• Captivate 8 HTML5 file does not load

  The published version of a Captivate 8 draft published in HTML5 works fine on the development server (i.e. my laptop), but fails to load in any browser from the production server (the link is http://www.clearcreeklearning.com/emcycle/index.html).   Yes I got it the other day, I found that it was due to a drag and drop slide, I have reproduced the slide and remove the original and it is then loaded fine.

  The current versions of Firefox are 64-bit on OS X, if you need a 64-bit version of Flash with Firefox 6.0.x or you must start Firefox as a 32-bit application to be able to use a 32-bit version of a plugin.

  Took a look at my files... the start page is a legacy file that has been through several versions of RoboHelp, at one point he somehow must have obtained some of the javascript HR calls in there - took the javascript code for the file, rebuilt and everything works again.

  It drives me crazy... I have a simple code that works if it is placed on the internet / run with flash player, same load crossdomain policy file therefore is ok, but whenever I am coding in Flash CS4, it does not load my XML file.   Well I finally found the problem is not on my computer, but the host of the site. He had a certain parameters "mod_security" that prevented the loading of the xml for Flash programming environment.

  So I guess that someone with that WO is going bonkers this same problem should contact their site administrator to ask questions on these parameters.

  Shockwave flash does not load on my computer. Whenever I load a page that has any type of video content, I get a pop up at the top of the page that says "Could not load the Shockwave Flash". I tried to download or install the latest version of Shockwave flash, but it still doesn't work. If I open or read the Internet videos, they charge. Instead, the screen goes gray with a face of puzzle piece in the middle.

  I found a solution. Turns, it was not a case of download a newer player Flash, but I had 2 plugins flash player enabled in Google Chrome and for some reason, having 2 plugins do Flash does not work.

  All I had to do was to disable one of the plugins.

  Restore point:

  Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

  Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

  Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

  After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

  Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

  Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1^st in the boot order.

  Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

  When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

  Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

  Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

  Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
