  1. On the old computer, open any application CS6 (. e.g. Photoshop CS6) and click Help > deactivate. That will disable the entire suite on this computer. Freeing an activation that you can use on another computer.
  2. On the new computer, install the CS6 software and it will automatically activate during installation.

  Note: your license allows you to activate the software to be used on up to two computers at the same time (this should be two Macs, or two PCs). So, you do not disable CS6 on the old computer, if you do not want.

  My old mac was a G5 so I finally joined the modern world with a new iMac. On the new machine, I installed LR3, but I'm still running LR2 on the old machine. I want to come all my photos/catalogs/dbs (probably by getting an external HD enclosure to the current unit of the old machine) to the new machine and LR2. A few tips on how to import everything? Nothing to watch? I have thousands of images, some of them paid employment, and I don't want to lose anything. Thank you.

  Rule # 1: IMPORTEZ not!

  That's what I'd do:

  • On the old machine and LR2, make sure that you have one (or a few) top level for all your images folders, and that they show in a hierarchical way in your folder Panel. You may need to use "Add a folder" several times to achieve.
  • With the old disk mounted on the new machine, double-click the LR2 catalog to start LR3
  • You will be asked if you want to convert your LR2 catalog in a catalog in LR3
  • Confirm this action, which will build a new catalog of your catalog of LR2 LR3, leaving the LR2 catalog because it is
  • If your missing files/images (that I'm not sure on a Mac when the same volume is mounted as an external drive), perform a 'find the missing folder' on all the top-level folders in your catalog, pointing to the files on the mounted volume
  • If needed/wanted, you can then move the folders from top level of image of in LR to another volume
  • If you need/want to move the catalog as well, copy the file ".lrcat [nomcatalogue]" and "[nomcatalogue] Previews.lrdata" folder to another drive when LR is closed and restart LR by double-clicking the copied .lrcat file
  • Delete the old catalog, once that you do not know the new works to your satisfaction

  You can also consider to copy your presets, plugins and the failings of the cab from the old machine to the new one.

  I did all the transfers of my playlist on my e260 on an old computer with Windows XP and an earlier version of Windows Media Player.

  I recently bought a new computer which has Windows 7. I did not transfer my music here, but he's sitting on a separate, portable drive.
