or 3 (I can't remember which). Why it will not install in Windows 7, and how can I fix the problem?

Original title: Application of captivate 2 interrupted installshield program compatibility

    Hi tdunkle,

    ·         Have you tried the convenience store or installed in compatibility mode?

Adobe Captivate 2 is not compatible for use with Windows 7. Check out the following link.

Macromedia France - Captivate: Captivate Release Notes

You can try to install in compatibility mode and see if it helps.

    (a) right click on the configuration file (the file setup.exe for the software), and then select Properties.

    (b) now, click on the Compatibility tab and check the box that says run this program in compatibility mode for.

    (c) select Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Click on apply and OK.

    (d) now right-click on the configuration file and select run as administrator and follow the normal installation procedure. Check to see if it helps.

I have a project with a bunch of videos. For maximum compatibility with users of bandwidth, I used the YouTube video widget for the vids are hosted by another person.

Your cited version of Captivate 9 is currently at least two updates behind.  I suggest you be updated 9.0.2 as soon as possible and make sure that all your Interactions training are updated at the same time, otherwise you could be led by more pain.

There have been recent discussions on this forum about video suddenly stop working in Interactions of training thanks to YouTube and Vimeo finally disable support for the API Flash video (something they have given warning about over 18 months).  These threads suggested other video delivery methods.

  • Name/Description of the accessibility not read by JAWS

I have a course, built in 9 Captivate, which works very well in all areas except for one thing.  JAWS will read the names/descriptions of accessibility on the images.  I published it so a SWF in HTML5, but the result is always the same: the launch of course, plays audio narration, captioning appears, but image descriptions are ignored.  Someone at - he never experience this before?  If so, were you able to determine the cause and solution?  Thanks in advance!  I really appreciate it!

In this post: Re: JAWS screen reader read do not captivate the legend text file,

RodWard provides some tips on accessibility which is closer, with details in a report.

It can get closer you to a solution.

  • Can I use my Android 8 Captivate video?

Can I use the video I took on my Android to incorporate it into my Captivate 8 files? I'm sure that the answer is Yes. I have to make a path to the directory properly where the video is saved, correct? Until here I have read it my hard drive?

    Thank you

Even if the video format is MP4, I suggest you re - encode with the Adobe Media Encoder application supplied with Captivate because it seems to improve the compatibility of videos with Captivate.

For your potential end users, your video must be delivered from a web server.  If you get it to run from your local hard drive will depend on several factors.  You can see that it will not work due to browser security.

  • Captivate and audition

I get a loading message Audition CS5.5 when I try to access to newly installed hearing CC2015 leave 7 Captivate.  Is there a solution?

I posted to the extent possible (yet) there is a compatibility problem between 8 Captivate (released over a year ago) and the new hearing and released as CC 2015 Photoshop. Too bad there is no official announcement on the matter.

CC2015 of hearing will be nonfunctional if you use editing with Audition button in the Audio dialog box. However, it should be possible to use it for editing audio clips in the library, using the right click menu, edit with...

The other solution, probably too late, was to keep the old version of the CC2014 of the hearing, during the installation of the last being. This isn't the default configuration, only when you click the Advanced Options button was it possible to uncheck the option "Versions previous Remover". In this case the back and forth with hearing (and Photoshop) would continued to be functional with the previous version.

  • Official word on Captivate 8 and 10 of Windows?

    Hi all

I was wondering if there is no official word from Adobe on the compatibility between Captivate 8 and 10 of Windows yet?

    Thank you kindly,

    Nicole

I have not seen it mentioned in everything from Adobe so far. If it is not in the technical under system requirements specification, you must assume for the moment that Cp8 is NOT compatible.

    http://www.Adobe.com/products/Captivate/tech-specs.html

In the past, when new versions of a major operating system first came out, there was often problems with compatibility.  If you need to Captivate to work on your OS and it is critical to your day-to-day productivity, DO NOT rush in and install the latest OS and hope for the best.  Install an operating system is usually a street one-way (or at least VERY inconvenient for roll-back).

If it turns out that Cp8 does NOT work with Windows 10, past experience of similar questions (for example 6 Captivate with Windows 8) suggests that you could relate to upgrade to the next version of the Cp for compatibility. If a patch is released for the older compatible version, you can be waiting weeks or months for it.

  • Captivate 7 starts no problem with a temporary file

Hello. It seems that I'm not the only one having a problem when you try to launch Captivate (7) (7, 64-bit) Windows. See other thread here: https://forums.adobe.com/message/5916670#5916670

Captivate used to launch without a hitch. Then I took a break in the program for a few months (could also have downloaded some Captivate 7 about Add-ons then too: App Packager, Quiz results Analyzer, reviewer).

Now when I try to open the program, my antivirus AVG says that one automatically generated "CP" file in user > AppData > Local > Temp folder has a 'unknown' moderate risk and should be removed. After that she did this, the Captivate launch window remains suspended until a dialog box asking if I want to force close.

If I scan with AVG Temp folder, he found no threat. I also scanned it with a Microsoft tool that has found no threat.

The file which seems to cause the problem seems to be generated at the time of the launch (so need the temporary Captivate file for the session, which would be naturally stored in Temp).

I can assume there is a compatibility problem with an update of the Windows 7 system. If everyone in the world with Windows 7 and 7 Captivate now has this problem, we can probably assume that this question.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Captivate (after ask Adobe if it would be ok, because I can not open the program to disable the first license). - But still have a problem after a new installation CD.

The Adobe Captivate team - is anyone following this topic? Comments would be appreciated because I don't know what to do next and need support.

@ Erik Lord, thank you, but it was not a question of AVG.

In the case where others facing this problem, I will describe my experience.

I had already tested the Captivate launch with the Temp folder excluded in AVG anti-virus (which is not ideal, because other viruses could find themselves there and not projected). That did not work. AVG has always presented the message.

I tried to temporarily disable all AVG (right click on icon in the toolbar View menu for this). That did not work. The program just hung.

A beautiful Adobe technical person remotely took control of my computer to make a diagnosis.

At the end of the day, it deleted all of my fonts (except system fonts that would not remove) and the program successfully launched after that. (I had installed recently many new policies - as well as brushes Photoshop, actions & bosses. Interestingly, the PS had been much slower to boot, which I thought was due to the new 'active', but I had not considered loading in Captivate fonts, as they would in most all other programs. It turns out that at least one of them had corrupted code.)

Unfortunately, I still have a small problem, but it is manageable until I have to remember Adobe. The Tech support guy had an account administrator to troubleshoot issues where Captivate launches beautifully. After I removed this connection (at startup) and just use my normal user account, Captivate has got the same message error AVG - but this time, not with the launch but a minute or so later. Also, when I said AVG to fix the problem, Captivate is not stopped and I could continue to work in it as usual. I would say that I need to go back and look at the fonts that were left, but at least it's type of work at the moment. This will not mark as resolved immediately in case there is more to add soon.
