change the subnet Rac

Hi gurus,

Im working on CARS (11.2.0.3) 2 nodes, under RHEL 5.3

I had to update some scan/vip /... and I used documents 276434.1 and 283684.1 for this purpose. Everything worked fine, but when I rebooted both servers I can't start scan, I check the logs and found this:

CRS-2674: beginning of "ora.scan2.vip", the "RAC2' failed

CRS-5017: the action "ora.scan2.vip start" resource has met the following error:

CRS-5009: virtual 192.168.XXX.XXX IP address does not belong to the subnet 192.168.XXX.XXX

. For details, refer to "(:CLSN00107:))" "in ' / u01/app/grid/log/rac1/agent/crsd/orarootagent_root/orarootagent_root.log '.

CRS-2674: beginning of "ora.scan2.vip", the "RAC1' failed

CRS-2632: there is no more servers to try to put the resources ' ora. LISTENER_SCAN2. LSNR' on which would meet its investment policy

RPRC-1079: could not start the ora of the resource. LISTENER_SCAN3. LSNR

CRS-5017: the action "ora.scan3.vip start" resource has met the following error:

CRS-5009: virtual 192.168.XXX.XXX IP address does not belong to the subnet 192.168.XXX.XXX

. For details, refer to "(:CLSN00107:))" "in ' / u01/app/grid/log/rac2/agent/crsd/orarootagent_root/orarootagent_root.log '.

CRS-2674: beginning of "ora.scan3.vip", the "RAC2' failed

CRS-5017: the action "ora.scan3.vip start" resource has met the following error:

CRS-5009: virtual 192.168.XXX.XXX IP address does not belong to the subnet 192.168.XXX.XXX

. For details, refer to "(:CLSN00107:))" "in ' / u01/app/grid/log/rac1/agent/crsd/orarootagent_root/orarootagent_root.log '.

Check if the scan configuration and has obtained subnet, netmask and interface was wrong so I did:

# $GRID_HOME/bin/crsctl modify resource ora.net1.network -attr "USR_ORA_SUBNET=192.168.xxx.xxx"

    # $GRID_HOME/bin/crsctl modify resource ora.net1.network -attr "USR_ORA_NETMASK=255.255.xxx.xxx"

    But always had bad interface

SCAN name: scanVV, network: 1/192.168.XXX.XXX/255.255.xxx.xxx/eth3 <-should have eth0 rather eth3)

SCAN VIP name: scan1, IP: /scanv3/192.168.XXX.XXX

SCAN VIP name: scan2, IP: /scanv3/192.168.XXX.XXX

SCAN VIP name: scan3, IP: /scanv3/192.168.XXX.XXX

I been looking for but do not know how to change the name of the interface... any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

    How do I change?

    I found the answer

When I checked the values of network, I saw:

network config srvctl [oracle@rac2 bin] $

    Network exists: 1/192.168.X.X/255.255.XXX. X / eth3, static type

    Network: 3/192.168.XXX.XXX/255.255.XXX.XXX/eth0, static type

network 1 should be with the values of the 3 network and vice versa. Default SCAN takes the values of the network 1.

I tried to edit with 'srvctl edit k - 1 s 92.168.XXX.XXX/255.255.XXX.XXX/eth0 network' and 'srvctl change network k - 3 s 192.168.X.X/255.255.XXX. "X / eth3", at this stage, I checked the values of vip/scan /... and has not performed well... everything was down, now I know that I must restart the cluster to get the new configuration after change.

As I does not restart, I was panic and I tried my second option, network configuration delete and recreate with the good:

remove all the network + vip:

    [root@rac1]./srvctl remove vip 192.168.X.XXX, 192.168.XXX.XXX, 192.168.XXX.XXX, 192.168.X.XXX f y - v-i

create network + vip with correct network number:

    [root@rac1]./srvctl add vip - n RAC1 k 1 - a 192.168.XXX.XXX/255.255.XXX.XXX/eth0

    [root@rac1]./srvctl add vip - n RAC2 k 1 - a 192.168.XXX.XXX/255.255.XXX.XXX/eth0

    [root@rac1]./srvctl add vip - n RAC1 k - 3-A 192.168.X.XXX/255.255.XXX. X / eth3

    [root@rac1]./srvctl add vip - n RAC2 k - 3-A 192.168.X.XXX/255.255.XXX. X / eth3

Now everything works well again. Hope my question will help someone someday

    • Change the subnet on the network profile

      Hello

Like a fool I created 3 network profiles and paths using 16 subnets when they should have been 24. I wonder now to open firewall rules to route to other VLANs in 24 of the subnets. As its 16 and the two first parts are identical i.e. 10.2.X.X they don't route through the firewall

The current VMS I can just go to manually change the subnet assigned to the NIC and they work.

When I look at a network profile to change the subnet - it is greyed out

Is there a way I can change this manually? so that the new virtual machines created with / 24 subnet and exisiting VMs I can manually change

Or is the only way to delete the network profile and start over. How this affect the VMs running other than bulk can try and assign an IP address already in use?

      Thank you!

You can try to update the database

Find the name of the profile

      SELECT * from StaticIPv4NetworkProfile

the name of the profile update

      Update dbo. StaticIPv4NetworkProfile

      Set SubnetMaskIPv4 = "255.255.255.0" where StaticIPv4NetworkProfileName = 'YOUR NETWORK PROFILE'

Open the database in SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio) and run the SQL query when it is connected to your database of vRA. He has not supported but will most likely solve your problem.

Or if you are not happy to do this directly through the database, you might try using the vRO vRA plugin and call the vCACEntityManager and update the StaticIPv4NetworkProfiles entity. My guess is the update of the database direct would be easier, but please take a backup and only update the field and nothing else.

    • Script to change the subnet and vlan.

      Hello

Please can anyone help with a script to change the subnet and VLANs on all the esx host in a cluster for the vmotion and management network interface?

      Thank you

      Astra

I guess it worked because you pasted an out front, so:

      Get-Cluster mycluster. Get-VMHost | Get-VMHostNetworkAdapter | where {$_.} PortGroupName - eq "VMotion"} | {} %
      Game-VMHostNetworkAdapter - VirtualNic $_ - IP $_. IP - subnet mask "255.255.254.0" - confirm: $false
      }

I guess that makes still out:

      Get-Cluster mycluster. Get-VMHost | Get-VMHostNetworkAdapter | where {$_.} PortGroupName - eq "VMotion"}

      2 vmknis right?

If Yes, then it should work I think.

    • Cannot change the subnet mask of eCard in 7.1.3 (opensuse 11.4)

Had this problem before with 7.0 on suse 11.2, but I forget how I "fixed it". This is quite irritating considering I found nothing on google about this topic. I hope it's just my ignorance with the software and not a real problem, but when I try to change a vmnet as Host-only adapter, I have no option to change the subnet mask. I've seen tutorials where you just have this option, but I did not.

I use a very simple script to make changes to the Infrastructure virtual VMware which are not available on Linux hosts via the virtual network editor in Linux in VMware Workstation version.  Note that there may be other ways, but this is what worked for me.  Also note that changes to the value of a parameter that is not a correct value will cause failures, and that's why I have the scrip, run the commands with the talkative and check the ifconfig and VMware Network Status before and after you made the changes and you will see that in the attached script.

If you do not have what it takes to use the attached script then in a Terminal root or with sudo:

      sudo /usr/bin/vmware-networks --stop -v
      sudo cp -p /etc/vmware/networking /etc/vmware/networking.backup
      sudo cp -p /etc/vmware/vmnet1/dhcpd/dhcpd.conf /etc/vmware/vmnet1/dhcpd/dhcpd.conf.backup
      sudo cp -p /etc/vmware/vmnet8/dhcpd/dhcpd.conf /etc/vmware/vmnet8/dhcpd/dhcpd.conf.backup
      sudo nano /etc/vmware/networking
      sudo nano /etc/vmware/vmnet1/dhcpd/dhcpd.conf
      sudo nano /etc/vmware/vmnet8/dhcpd/dhcpd.conf
      sudo /usr/bin/vmware-networks --start -v
      sudo /usr/bin/vmware-netcfg
      sudo /usr/bin/vmware-networks --start -v

In the attached script, you will see the following note about the use of writing, or why this is done manually:

          # NOTE: Load the VMware Virtual Network Editor and then click the OK button.
          # This is being done for two reasons, one is to validate the settings
          # and the other is to create a new DHCP_CFG_HASH in the networking file.
          #
          # Be sure to review the 'Current Status after editing...' for any errors.

      echo
echo Starting VMware Virtual Network Editor...
      echo
      sudo /usr/bin/vmware-netcfg

As I said there may be other ways and VMware is unfortunately very tight secretive about what they do the document to be disclosed to the public, which is unfortunately very little.  It is so absurd that the version of Windows is not this limitation but I guess I would really be surprised since removed altogether VMware VMware Player for Linux virtual network editor and does not install it for the VMware Player for Windows even if it's in the Windows Installer Package. Go figure!

    • Change the subnet for VMkernel and Vmotion

Our current configuration has Vmotion on the same subnet as our production machines, which I am not happy, encourage, that is causing our 3com troubled when past we vmotion virtual machine.

We have dedicated a subnet of vmotion and want to change the port on the new subnet vmkernel.

Our current vmkernel port has physical NIC 2, 1 in standby mode.

My plan is to create another port vmkernel on the same switch and the standby card. I enable vmotion on that one, then disable vmotion on the original.

Then, I would delete the original vmkernel port.

This plan won't work and if so, what type of network on the age I will consider.

Finally, is there a better way that I can do?

      Evening,

It's actually how we run our Console Service with VMotion. We have the Service Console and VMotion on a vSwitch. The Port Console of Service Group is configured with 1 adapter active network and 1 in standby mode. The Group of ports VMotion is configured in reverse. It separates traffic while giving you still a level of redundancy in case a cable/adapter network breaks down.

As you add VMotion for a vSwitch existing (vswif0), then will be without interruption, unless as it displays other says you have IP storage.

      Kind regards

      Hi Jeff,

a restart should not be necessary. Just change the subnet using c# client, the Web Client or the DCUI mask. It is possible to use a PowerCLI script to make the change. It goes the same for the VCSA. I don't think that a reboot is necessary.

    • Change the VLAN ID on a group of ports on a vSS

We are changing the subnet that our vCenter VM resides on that will translate into change us vCenters IP address, subnet mask and gateway.

He also goes to say that we must change the VLAN ID on the port group.

My question is, can we change the Port Group VLAN ID first or first change vCenters details?. (So it is in VST Mode physical ports on the switch are trunk ports with say VLAN 100 and 200 with the new 300 of VLAN to add)

      Very welcome any suggetions. :-)

Use the vSphere client to connect to the host that is running the VM vCenter.

In this session of vSphere client, you can

      (a) change the VLAN switch vSS

      (b) open a console for the VM vCenter and change the IP settings it

The vCenter VM will lose its network connection, but your session will continue to run, because you are connectly directly to a host (and no to vCenter).

If the vCenter server is connected to an Active Directory server, then make sure to use a local administrative account or a domain administrator with cached credentials to connect.

Furthermore, after you change the IP address of vCenter you will probably run the issue described here: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1001493, but the article contains a resolution for this.

    • Change the ESXi host IP address

      Hello

I have the following Setup for vSphere 4.1 and you must change the subnet:

      1 - host 1.0.0.1

      Host 2: 1.0.0.2

      Home 3 - 1.0.0.3

      vCenter - 1.0.0.99

I need to move all my guests and my vCenter to a new subnet:

      1 - host 1.0.0.1

      Host 2: 1.0.0.2

      Home 3 - 1.0.0.3

      vCenter - 1.0.0.99

I want to try a host first of so I moved all my virtual machines from the host 3.

I can go on the pages of Configuration/network host and select Properties on the virtual switch containing VMkernel port of my network management - from there it seems that I can just change the network IP management settings. However, it is the right way to do it? I thought that the best thing to do is the following:

      1 disconnect the host vCenter

      2. connecting to the host directly using vSphere client

      3. change the IP address of the host management network

4 reconnect to the host (using the new IP address of the host) using vCenter

Should I switch to maintenance mode?

The same operation can be performed on a host running VMs?

      Thank you

Change the management IP has no impact on the virtual machines running on this host. To make a change of this nature, I often disable HA (either completely, or uncheck "Enable Host Monitoring" on the segment of HA configuration). This will ensure that the interruption in the availability of management so that the changes of property intellectual fires any sort of isolation HA event.

HA, you should be able to make the change from the vSphere client attached to the host or vCenter. Just make sure that you have access to the consoles so you fubar the vSwitch and needed fix through tech support mode or the DCUI.

You are afraid to have virtual machines on the host, if not in maintenance mode to evacuate VMs. It is not necessary.

vCenter relies heavily on DNS, make sure that the new IP address reflects the input host DNS.

    • Change the default line weight

Is it possible to change the default race weight arising in the Contour palette?

At the moment I get 0.25 pt, pt 0.5, 0.75 pt 1 pt, pt 2, pt 3, etc.

I'm working on a project that requires lots of 0.3 to 1.5 pt strokes (with different fillings).

It's exhausting to have to enter the values of all time, and the pipette is not always useful unless I do a "palette" with all possible moves and fillings.

      Nope.

(Freehand has long provided a preference that allows you to define the list of increases that appear in the menu of weight STROKE.)

Workaround is to change the graphic Style by default or create additional Graphic Styles in the start-up documents and templates that you use.

    • Change the IP and subnet

Hi, I wanted advice on the change of the ip address and the subnet.

I have a band with 3 equallogics, currently the Group ip and individual ip addresses are in the same subnet as the main network (well separated on different switches). The management ports are not enabled. (Don't ask, it's just like that!)

What I want to do is change all the iscsi ports to another subnet, select the management on the original subnet ports.

How better to do this without downtime (if possible)?

      Do the following

      1. replace the new subnet 1 NIC on each server

      2. change eth1 on each equallogic new subnet

      3. change the Group on the new subnet IP

4 connect target iscsi initiator on the servers to the new IP address

5 change the rest of the NIC on the servers and equallogic to new subnet

      6. turn on management NIC on old subnet

      Hello

Also are the servers on the switches 'SCSI '?

I do not have this being done without a failure.  You will need to disconnect all connections to the server, enter the new address connection and re of the discovery.  If you have both at the same time, you will eventually "double Assembly" volumes.  That would likely result in corruption when you you disconnected the old connections.

Otherwise, your plan is mostly correct.

      1.) disconnect all servers

2.) change a port on each Member of the new subnet.

(3.) the IP address of the group change

4.) changes the IP address remains addressed both.  Make an interface on one, then another.

(5.) assuming that you will isolate the switches, remove the connection inter between them.

6.) connect the Mgmt ports to the LAN switch and activate Mgmt dedicated to all members

7.) Ping test all interfaces on the servers.

8.) remove old discovery address and preferred for windows targets. (The static mappings for VMware)

9.) add new discovery journal volumes and return address in.

10.) repeat on the remaining servers

In such cases, the first assumption is aligned to the pixel grid.

You can select the entire document and untick finally align on the pixel grid in the Transform palette and uncheck also align new objects to the pixel grid in the options of the Launcher. It is crucial that the checkbox is disabled completely, not just a - which also count as ticked.

It may be noted that even align with the pixel grid is cleared with all the selected objects, align new objects to the pixel grid is checked as the creation of new objects will result in these new objects being aligned, even when they are created from existing objects that can happen with Pathfinder operations.

You can avoid the types of documents with the default (RGB for the web and other) or change the default value for such documents.
