• Captivate 8 widget printing does not print in landscape. impressions full resolution of the project and not only the certificate?

  I'm new to Captivate and am responsible to learn how to use Captivate 8.  I must add a certificate of completion at the end of my project and have a lot of questions for which I can't find answers! Please, if anyone can answer these:

  (1) I don't want the certificate to print up to that score the quiz reaches a specific minimum - for example, you need a score of 80% or more to print a certificate.  How do I do this with the print widget?

  (2) the certificate to print without the slide background and resolution of the project - in other words, I want only the image of certificate (with text added for name box) to print in LANDSCAPE, without the user having to do all the settings on their end (choose the landscape to portrait with their printer).  How is this accomplised?

  (3) I want a date on the certificate - how can I add this specific item?

  Without a widget of certificate and the use of Flash with this version, I'm confused as to how exactly Captivate offers the ability to print certificates?  I don't know of HTML5 and am uneven with Javascript.  Why a feature such as certificates and the ability to print them would be something illegal?  No tutorials, no clear advice exactly get this popular feature of development of training material.  Me think there should be MUCH easier to achieve, but I am confused at this point.

  The solution I found is this:

  Do not use the printing of 8 Captivate widget. It simply does not work the way it should be able to work.  Unless you are able to scripts in Actionscript 2.0 and have access to an old version of Captivate, there is no way to work around this bug.

  The problem I found is 8 Captivate will allow you only to use Actionscript 3.0 in Flash; You can open the widget in Flash, but you MUST open through Captivate first if you intend to use in Captivate.  So, once you open the widget for adjustments through Captivate, it automatically selects AS 3.0 as scripting language to use, no choice is available.  IF you have Captivate 7 or less, however, it allows you to script in AS 2.0.  I didn't, so I can't help you in the widget script.

  What I ended up doing was, I made my own certifcate in Photoshop, saved as a. PNG and added to the last page. Using the internal encoding of Captivate I said the program just go to slide if the quiz was successful.

  Print: Go to the fenΩtre > Skin Editor.  On the left are boxes to check the playback bar options - check out 'Show the Playback Control' and then choose your theme. In the drop-down list, choose 'print '.  If you don't want to do anything else on the playback bar, then select the items; Choose where you want the PlayBar to show (I chose the bottom and down to the Center). See below:

  

  You can see the icons on the bottom, in the Center.  The icon on the left is the button print.  It works well, it can be to make choices print in your local print dialog box.  I have to tell him of the landscape print, for example, otherwise, it prints portrait and too small.  But this does not work, and it solves the problem of non-working widgets impression.

• Certificate and SCORM reporting in Captivate 5 Widget

  I tried to make the notebook of Moodle (1.9) report correctly SCORM 1.2 results without success. In desperation I realized the project using a certificate widget, but I can't get that to work either! Please can someone direct me to a working solution? I tried the fix mentioned by Xeon64 here http://forums.adobe.com/message/3867196#3867196 but when I try to use the widget I get an error message «invalid widget» I would prefer not to have to rebuild the entire project a third time in Captivate 4, which seemed to work ok for me.

  Most of the settings look good.  But I would suggest using Pass/Fail instead of complete/incomplete.

  I'm assuming you are using SCORM 1.2 not 2004.  Support for SCORM 2004 in Moodle was frowned upon, I used Captivate SCORM 1.2 modules in Moodle 1.9 x before with good results.

  If you have dozens of students to access course content at the same time, you would be well advised to try the HTM model which only send the scores to the endd.  This will significantly reduce the load on the Moodle server.

• Adobe Captivate learning widget interactions plays not published not in MP4

  I'm new to Captivate (this is only my third Captivate project) and have created a 9 Captivate presentation which was originally intended to be navigated manually during a discussion.  They loved the presentation so they want to make a video that will automatically play.  The problem that I am running is that the interaction of training widgets I've included work wonderfully in .exe (where they are manually sailed) but does not display the ancillary content when I publish the project in mp4 format.  (the final product must be in mp4 format)

  I don't know miss me some simple editing or sync settings.

  (Please don't tell me that it is impossible that I need to )

  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  You don't always tell on what "interactions of training" you're talking about? If these are interactions like accordion, tabs, pyramid... you might consider these slides to record while you interact with them, using the video feature of Captivate demo. Such a cpvc-slide can be inserted into a cptx project.

  I have 9 Captivate and I use embedded Captivate widgets (not those using assets). I created my project as a project that is sensitive to be able to display in the form of tablets. Captivate told me the widgets are not compatible HTML5. When I publish on my LMS, I can see the widgets and to interact with the course on my laptop via Firefox, but I do not see the widgets in IE 11. Is there a way to get around this, or I must say to my people to download another browser to use my course?

  You need not create a project as a receptive simply to play on tablets or mobile devices.

  If widgets are known to be NOT HTML5 compatible, it is better to not use them at all.  IE11 usually works with the release of HTML5 in Captivate, but your widgets are probably not going to work in this case.

• Captivate 4 Widgets Tutorial - How to use check boxes?

  I'm looking for basic tutorials on how to use some of the widgets such as checkboxes. For example, if the user makes a choice with box how can you get to go to the particular slide.

  I don't see anything of the checkbox in the advanced interactions. How exactly would they work? I'd like a few examples in a captivate project.

  This box widget is a static widget. If you can't, click actions for her.

  It works like this.

  1. create as many user variables such as the number of boxes you want.

  2. Insert the checkbox widget.

  3. go to the tab settings of the widget and get the number of checkboxes and enter the names of the variables created by separated by commas.

  4 give the labels you want for the various boxes separated by commas.

  5 Insereted the varibles associated in a text caption.

  6. now run the project audit the status of the variables which you have associated the boxes once you click on the check boxes.

  7. now you can use the State of these variables to check which box was clicked.

• Script for garbage collection in Captivate 4 Widgets?

  Hi guys and girls

  I'm having a problem with some custom widgets that I made. I have a number of widgets on every slide in my project (which are reused on each slide) and they work fine... BUT I noticed that when the project is published and played the executable starts eats more RAM. I noticed that the EXE eats more RAM at the beginning of each slide and never decreases.

  I think what is happening is that even though im using the same widget on each slide, Captivate load a new instance of the widget to each new slide and no garbage collection on the previous slide widgets. Does anyone know of an ActionScript command in order to solve this problem? Or a work around?

  A question for adobe... Do you know the guys on this problem? and if yes, do you intend to fix in an update?

  Hi Aquilo,

  The reason for the consumption of RAM is usually because something in your code has not been unloaded, always raises an event or a timer still work and Captivate continues to run and store it in memory, despite a change of the slide or the off-screen image disappear.

  Best option is to add a feature to "unload" to your flash widget that will destroy everything.

  Here is an example applied to a loader (Actionscript 3) object

  loader.addEventListener (Event.UNLOAD, unLoadHandler);

  function unLoadHandler(event:Event):void {}

  Kill the charger

  var loader: Loader = Loader (event.target);
  Loader.Unload ();
  Charger = null;

  Remove event listeners

  this.removeEventListener ("onEnterFrame", onEnterFrame);
  this.loader.removeEventListener (Event.UNLOAD, unLoadHandler);

  Stop all timers

  Timer.Stop ();
  }

  Note how I put the "loader", NULL, after unloading it - this will ensure it comes out of the memory, as Flash Player 9 has an error where it won't completely remove something of memory, although it is being unloaded.

  I still cannot print a single slide in Captivate 4 I loaded the widget to printer slides as cams with 4 Captivate to Flash 8 in the hope that I can change it and just have the print option, without all the extras but don't know not enough to make it work.  Someone out there is able to create a widget of the printer for A4.

  I'm dunfounded that there is no option to print a slide.  I have now started to create e-learning using courselab, because it's so easy to print a slide in.

• Captivate 9 widget sensitive project Email?

  I am creates a lot of projects that give of the learner, the option to send an email with comments about the session to the expert in the field. So far, I used the option insert a hyperlink on a smart form, then e-mail. In the address box, I format the similar subject line to:

  [email protected]? subject = BPP % 20Comments % 20 & body = I % 20have % 20The % 20following % % 20% 20suggestions 2% 0about % 20The % 20course 20comments

  Once sent, the SMEs will contact the sender of the e-mail. Is there a way I can create a widget (or other) that will allow me to format the subject and allow the user to enter their question?

  If you can create a widget or not will depend on whether you have programming skills.

  To my knowledge there is no widget is provided by Adobe or third-party vendors that does what you want.

• Assembly of widgets in Flash

  Hello. I'm trying to use the certificate supplied with Captivate 4 widget. It works fine, but the title of my journey is long and gets cut when it appears on the certificate. I see the characters first of all 20 or more. I understand that the widgets can be edited in Flash. I don't have a Flash and I was wondering if there is someone who would be willing to change the certificate for me file make this area of a shape more? I don't think it would take very long at all for someone who knew what they were doing, and you have my eternal gratitude. :-)

  I increased the size of the text box containing the name of the course and also changed the font size of the-1. I hope that should give you enough room for your course title.

  A problem however - Adobe used a special font (CloisterBlack BT) for the title of the certificate of completion of course. This policy is not something that I installed on my PC, so it is re-located to a default font (I used instead the Verdana).

• You can embed HTML code in a Captivate project?

  Is it possible to include HTML code in a project? I can't find any option to do. I use 7 Captivate.

  I don't think that it would be possible to put the html code for this kind of function to call a css page and other things to get in shape.  Basically what I can pull the HTML that Captivate kicks just outside allows to establish the size of the viewport, resolution and basic information.  As I manipulate it so that I don't get a button "play" when I publish html5 on an I device and to make the address bar disappear a I device.

  I have a suggestion though.  If you could publish the timeline to an independent web address from captivate, you can call it as a web object from the captivate (another widget).  It opens just a Web page in captivate, or another possibility would be to have a call from both key page you have opened a new window of the browser of captivate.  Once the user has seen the chronology and closes the browser, they are immediately in the captivate project where they had left him.

• ListBox Widget

  In the Listbox in Captivate 6 widget, how do you change the font size, as well as the corresponding box for the text that is displayed. I was able to load the widget and change the number of lines that appear and remove scroll bars, but can not quite understand how to change the size of the text. I would like to change the size of the police at about 25 or 30.

• "Print" for Captivate 5.5 key

  Hi guys,.

  Very new to Captivate 5.5 and tried to find a "print" button, but I'm really bad.

  I need to print a single slide of the presentation that involves the user entering some numbers on a table. Once this is done, we want them to be able to print the page.

  Someone at - it a code or a package I can download and import. I found a few on the web, but they do not seem to work with 5.5 only 4.

  Any help would be amazing.

  I don't know why, but you need to reset the location where Widgets often looks like.

  Click the lane change.

  

  Navigate to the Program files > Adobe > Adobe Captivate > Gallery > Widgets folder and click OK. All the widgets would become available.

• Captivate 4 - linking to Quiz review slides

  Thank you all for your expertise and time that you take to share.

  I have two issues with the quiz of reviews on some of my module.  I, literally, spent around 5 hours looking for answers.  My boss will be Livid if I have nothing to show for it.

  Question #1

  (1) after my user passes the test, we want to examine their responses.

  (2) * to review *, if they got a wrong answer we want that they click on a link between the blade and the part of the slide deck that has talked about this.

  Everything I have read/tried - I don't see a way to put such information on the slide without showing to/on the original quiz.

  What I want to do?

  During the revisions quiz part-there is no browse button.  I read in another post that this is due to not having the buttons 'next' or 'Skip' but my Client does not want one of those on the slide.  We had to push back just to keep the back on the movie skin button.

  During the revision Quiz part, how can we sail (before, at least)?

  Question # 1: You can get around this via advanced Actions and using the static button widget that comes with Captivate 5.  But it will greatly increase the complexity of your project.  If you want to go this route, here's how it's done:

  • You must create a user Variable to track the Correct/Incorrect State of each question on the questionnaire.  Call them Question1Status, Question2Status, etc. these variables must be paid by actions on the success and failure of each Quiz Question slide.  Each will have at least three possible values: NotAnswered, Correct, Incorrect
  • You cannot add a normal Captivate to a slide of questionnaire button because the interactive objects are not allowed.  But you can add the static button of the Captivate Gallery widget and that widget can be defined to point to any slide.  Add one of these widgets to each quiz question slide and set it to go to the relevant slide in the main content that provides the information tested by the quiz question.  Set this button widget to be hidden by unchecking the box Visible.  It will be shown by the tip then described Action.
  • You will also need to have a conditional Action advanced for each question that is used on slide enter to check the value of the first variable mentioned above.  The fast Action will do something like this: If Question1Status is Incorrect, show widget button X.  (Each widget button will have a name of the element.)  This will allow your users to click on the button widget and directly access relevant content if they don't have this issue.  The widget button does not appear if they went from the question.

  Question #2: If your customer does not want back or buttons depending on the main slide area during the review, the only way your user will be able to navigate is via the buttons back and forward of the PlayBar.  If your customer wants to remove those as well, the learner have no means to navigate other than TOC buttons.  The PlayBar buttons would be my vote.

  I actually use a couple of widgets to help navigation in view of quiz.  I have a widget which hides the next (Skip) button during the test and another that hides the buttons Clear and submit during a Quiz.  These widgets have been created by Vikram, one of the Adobe Captivate development team.
