CD/DVD-drive missing when Windows 7 is installed.

I installed Win 7 32 bits, with a cd - everything works fine.
But the CD/DVD drive is missing from Device Manager.

I did a Win 7 clean install and have installed all the drivers for the hardware (all from the manufacturer). I tried some things I mentioned forums, like the one to delete data in the registry. This didn t solve the problem. I even tried to install win 7 again (tried 64 bit as well).

Can anyone help?

Solved!  I think so.  I had the same problem - installed Windows 7 on my Zepto 6625WD and Windows 7 could not recognize my TSST SN-S082H DVD player, although everything worked again well under ubuntu.  After several days of intermittent Googling, I came across this fix , which (even if it's for Vista) resolved my problems in Windows 7 - the DVD player is now detected and works perfectly.

Hope that helps...

  • NTLDR is missing - when you try to install Windows 7 on another hard drive

I have a PC Compaq Presario SR2027X a/w Win XP Media Center Edition SP3 installed.  I downloaded and installed the Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to determine if WIN 7 would go on my system.  The airport of Win 7 Upgrade Advisor said that I could install Win 7.  I bought Win 7 32 bit and 2-1 GB PC5300 memory sticks.  I first installed the memory and booted up the system.  Everything worked well.  BIOS has seen the new memory and I have not encountered any error.

I then turning the system off and removed the HDD (120 GB Sata).  I installed another hard drive (160 GB Sata) which had been restructured and ready to use.  The BIOS detects the hard drive and the BIOS has been changed for a start of the OPTICAL drive.  I then placed the WIN 7 32-bit software disk in the OPTICAL drive and saved the changes in BIOS and rebooted the system.  I was expecting to see the normal WIN 7 screens during the installation.  Instead, I got "NTLDR is missing, press CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart".

Then I tried pressing ESC during boot to enter the boot menu.  Once in the boot menu, I select the optical drive and now I get the message "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND press ENTER".  I opened and close the optical drive optical drive light lights up, and I then press on enter.  I get the same message on "DISK BOOT FAILURE,...» ».

I built more than 40 PC and have never had this problem.  Is there something unique about Compaq/HP PC's that prevents me to install WIN 7 on another hard drive that is not the original hard drive came with this pc?

HP / Compaq computers are no different from any other computer on the market. You can install Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8 on almost all made within the last 7 years.

I think that your problem is due to a failure of CD/DVD drive or disk installation of Windows 7 corrupt or unbootable. Please check that the CD/DVD drive is fully functional and functional as should be. Also, check that your Windows 7 disc is free of errors and that it is bootable. If necessary, you can download a Windows 7 SP1 ISO from HERE and HERE and also download Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool.

  • CD/DVD drive missing (vista)

This problem is getting ridiculous.  My CD/DVD drive has been appearing and disappearing in recent weeks power on and off.  I tried the deleting the upper and lower limits registry hack and it seemed to work once, but after a while the disc disappears again, sometimes after the mode 'sleep' and sometimes spontaneously.  Reset used to clear up the problem for a while, but now the drive seems definitely over.  I uninstalled iTunes and Nero, I have because they may have caused problems.  I can't use Device Manager, because the device is not listed, so no way to update the drivers.  I am now at the point where there is much more information that I found Microsoft or from other sources, if anyone has had this problem or knows something, I can try to get Vista to recognize the drive that I would be really grateful.  Thank you!

  • Equium A200 - DVD drive missing

    Hello

My Equium A200 is only 3 months old and the dvd player has "disappeared."
It does not appear in my computer or Device Manager.

The tray will also not stay closed... any ideas anyone?

    Hello

The fact is that the CD/DVD drive doesn t need a special driver because the STRANGE simply uses them pilot which belongs to the Windows operating system.

I think you should check if the CD/DVD drive functions. So how can I test?
Well, you can try to boot from the Toshiba restore CD to check if the ODD is able to manage the CD.

I think that whole OS installation is a drastic procedure, but I think he might back allows for the STRANGE.

    Good luck

  • Satellite P305 - DVD drive missing registry method attempted

My satellite P305 lost the DVD icon in my computer.

So I tried to fix it by using the 'Register' method I have seen anywhere in the forums, but it didn't work as I have found a 'low' I don't think that the name but not the second registry value 'superior '. So now I can't use my PC DVD and I hope that I can reinstall the driver, although I doubt it.

The computer Troubleshooter said the problem is that the registry file is damaged or missing (before I tried to fix it). I had been using a burner and burn a DVD that took a lot of time to complete the level of 99%, so I clicked to close the program thinking that the information was already coded on the DVD and there is nothing for the program to do but stop, but it did not work and the program have remained frozen. The program I used was called Cheetah Burner, in case you are interested in knowing. So I ejected the disk (perhaps after control-alt-delete, not sure) and probably restart the computer again, to see that the program had taken place.

So please tell me how to deal with this, soon. I need to solve this young to continue working!

    Thank you

    Ash.

    Hey Ash,

I think you mean the upper and lower filters in the registry. Is this fair?
Normally, this should help about problems with the CD/DVD drive but you've already tried this?

In your case, I would try to remove the drive to CD/DVD in Device Manager (right click > uninstall). After the reboot the drive will be recognized again and maybe it works.
In addition, you n t need another driver because it s a part of the operating system. Updated this driver peut t.

Another interesting thin: you can boot from a disc?

  • Driver missing in Windows 10

I have improved my moms to 10 Windows pc. The model is ATC-605-EB1C (Aspire) which I believe is sucks TC-605 on the Acer web site.

Series No.: [redacted to comply with guidelines]

Now, once Windows 10 is installed, there is only 1 device which is exclamated outside. PCI Simple Communications controller

I went in the section of the driver and I installed buth LAN as well as the wireless and it still has an exclamation point.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    joerobertson,

I'm prety sure it's related to the intel AMT or engine of intel or BIOS or a combination of all three.

I have two computers of TC - 605 and don't get this exclamation with Windows 10 although I noticed it after a clean installed Windows 8.1.  After a clean install of Windows 8.1, going to downloads Acer and install the iAMT driver solves this problem.

I was curious, after installed Windows 10 cleaning or not this exclamation of controller PCI simple communications would appear, but to my surprise, it didn't.

So, based on what you say, I wonder if your computer comes with Windows 7 pre-installed or you are using an older version of BIOS?  Two of my computers are preinstalled with Windows 8.1 and both have been updated to the latest BIOS for Windows computers of TC-605 8.1 which is P11. B3.

Edit: What BIOS version came pre-installed on your computer?  To check the BIOS version on your computer, you right-click on the Start button, select run Windows and type "msinfo32" without the quotes.

Edit2: Two of my computers also have the chipset driver intel 10 Windows and Windows 10 intel management engine driver installed that I downloaded from the Acer site (but still once, I don't have the exclamation even when I have not... makes me think it might be related too BIOS).
