Change the Format of a paragraph Style Figure

I work in Adobe InDesign 6.0 (PC) on a Dell laptop.

I copied the text from a file and placed it in another file. Unfortunately, the figure numbers all State the former chapter number (in this instance, "6-#" as 6-1, 6-2, etc.). What I want to do is for the numbers to tell 8-1, 8-2, etc., because they are now in Chapter 8.

I found this much: according to the style of paragraph to these figures, I right-click and select 'change {paragraph Style name} '. Ok. Then in the window that opens, 'Paragraph Style Options', select "Bullets and numbers" in the left menu. Ok.

Now, here's my problem. I believe that the key to the entire mystery to be included in the section entitled "Style numbering." Yet, I can not Flip off the fields presented here. They include:

Format: I guess that's the numbering style I want. Currently it says «1, 2, 3, 4...» I left that alone.

Number: This field contains "Figure ^.» ^ H ^ = ^ # ». What is with the 'H' and all the symbols of hat and all that? What do I need to let him say so that my numbers read "Figure 8-1", "Figure 8-2" and so on? . "

    A change is not always a "fix."  Sometimes, it's just a change.
     
    Pick one that allows you to boot to the desktop with a Start Menu/button as you're used to.

    You will need to enter manually. Styles cannot add text, only format.

    Automated bullets are only accessible to the general public for the start of a paragraph and cannot apply to the middle. You can use find/replace to add, possibly, but it doesn't look like me you have a model that is sufficiently well defined to do any sort of work of automation.

    On the start menu, open the Printers folder and open the Toolbox of the HP device.

    In the 'System' tab select copy settings and change the format of A4 paper, then click on apply and confirm the changes.
