CF9.0.1 - updating JRE 32-bit on Windows 64-bit

Hi all

Based on this security alert (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/894/cpsid_89440.html), I'm looking to upgrade my CF 9.0.1 install default JRE 1.6_17 to 1.6_24.

On my Windows 7 64 / 64 CF9.0.1 development system I simply downloaded 64-bit JRE installed and pointed at CF the JRE newly installed (via the CF admin). Everything worked flawlessly.

My test server (Windows Server 2008 Standard 64-bit SP1) is running CF 9.0.1 32 bits. I downloaded the JRE 32 bit (jre-6u24-windows-i586) and moved to C:\Java\jre6. In addition, based on the note found here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/install-windows-64-142952.html

  • The public JRE installed with the 32-bit JRE is not registered. You must set the PATH environment variable for pointing to JAVA_HOME \bin to register the JRE.
  • I added a C:\Java\jre6\bin\ on my WAY through the control panel.

Go to the command line (to c:\ >) and type "java-version" provides:

    Java version "1.6.0_24".

Java (TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_24 - b07)

The Client Java VM (build 19.1 - b02, mixed mode, sharing)

So now, I'm going to the CF Admin-> Java and JVM and reset the Machine path

The server stops and then fails to restart. The Windows Application log indicates: "the ColdFusion 9 application server service could not be started.  Check the log files from the server 'coldfusion' for more information. »

If I go back to the JVM in C:\Coldfusion9\runtime\jre the server restarts normally.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Billy,

Download the SDK Java from Oracle (not the runtime):

    http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/Java/javase/downloads/index.html

Install via run the EXE download - default installation will be fine.

Stop the CF - stop SERVICES.msc "ColdFusion 9 application server.

Take a copy of CF\runtime\bin\jvm.config - so you have a backup.

Change the line CF\runtime\bin\jvm.config find "java.home =" and comment it for example:

    #java.home=C:/ColdFusion9/runtime/jre

Add the new line like and save next:

    Java.Home = C: / Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_24/jre

Note he slashes and the location of the JRE (runtime): you must point to that of JDK, because the other JRE in C:\Program Files\Java\jre6 will be missing a DLL.

    Start CF via SERVICES.msc.

    HTH, Carl.

    • Windows 7 64 bit receives updates for 32 bit

My new laptop runs Windows 7 64 bit and I check the available updates automatically downloaded before I install them.  I noticed that some updates specify 32-bit... and when I read more about the Microsoft Windows 7 update, it shows the same update also for 64 bit and the file is a slightly different name.

Example today: KB982726 update has been downloaded and has written for 32-bit and the name of the file is "office2010-kb982726-fulfile-x 86-glb.exe" but the KB982726 that says for 64 bit has a file name of "office2010-kb982726-fulfile-x 64-glb.exe.

Most of the updates, I've been automatically downloaded do specify 64-bit, but I wonder if I need to start checking all the 32-bit downloads sent to me for a version 64 bit and install instead, manually.

When there is a "64-bit version" of an update... and... since I get other updates to 64 bit, why do I automatically would receive the "32-bit version" of these updates?

If Office 2010 32-bit (x 86) is installed, and 64-bit Office 2010 is NOT installed, updates are appropriate. ~ Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (that is to say, mail, security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ WARNING: MS MVPs represent or work for Microsoft

      Hi trojan.

      1. This only happens with the Office updates?

      2. you receive all of the error codes or error messages?

3 have you tried to install the stand-alone packages updates?

      Step 1:

You try to run the troubleshooter Windows 7 update and check.

Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool

      http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Update-Troubleshooter

      Step 2:

Also try to install the updates and check manually.

To download updates, follow these steps:

      a. download updates from the Microsoft download Center:

      d. you can either click Run to start the installation or you can click on save and save it on the desktop and run the installation once the update is completely downloaded.

    • Satellite A200-1DN - the update of the BIOS for Windows 7

I am running 32-bit Windows 7 on a Satellite A200 1DN. I had battery problems (plugged in, does not support) and I understand that I have to update my BIOS. However I can't find an update of the BIOS for Windows 7, only Vista and XP.

Can anyone help? I should update with the BIOS in Vista? Are there other options to fix this battery? I already tried an ATX reset and uninstall method battery Microsoft ACPI compatible controls.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

      Thank you
      Ian

Theoretically, you can install Windows Vista to update Bios and return Win 7, then. Before you do, try this:

Unplug the computer from the power adapter and turn it on. Let the computer battery power until the computer turns off
Remove the battery. Using a soft cloth, wipe the battery packs connectors and AC adapters.
Reinsert the battery and plug it into the power adapter

      > I tried an ATX reset and uninstall method battery Microsoft ACPI compatible controls.

also, have you had the same problem before installing Win 7?

I did so many times in this way without any problems.

Reinstall Vista > install SP1, SP2, then > and then get the rest updates.

If you encounter problems with SP records, use it to download again.

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

It will also tell you which SP you have installed.

Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, installation of SP1 first if it is not already installed.

    • Error code Windows Update 80070490 and the message "Windows cannot check the updates.

Windows Update 80070490 error code appeared yesterday (21 September 2013) and the message "Windows cannot check for updates. I'm using Windows Vista 32-bit, Service Pack 2. I tried almost all the suggestions on the Internet (including on Microsoft Web page) on this way to solve this problem, including Microsoft fixed it, the update of the system, file Windows Update DIAGCAB Diagnostics tool and etc, but still getting the message. The last successful update was on 13.09.2013.  All updates done before and September 13 are written as a 'success' in the folder "Update history", but when I open the folder "Installed updates", I don't see anything and it says "no update are installed on this computer", which is strange, because at the moment, Windows Update was made automatically without any problem.   Please help me to solve the problem with this error code.

Thank you, you shared your experience with me, but I already solved the problem. Niemiro of Sysnative.com forum helped me for this
