Change the root password

Hello!

I would like to change the password to root for our ESX 4.0 servers. Problems or advice?

Unless you actually use the root connection in some application or script, and the saved password here - no problems.

    Hello

I was encouraged to see VoP Server Explorer, but my network does not have any system to have a default root password. Can I change the root user password?

    Thank you!

Altogether.  Just connect to the console as root and type 'passwd' to change the root password.  Be sure to keep track of what you set, because there is little recourse except in single-user mode if it goes astray.

  • Change the root password interactively

    Hello
I want to change the password of root interactively using a configuration script, where I change many more parameters, without specifying the new root password in the configuration script.
I would like the script to give me a chance to type the password to myself.
Something like when you started a new cmd session in a .bat script using the cmd /c
    Thank you

Take a look at this script and see if the way they work for you: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/412623

  • Cisco VCS: You can change the root within the TSH Admin password?

I know you can reset password "admin" to root, by running the tsh, but you can change the 'root' password in the 'admin' tsh?

    Hi David,

No you can not change it until and unless you follow the documented procedure to reset the password using console.

However, you can go to t-root shell using the command 'tsh' and set up a new admin account, then log into the VCS GUI admin with new administrator and reset the password for the default Administrator account.

  • Impossible to change the root / calvin credientials

    Hello

I recently brought a new chassis m1000e with two cmc firmware 4.5 running online.  When I am connected to the CMC initially he prompted me to change the default password, I did successfully.  Now I see a very strange behavior.  I am able to connect with BOTH root / calvin and root / new_password.  I tried to change the password of the cli and web gui racadm.  No luck.  I have confirmed that there is no external authentication is enabled, so local connection is all that should work.

To be honest, I don't know even where to start looking for failures for a bizarre question.  I've never seen a single user name works with two password combinations.  Maybe someone can shed some light on this for me?  Please do not hesitate to ask or comment out everything that can be useful.  This prevents me from going ahead with construction since I can't very well put a chassis in production with a default root password...

If I'm not clear, or if anyone would like any other information feel free to ask.  I really want to get this resolved as soon as POSSIBLE.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

    Jeff

You can also check if the password reset jumper is installed on CMC. If the password reset jumper is installed default user name and password will be functional.

You can see 'Reset the administrator password' at the bottom of the user's guide for more details on this feature.

  • Satellite 1000-S158 changed the BIOS password on an empty

I changed the BIOS password on an empty (blank). I can't access the BIOS. Pressing on enter: it shows the error isn't the right password.
    How can I fix?

Hmm. sounds you did something wrong maybe you misspelled or set a different password?

Anyway, the point is that you are not able to bypass the BIOS password screen and in this case you will be unable to start Notepad.

The problem is that you cannot remove the BIOS password, this can be done by a technician of ASP.

In my opinion only technician in ASP can help you.

Although the follwing linked to the thread is on T450 ThinkPads the answer is the same across the range of product; You can only do this if you have already set a password manually.

  • Is there a safe way to change the admin password?

When I got my custom PC built and began working with her six years ago, I had no understanding of the importance of strong passwords. The password for the administrator account on my PC is very low. I said two completely different things on fixing this. 1. it is completely impossible and any attempt will be completely trash the account Admin 2 - it is possible if you use the correct procedure and follow the instructions carefully. Who is the most reliable assertion?

    Hi okieseeker,

It does not hurt to change the password on the computer, unless you change or forget the password.

    Hello

The access password is in the router to verify with the support of the manufacturer of the router. Most are online
help for this, even though setting up as new. Change the router password, even to change the SSID
(name) and then only you should be able to open a session.

    I hope this helps.

  • Dell your 2161DS remote console switch cannot change the Admin password after updated to the latest Firmware

    Dear Sir:

After having updated the latest Firmware [Dell your 2161DS digital switch, Firmware, Multi OS, Multi language, Multi system, v.3.1.0.0, 1.3 (A03-00)] and restore the default settings. We do this directly through the Remote Console software.  Seeing the log in window, the user name is "Admin" and there is no password.  We can access in the switch, but "Admin" a/c is missing from the "User" settings category. So we can't change the Admin password.

Could you help us to change any password Admin password?

    Thank you
