Captivate 9 don't launch/open

Hello

I have been using Captivate today without any problems.  Evening, I had to go back and cannot start the application.  It let's me click it and nothing happens.

Is the best plan of action to uninstall and reinstall the program?  If so, is there anything that I'd be suspicious when you do?  Did I lose my Captivate files?

Feeling a little anxious so any advice is greatly appreciated.

You will not lose your Captivate files, they must be stored in your Documents folder (hope that's on your system, or you did change the default paths in the preferences?). First try a few other workflow before reinstalling:

  • Clear cache, but probably because CP doesn't start at all, you will not be able to use the button in the preferences. Keep the default path for the Cache folder?
  • Cleaning preferences: this is possible without start CP. Run the CleanPreferences file that corresponds to your operating system, are in the subfolder "Utils" under the CP installation folder. You have access to this folder (depends on your rights)? If this isn't the case, will give an alternative.
  • Run the Captivate as Administrator: who do you have?
  • If you have access to the installation folder, you may be able to find the exe file and try to run it from there?

    I must say that I get pretty bored with how buggy Captivate 6 turns out to be. It seems to hang a large part of the time (when you open a project or after publication) and publishes often with lots of red boxes instead of my images (even when my high quality setting). Nevertheless, I can work around this problem by emptying the cache, restart my computer etc but I can't seem to get around this last bug!

    For some reason, Captivate and keeps crashing when I try to open the variables window (via the menu at the top and through the window advanced actions). I tried emptying my cache and restarting my computer with no luck.

    I also captivate 5.5 installed, so I tried to open the window of variables in this field and it worked well, but once again, captivate 6 frozen when I went back to try again.

    Has anyone else had this problem before and there at - it a way to stop what is happening? I am running windows 7.

    Hi Rick,

    Try to recreate the 6 Captivate preferences. Then launch Captivate 6 as it is run as an administrator

    If the above suggestion does not work, then install 6 Captivate in a new admin account and test the bheavior of 6 Captivate.

  • Captivate Tests don't show complete answers

    Sometimes, our users are not able to complete the tests built with Captivate.

    At the opening of the event, sometimes the answers are not displayed.

    The test contains the list topics numbered without any content.

    We use pool-Questions in order to mix the test sets.

    We are not able to reproduce the systematic error.

    The error occurs sporadically in all configurations of browsers and plugins.

    Some of our users start multiple Captivate quizzes at the same time and then some quizzes contain all the answers.

    Thus, it seems to depend on the number of connections that are active and open simultaneously (on Flash-files).

  • I had to restore my mac from my time machine backup. Now don't launch Captivate (7.0.1.237), it is not yet bounce in the dock.

    Captivate Mac was working fine a few days ago, then after my restore from backup it will not start. It is not I need QUICKLY! I'm on deadline! One of my other Adobe products also has trouble. Since the restoration, Dreamweaver bounces in the dock and but does not entirely. What should I do?

    It turns out that it was a simple problem that I feared. My Mac not TOTALLY restore backup. The tech on the Apple store had recommended to re - install the operating system to a new version and then all my software and files from my time machine. If that's what I did. I don't remember that Mavericks does not include Java runtime, and I never realized that some of my Adobe products require it. I downloaded and installed Java, and now my Adobe products work as expected.

  • Don't launch Dreamweaver cc 2015. Windows said that there is a problem

    I'm having an extremely difficult time getting Dreamweaver 2015 CC trail to launch. I downloaded, uninstalled several times than I can count. Every time when it is preparing to launch, I get the message saying that Windows has encountered a problem and needs to shut down the program. I have an Asus laptop with plenty of storage space. No problem with Captivate and Photoshop. Advice on what to do.

    What operating system do you use?

    Hi guys,.

    So I have Adobe Photoshop CS6 extended on Windows 10. All of a sudden, when I run it, the "initialization" screen comes up, then after she has "done loading", it will immediately and Photoshop ever arises. It shows that the program is open, but clicking on the program does nothing. I noticed this problem first started when I tried to start a free trial of Adobe after effects CC 2015 and launch Photoshop CS6 while CC was running. Don't know what happened.     I was able to fix by booting in safe mode and from Photoshop - since then it has been working well.

  • Don't launch Photoshop CC

    I have a weird problem. I have been using Photoshop 64 bit CC quite happily for the past few weeks.  This morning I used it OK, but more later when I clicked on Photoshop - at all, nothing happens. No error message, no launch - nothing!  The same thing when I went to the 32 but the launch version.

    Even my old Photoshop CS 5.1 still works OK, as CC with Lightroom and Bridge CC.

    I run a Windows 7 PC. Everything on board is legitimate and authorized.  I tried restart and right clicking (open as administrator) and even go in Program Files and double click the file Photoshop.exe - nothing.

    It worked fine a few hours ago, and I did not (knowingly) changes.  Does anyone have any suggestions as I am at a total loss.  I'm not new to computers, but I've never seen any program to do before.

    Thanks for your suggestion.  I had already registered and activated the product and used it for about two weeks.

    About two minutes before that your message, I managed to 'fix' the situation, but I really don't understand what happened.  After running virus scans, restart the PC twice and signing in and out of the clouds, I went the Windows Task Manager and finished each Adobe Service, including that where the name of the service was meaningless, but the description says something like Adobe product manager. When I tried to restart Photoshop, it came with a new screen welcoming me to CC (not the usual window of the CC) and asking me to create or connect with my sign-in of Adobe.

    When I did, he said "this product is now part (my name).  Although already, he was and appeared in my CC account.  From there, the CC PS looked OK (so far).

    So even if the product had been activated and showed as being one of my products CC online, somehow, something on my computer has changed and decided that it was not.  I hope that this won't happen again, but if that's the case I know something I can try is manually never stop the Adobe Service and restart.
