Change Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit

Hello

I have a Pavilion dv6 2005tx, with Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit.

How can I change the system for the same windows? but 64-bit.

I mean without buying a new windows license... As a new copy comes with both 64-bit 32-bit (which I have), I don't see why I should pay extra if I already have a license and I don't want to not upgrade 'pro' or 'ultimate '.

It's really disappointing and stupid I bought a computer with 4 GB of RAM and I can only use 3 GB because the boundaries of the operating system that comes installed from the fabric.

  • Satellite L635 - how to change Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit?

    Need help.

Satellite L635 bought a few months ago with Windows 7 Home Premium installed on the HARD drive. When the first time activate Windows, I can choose 32-bit or 64-bit Windows, then I chose Windows 7 32 bit.

Can I switch my laptop RAM 4 GB, 2 weeks ago. And I come to know that windows 7 32 bits can not read more than 3 GB of RAM. Only windows 7 64 bit can read more than 3 GB.

My question is, how do I change from 32-bit to 64-bit Windows because toshiba gave me Windows 7 install CD / DVD. Windows has already been installed on the HARD drive.

    Thank you.

    Hello

    > because toshiba gave me Windows 7 Installer CD / DVD
Yes, because you must create this disk yourself using pre-installed recovery media creator. But I m wondering why ask this question here because it s mentioned in the user manual you must create this disk as soon as possible. If HDD recovery would fail or install another OS, you need this CD to restore preinstalled settings of Toshiba.

If you use the (boot from it) Toshiba Recovery disk, you should be also asked if want to 32-bit or the 64 bit version of Windows 7. So I recommend creating these discs and use it to install Windows 7 64 bit.

If your 64 bit Vista is preinstalled, it is classified as an OEM license, and you will need to purchase a full version 32 bit/license and do a clean install.

  • Satellite A660 - change Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit

    Hi there everyone.

Really hoping someone can help me here. My A660 had 64-bit Windows 7 installed on it. It was installed as an option I chose when I bought the new product. I had to fix it because the hard drive was bad sectors. If Toshiba gave me an interview and gave me a new hard drive and reinstalled Windows for what they called the factory settings. It seems that it is 32 bit Windows7.

Now I have a problem when I go to reinstall my system image before taking service, I've created, but I seem to fail whenever I try this. I used the advanced recovery methods and he does not see my hard drive, but when I restart from there he concludes the backup on the external drive, but then he says that he cannot reinstall and I need to reinstall from the recovery disc. So I restart from that and it loads, but it gets to a point where he wants me to insert a disc to cotninue recovery and, as previously indicated my system image are on an external hard drive.

I'm really lost, stayed back and tried to copy the image of the system directly on the folder of C, but which does nothing. I don't know what to do to get the picture of the system either accepted, or the recovery disc that I have the system installed.

I'm not a tech guy, but am pretty comfortable in following instructions. Can anyone help me, either move to 64-bit or reinstall it with. Please, I beg you, help is needed! I thought I did everything I was supposed to and followed all the rules handy calculation, but I do not.

Thanks in advance for any help

    Hello

    > It seems that it is 32 bit Windows7.
Is this really Windows 7 32-bit and you have already verified this? You can check if you right click on my computer and select Properties.

If he s really Windows 7 32 bit, you can restore the 64-bit version using the Toshiba recovery disc but if I understood you correctly you don t have the recovery disk and only some of the files you backed up on external HARD disk, right? Well is not enough

Normally, the recovery disk Toshiba, you create yourself as mentioned in the user manual. Using this disk, you can restore the original settings of the case and after the first start of your laptop you have seen this message:

  • Change windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit (new Board)

I had to replace my motherboard there is a little more than 6 months. the new Board of Directors is ready for 64-bit and I also need to replace the RAM.
I want to change to x 64 to take advantage of the RAM, (I now 16 gb) should I buy another key (my windows was OEM)
He currently spends all validations, but reading in the forums, a lot of people have trouble using OEM keys on motherboards retail.

    Maybe I said properly,

I bought an HP computer a few years ago, Windows 7 Ultimate pre-installed.
About 6 months ago motherboard is dead, so I had to replace it with a new one, which also required an upgrade of the processor and RAM.

It wasn't a replacement motherboard unless HP were those who replaced because the original was is no longer available. Which would mean that Windows 7 may not be transferred to it since you are using a version of Windows OEM.

Drive HARD original is installed on this new motherboard but Windows still reports that it is authentic.  HP did not provide a disk with this system, so I only have a commercial version of Digital River.
as the replacement motherboard is NOT one that comes with this product key, I am worried that when I do a clean install from a disk at retail, it will fail validation.

I would like to get a new hard drive to install to and save the old just in case Windows won't validate after you have installed the 64-bit. Get a new hard drive would not be a bad idea that 5 years is over the average life of the mechanical controls.

I see that you answered someone else saying that OEM can be used only on the card mother original. (tried to tie but on my phone and I can not stick to a reason any) this is where I am confused.
How my system still the actual statement if it can only be used on the ORIGINAL motherboard?

Chipsets of the card must be similar to the first Council that does not trigger the change. I think certainly that the relocation will trigger activation. Try the method of André could work and it might not. All you can do is try. If this isn't the case, you will need to buy Windows.

  • Want to change Windows Ultimate 32-bit to 64-bit

I got a Windows 7 Ultimate for Windows 7 IT launch event a few years back, but it did come with a 64-bit version and now I want to upgrade to a 64-bit. So I have two questions: I'll be able to use the same key, if I get a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit system integrator? I am able to get a replacement disc to get the 64-bit version of the Microsoft?

Your key is good for both versions 32 and 64 bit, like you I also received a 32-bit NFR at one of the events taking place at this time. I just recently (about 45 days ago) on a 64-bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate edition using the key received during the event.

You don't need a disk System Builder (unless you already have a), but if it were me I would use the 64-bit download below (both 32 and 64 Bit vrsinons below also contains Service Pack 1 that the NFR promo you received does not work)

  • How to change the default Windows 7 64-bit installation directory?

Just installed Windows 7 64 bit home edition, can't seem to change the default installation with regedit successfully directory. Is no problem in XP. I have the windows installed on a small SSD with a second hard drive to use for progams for example F:/Program Files.

    Anyone done this successfully?

    Thank you very much

The 64-bit version has two versions of regedit. Make this change as well:

    1.) go into start > run: %systemroot%\syswow64\regedit
    2.) pass: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SOFTWARE-Microsoft-Windows-CurrentVersion
3.) change the path in DWORDs ProgramFilesDir, ProgramFilesDir (x 86) the new path, probably just change the drive letter.

Usually this is impossible on computers with Windows 7.  In almost all cases, you need to go to the store, buy Windows 7 32-bit and use the CD to install it on your computer.  This also requires the deletion of your system, you will need to reinstall all your programs and settings.

  • How to change Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit to 64 bit with no disc?

I've upgraded Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit to 32 bit Ultimate.  I want to do a custom 64-bit Setup, but does not.  Now that I've upgraded to Ultimate 32 bit how can I change to 64-bit?  My upgrade was merely a box with an activation key, no disc not provided.  Upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium to Vista buying and don't download from MS Store so no original or the other disk.  Thanks for any help!

You must have the disk to do a clean custom install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Contact the Microsoft Store for a replacement disk:

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7install/thread/fb8230d4-000F-4ee7-b732-c9f8fff28bfd

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.
