  I understand that suddenly you are not able to adjust the brightness.  You did not go to recent changes made to your system.

  You did all your Windows updates?

  Here is a link to Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool that can help to find additional drivers.   Although it lists Windows 7 it does not work in Windows 10.

  Once launched, it should show a screen like this.

  

  Use the second "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" option, this should lead to an update of "Windows updates". which cannot be automatically applied might solve some of these issues

  Did you run the HP Support Assistant?

  Have you ran the Windows troubleshooting tool?

  You could also do a restore to before it's product.  Computers HP - using Microsoft System Restore (Windows, 10, 8)

  Have you checked against viruses and malware?  MS malware removal tool

When I go to my modem config (192.168.0.1) I see the device listed with the IP address has changed, but when I go to any Web site other then my modem config, internet will not work. It also shows that if I ha no WiFi in my task bar thing. I have a static IP address on my Tablet very well and want to do the same with my laptop win8.

  If you are still having problems connecting to the internet, so I would ask you to reset TCP/IP and check if it works.

  Follow these steps:

  one) starts at the desktop view.

  (b) open the command prompt, right-click in the corner when the start window appears, select command prompt (admin).

  (c) at the command prompt, copy and paste (or type) the following command and then press ENTER:
  netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

  Note: If you do not specify a path of the directory for the log file, use the following command:
  netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

  (d) restart the computer.

  The Fn + F8 isn't really essential to use the WiFi network. Generally, the WiFi network should be enabled by default.
