Catalog/missing Photos after the displacement of some backups to trash - HELP!

I use LR 4 and Mac OS x.

I was needing space on my hard drive, so I had to remove a lot of old back LR ups. I've done it before without problem.

I moved the files to the trash and don't delete immediately... I went to open LR and realized that my general catalogue was missing. So I pulled all that out of the trash and 'PUT BACK '.

The catalog is still missing... and LR is not still 'see' that the pictures were there ever or that it existed...

I have the client work there... I'm PANICKING. Someone help me please as soon as POSSIBLE.

Nothing has been deleted or empty the trash. It is new where there should be. What I've done and please tell me how to fix it...

S

We will try to fix a problem at a time...

The reason why you find it slower to load images using the catalog recovered is because you have no probably to recover the cache associated with previews. In this situation, Lightroom creates a previews cache which is initially empty, i.e. whenever you open an image in the library, a new insight into standard format must be made first, which obviously slows the flow of processing work. You could fix pretty easily with Lightroom to build new standard insights for the entire library or a selected group of images (using the library > Previews > build...) option. It will take some time if you have a large library, so you could set it goes when you're not using Lightroom for some time, for example during the night. If it is still in progress when you want to use Lightroom again, you can cancel it and start it again later.

Regarding the name of the catalog, I don't have an explanation for the strange name, but if it bothers you, why not rename it? The two files ending with ".journal" and ".lock" are temporary files that Lightroom creates a session and removes them again when you close Lightroom... so no action required for those. With Lightroom closed, rename the ".lrcat" to what you want, providing, of course, that you keep the extension ".lrcat". Then rename the file preview to have the same name in the catalogue, while retaining the endpoint "Previews.lrdata".

Because you already have a "Previews.lrdata Vanarts 1' of the file in the folder Lightroom, suggest you remove first before making name changes if you want to return to"Vanarts 1.lrcat"as the name of the catalog."

Regarding watermarks, can you tell me if the option to "Store Presets with this catalogue" (preferences > Presets tab) is checked or unchecked?

  • Missing photos after the operating system upgrade

If iCloud backup has not been activated at the time of the upgrade of the OS, are still recoverable photos from iPhoto, or they are gone forever?  My Mac is 2 years old, and I installed the OS to El Capitan.  Time Machine can be used to retrieve these photos?  I looked in the trash, but it's only the deleted photos.

Your photos have not been removed.

If you previously used iPhoto, upgrade to El Capitan installed a new app called Photos. When you first launch Photos, it asks if you want to migrate your iPhoto photo library. If you keep your library in the default location (users > username > pictures), pictures will be automatically finds the old iPhoto library. If you have moved t elsewhere, launch Photos while pressing the Option key, and then select the main iPhotos library file to migrate.

Migration is a slow process, so give it some time.

I want to copy my lightroom catalog and photos of the hard disk to another. I tried to use the copy and paste, but when I try to open the catalog on my laptop lightrooom cannot find the photos because he is always looking for them on the old hard drive. How can I get lightroom to get on the new drive? When I try to manually connect the photos they disappear just from any folder, they are in Lightroom.

    Hi Mike Nature.

    Greetings.

As you have already moved the catalog and the files on the hard disk up, visit this link on how to find missing images/files

I suggest you look for missing files.

The images do not disappear, but after the relining, they should be available under the new hard drive.

  • Missing photos since the update

I've updated to Sierra yesterday. After which, I went back to edit the new pics I just took, who had already been downloaded before update. When I opened the Photos to do it, I noticed that at least 80% of my photos was vignettes with a gray triangle and an exclamation point. Once clicked on, some of these pictures would be present. However, the sticker remained as this triangle when I'm back in the folder. I tried to repair library (opening ⌘⌥) but that didn't work. I will add that I have not used iPhoto since the last update, so I don't think that this has nothing to do with this, as several of these photos have been imported directly from the picture source.

Can anyone help? I make sure I have access to these photos.

what you put in? Did you recently do any cleaning disc or run any cleanup as CleanMyMac software?

If you rotatate one and then turn it back - what is fix? You can export to one of these pictures (menu, file == > export)?

  • Missing Photos after importation of Aperture

    Hello!

I did just the opening switch to Lightroom and I use version 1.1 of the plugin import Aperture.

I have in my Aperture library, according to library-> Photos: Photos of 11105, however after import in Lightroom, I only 10967 photos. I checked the import log and there are 4 items that could import - 3 were files .mpo (panoramas of a xPeria) and 1 was a .gif file. That leaves a deficit of 133 photos that I can't explain.

Is it possible to compare the aperture library to the lightroom library to see what is missing?

Hope you find your system developed problems.

I ended up exporting from successful to referenced.  First of all, I collapsed all of my folders nested in a single folder in Aperture, and then exported using a personal file FOLDER/PROJECT format, where the record was of the year, or the YEAR in JAPAN, where I had several nested projects.  Fast forward after the conversion, I then re-nested folder structure.

After you export all the photos of successful to referenced, I then used all the normal gymnastics in the opening to make sure that all images have been exported and 'online '.  About 15 were not, then I need to resolve these differences, which included duplicate references, mainly.  Once exported, I generated previews.  You're not dealing with previews, so I'll spare you the even longer discussion about how I needed to account for them.  In light of all of the files are external, it is easier to determine which files have not been imported into Lightroom.  I didn't have an anomaly.

Make sure you don't have duplicate keywords!  I thought I had, but due to the nature of nested keywords, I had a few references duplicated as 'portrait', I had used to mark the initial orientation of the photo, as well as the keyword Aperture stock.  Made a mess of things later.

Despite the hardships, even in running through the entire library before, I found myself running out of memory AND problems with the GPS.  I ended up using HoudahGeo to create files sidecar with GPS of opening data prior to importation.  After trying everything, I used a dark suggestion to run import on a build of Mac OS X instead of 10.10.3 10.9.4.  That seemed to do the trick.

A lot of things to clean up afterwards, but I can just leave it as what.  Wish that the faces are exportable now that Lightroom supports the faces, but I won't hold my breath.  Appears opening Adobe plug-in development is concluded.  Tens of thousands of assignments in Aperture.

Also sad to lose settings, but at least I have the keyword each parameter before exporting.

Almost all of the work must be done in the opening before the transition.  You watch just how flexible and versatile opening is still today.

Always curious to know how you will manage your conversion, so please keep posting!

  • Always the color in the photos after the black and white conversion

    Hello

I have a very strange problem. After the conversion to black and white photos in Lightroom (no matter if I chose B & W in the basic menu, set the saturation to 0, the HSL value 0 saturation sliders or choose a B & W preset) my photos have still a few colors in them. Before and after have exported them.

The pictures are taken in RAW with a 550 d or a RX100. Same results for all. I use Lightroom 4.3.

I searched a lot on google and also here in the forum and have not found anything.

    Any ideas?

    Kind regards

If you have Lr and PS side by side they appear identical. If they are not something certainly will not, and I agree with ssprengel that it's most likely a monitor profile bad that one of them is choking on.

If you don't calibrate and profile the monitor yourself (what is the right way to do it), the safest bet is always to use sRGB (or if you have a wide range of monitor the Adobe RGB, but you do not have). > This thread contains a description of how you do it.

    ---

    Some information:

Monitor profiles contain two parts. One, quite simply, white fixed point, correct the response curve and remove color casts. It is loaded into the video card (or the screen itself) and affects all across the system. This is the part of the calibration.

The second part is the profile itself, which is more complex. It is, in short, a complete description of the features of monitor in three-dimensional space color. Among other things, it defines exactly the position of the three primaries. It takes the calibration in the image, so in other words it is a description of the screen in its calibrated State. But only color management applications to read the monitor profile and debug to display accordingly. Other applications just ignore it and send the numbers directly through.

This second part, the profile itself, is what often causes problems because many profiles are not properly written. Manufacturers of monitor (and portable) are known for this. You would think if he succeeds, but it's not fair.

To compound things, these bad profiles are often pushed through Windows Update, so that people don't even know they are being installed.

  • Could not find photos after the upgrade to Windows 7

Bridge worked very well under Vista, but after the upgrade to Windows 7, I can't find one of my photos with bridge files.  Photoshop CS4 find them OK and made Lightroom, but for some reason Bridge does not list the sub folders.  If I click on libraries, he says "no file".  It does not list the pictures or my pictures.  I'm totally stumped.

    AlAugustine wrote:

I tried all combinations of ctrl-click, click and ctrl, etc, I can think of but nothing reveals the reset box.  When I double click on the desktop icon, it loads almost instantly leaving no time to press ctrl before loading.

One thing I did not mention, is that you must check that the bridge is already done in the background.  Open the Task Manager and click the processes tab and see if bridge.exe is listed.  If program so quit smoking.

If you have the possibility of automatically loading at startup deck, I recommend that deactivate you in the Advanced preferences file.  It causes more problems than it solves.

  • How to regenerate the thumbnails of the Photos after the restoration of hard drive?

    Hello!

A few weeks ago, our drive hard iMac failed and was repaired under the hard drive replacement program. I have restored our our last backup system, but all of our photo in photo thumbnails are black or white with no details. When we open a photo, that is, but the thumbnails are not visible, making navigation impossible.

I tried to repair the library. Who did nothing.

I tried to turn the photos. Turning the last import (300 photos) two-way regenerated the thumbnails OK, but it took 6.5 minutes. I 80 000 pictures. According to my estimate, that makes a little more than 12 days (assuming a linear extrapolation, in any case), during which my CPU will be under a lot of stress.

I also noticed that the rotation thing has no effect for videos.

So I thought, as a last resort before putting my Mac in two weeks of enforced non-toucher, I would like to ask if anyone had other ideas.

Also, does anyone know how to regenerate the photos to the videos?

    Thanks in advance!

    -Mike

Try first to turn a lot of direction tiles 90 ° and 90 ° backward.  See if that will restore them.  If it works then make lots at once, not the entire library.

If it does not try to repair the library according to the instructions in this document to Apple: Repair Your Library.

Warning: If you use iCloud photo library with Photos, this operation will lead to Photos to upload all your pictures again (of difficulty missing or incorrect thumbnails in photo - Apple Support).
