Catalog does - lrcat.lock file?

Hello.  It seems that lightroom is maybe damaged.  I have really no idea - please help!  This morning, I was working in LR.  everything was fine.  I shut down the computer I normally and I'll be back from an empty LR.  When I open it, I backed up, but then no catalogue appeared.  nothing.  When I tried to open these, as well as several back ups, nothing is displayed.  most of the menu options are gray light, which means that you are unable to access them (for example, file import, open recently, catalogs are gray clear, I don't see yet "about adobe ps lr").  What is c?  When I try to open a file, nothing.

I also noticed a file that appears when I try to open a backup.  It's the same name ends w / lrcat.lock

Help, please!

April

This .lock file indicates that LR think that your catalog is always open. Close

LR; Delete this file (and NOT your actual catalog) and try to turn it back on

A quick look at the files, it seems that all the required files are present and have appropriate entries/sizes. Please try to remove all the .lck files files in the folder to / package virtual machine to see if that solves the problem.

I downloaded Lightroom 6 CC for analysis, but I want to continue to use Lightroom 4.  I am now unable to back up my Lightroom 4 catalog.  Is there a CATALOG.lrcat.lock file in the CATALOG directory.  If I remove this file can I continue use and backup Lightroom 4?  Is there a better way to continue to use Lightroom 4?

Yes, you must delete the. LOCK file.

  • Lightroom 3 catalog does not open

This morning when I started to Lightroom, I have no window and no catalog. I went to my Lightroom folder, double click on the catalogue and he also dragged to the LR icon - without success. There is no locked file in the folder of catalog with the same name as my catalog, so a locked file is not the problem. I can't get a catalog window, and without that I can't make even a new catalog, so I'm dead in the water until I have fix this. Any ideas?

Before you reinstall, try to reset the preferences: given to zero (or "Trashing") the Lightroom preference file. Lightroom Forums

If this does not help, then you must go for resettlement and make sure you have your serial with you key before uninstalling Lightroom.

  • Locking files Lightroom

I want to use Lightroom 2 + separate work stations and edit files on a server. If I open a file server JPG file on a workstation for editing, it blocks the file and prevent the other workstation to modify the same file? Or it will at least give me a warning message that the file is in use?

Lightroom does not lock files nor does it give a warning that he is already accessed. Thus, the two instances of Lr may access the same file at the same time. It only becomes a problem when the user tries to save the settings/developing metadata in the file of each instance of Lr. That is to say, we're going to crush the other. However, given that the original image is a JPEG I'm not sure there is much point savings development parameters in the file.

  • PC crashed during 6 start Lightroom. Now open habit. Can not find the lock file

    Hello.

My PC stops inexplicably while Lightroom 6 began and then just rebooted. (Windows 7 i7 PC)

Now Lightroom does not start and a "Catalog Adobe" said dialog box could not be opened because another application has already opened it.

A quick search on the internet said the locking file must delete, but I'm not. An Adobe help page shows me:[username]\Pictures\Lightroom\Lightroom 5 Catalog.lrcat.lock C:\Users\

First of all, I'm on LR6 and my start up programs are on a small SSD. So if I navigate on this hard drive, then program file Adobe\Adobe Lightroom I see many files, then a may list files. None gives me a clue to what is a lock file or look like lrcat.lock.

I'm not very savy on a PC and would be grateful of urgent assistance. I tried to uninstall the program and then reinstall, but in vain.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi andys62004617,

lock file is located in the exact location as well as your catalog.

Search under Pictures\Lightroom\ Catalog.lock of Lightroom and delete (do not remove the .lrcat files because it's your main catalog)

  • Cannot start a catalog from a backup file

    Hello

Back up files from my iMac to an external hard drive, including all the photos and the Lightroom Catalog by using time machine.

And now I'm on my way with my MCBook Air, it seems I can't launch the catalog (Lightroom Catalog.Ircat) from the backup file on the disk hard ext, he says that "the catalog cannot be used because the parent folder"xxx"does not allow files to be created in the breast of this".

Wouldn't be because the original catalogue was in my iMac hard drive not in this backup ext hard drive? Does it really matter?

However, I can open the Preview.Irdata file catalog Lightroom in Lightroom and import them into the current Lightroom Catalog, that I created in my Macbook Air. When I export the file, the file size appears smaller than usual.

    So my questions are:

1 is there a way I can start the Catalog.Ircat with Lightroom file on the backup ext hard drive?

    2. If the answer is 'no' to the above question, will I create a new lightroom catalog in this backup (for my iMac) ext hard drive, and then import all the pictures once more?

    3. I found there is an option to "Import an another catalog" in Lightroom, it will work for my situation? He did not try as I worry I'll make a mess, and I guess if I can't start this catalogue in the disk hard ext, I am not able to import as well.

    3. the Preivew.Irdata file does not allow me to have the larger size of file to export is that correct?

    4. Finally, what is the suggestion to resolve all these long-term problem? Will I pass all (both from my iMac and Macbook Air) photos on a disk hard ext, and then export the current catalog to my Macbook Air on the same disk hard ext and import photos from my iMac in this catalogue (that is, a single catalog LR)?

Thank you for sharing your experience and your suggestion so that I can better manage the LR catalog and smoothly in the future.

    See you soon,.

    Chuen

    Hi Chuen,

It seems that the external hard drive does not write the changes on it and that's why the error that says "the catalog cannot be used because the parent folder"xxx"does not allow files to be created in the breast of this."

The error is not related to your original catalog being located on the hard drive in the Imac.

I suggest that you copy this file .lrcat and .lrdata from your local external hard drive to a location on your hard drive and try to launch it from there.

If this does not work, then you can go for the option to create a new catalog and 'Import from another catalogue'

Let us know if this is useful or if you need additional assistance.

    Kind regards

    Claes

  • Search engines not available, except in mode "Run as Administrator". delete the parent.lock file profiles did not help

After the upgrade to 21 FF, search engines no longer appear in the bar at the top right of the screen, so no searches are possible. I can navigate to my favorites and apparently also to the links contained in the e-mails.

If I right click on the FF icon and choose the "Run as Administrator" option, the search engines are there again. I tried to delete the parent.lock in the profiles folder, that this solution was solved a problem I've had recently with the previous version of FF (not being not able to open FF and getting the error message on another version of it running, which had to be closed in the first place - but there was no other version running.) In this case, too, before I discovered the solution, I could open FF using the option "Run as Administrator"). However deleting the parent.lock file does not resolve this issue.

I would be grateful for your help, especially if a person not very computer like me can understand put in simple terms!

  • Locked files

After that I bought a new laptop, I manually copied the files over my old laptop. Now with Windows 7, half of my files are locked and I can't open them, he said: "access denied." I'm the only one on this computer and my user profile shows me as 'administrator '.  I've been through everything in Control Panel and does not know how to access these files. Please help, my tax files are in the locked files.

How to grant permissions in Windows 7

    1. Locate the file or the folder where you want to take in charge in Windows Explorer.

    2. right click on the file or folder and select properties from the Menu

    3. click on the Security tab, then click the button change. Click OK to confirm the UAC elevation request if necessary.

4 Select user/group permission windows or click Add to add other user or group (you may need to do this for multiple users - ex: administrator and your own user account).

    5. now under permission section check the rights you want for the user that is to say 'Total control' in the "Allow" column to assign the rights to full access control permissions to the user.

  • Virtual machine locked... can not find the lock file

Sorry if this was picked up elsewhere, but I'm relatively new to the Mac and VMware, and my search proved fruitless, so I thought I'd try to post. The situation is the following:

I'm under VMware 2.0 on a MacBook Pro, and my computer virtual running Windows XP Pro. My Mac has does not respond this morning (on the left in the night market) and if I pressed the power button to restart manually. Once I did, started upward as per normal, but when I opened VMware to start my VM it tells me the my Win XP Pro has been locked. After finding several documented cases of this, I went looking for the lock file, but it is not in my folder /Users/ [name] / Documents/Virtual Machines. When I try to take ownership, he falls down, while it provides a Configuration file: /Users/ [name] / Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/Windows XP/Professional.vmwarevm Windows XP Professional.vmx.

I activated my finder to show all files in the folder (http://www.macworld.com/article/51830/2006/07/showallfinder.html), but still don't see the locking file. I searched (using the projector) for files hard .vmx and .lck .lock, nothing helps. I've seen a lot of discussion of the use of Terminal to solve this problem, but I have little (no) familiarity with Terminal Server or Unix, so I'm a bit wary of doing.

Can someone tell me where I could find this lock file so that I can delete, or if not, how can I solve this problem?

    Thank you.

CTRL-click on the entry in the Virtual Machine library and select Show in Finder and then ctrl-click on the packaging of the Virtual Machine and select the content of the package.

Close the merge and then delete the .lck files/files in the package of the Virtual Machine.

    Retirement of the frightener

Last updated. Just Live Chat with the final answer:

There is a corrupted file that is installed with the product. Find, delete it and PS CS6 it will rebuild properly. Here's how:

    1. click the Start button, type %appdata%\microsoft\windows\sendto, and then press ENTER. This will take you to the roaming folder.

    2. open the Adobe folder. You will see a folder called Adobe Photoshop CS6.

    3. delete the folder Adobe Photoshop CS6.

4 PS CS6 should start now. It will rebuild the Adobe Photoshop CS6 file correctly.

    It worked for me.

    Hello people,

I have a problem when I run lightroom. I'm not able to open my current catalog because they told as below.  I'm sure that there is no instance of lightroomFullscreen capture 6152010 60457 PM.jpg

Apart from that I try ti run now.

I even tried restarting the computer several times to do that no other instances are running. Any suggestions would be really useful.

    Hi Rakesh,

Remove the .lock file in the same folder as your catalog - that should fix it.

  • CF9 and CFBuilder locking files

Someone has a problem with CFBuilder locking files so that
they cannot be renamed, moved, or deleted?  Maybe I'm the web to research
with the research of bad words, but I'm not finding someone else with this
    problem.

It's embarrassing when I'm refactoring of code, but it's especially bad
on switching operation Subclipse trying to change a branch
to the other.  It corrupts my entire working copy where SVN fails to
delete a file that does not exist in the other branch.  Shame on SVN
for does not gracefully, shame on CFBuilder for is not letting
the file I closed it after that.

Sometimes I can get Builder release by opening the file and
close several times.  Other times I have to close CFBuilder
    completely.

I use the local server CF9.0, CFBuilder, 1.0.0.274293, Windows XP.

A friend suggested that I try Unlocker (http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/)

Unlocker shows these two handles on the file:

    Process: CFBuilder.exe
    Locked path: c:\my\file\islocked.cfc
    PID: 548 handle: 1276
    The process path: c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe ColdFusion Builder\CFBuilder.exe

    Process: CFBuilder.exe
    Locked path: c:\my\file\islocked.cfc
    PID: 548 handle: 3740
    The process path: c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe ColdFusion Builder\CFBuilder.exe

My SVN switch always choked, but I understood the steps to recover once the file is unlocked (just run the switch again without trying to change first the mixed version).  Now I can open the files with unlocker.

Still, it's pretty boring.  How can I solve this problem?

Yep, I got it.  It seems to be exclusively with the SWC files.  It is a good PitA bread (and seems useless to me).
