  • The Safari search returns top hits

When you type in the address bar URL Safari on my iMac, the first character keeps replace them with the next character, and returns the Top Hits.  For example, when I try to type "safari" in the URL address bar, the ' is replaced by 'a' and he returned to Amazon.com.  This started happening in the last two weeks.  In Safari preferences, I unchecked the preload Top Hit back and suggestions include Safari and Safari restarted with no luck.  Any ideas or suggestions?  It is annoying when I want to search directly from Safari instead of open a search engine like google or bing.

If you choose Safari > Preferences, click search, and then deselect "preload Hit Top in the background. As you type in the smart search field, Safari no longer starts loading a page would be the hit albums based on your bookmarks and browsing history.

  • How to clear Safari search preferences?

Safari uses only DuckDuckGo even if I checked to Google search. The results include spam and * spam. This feels like malware...

Click here and follow the instructions, or if you do not delete rather manually the adware, launches MalwareBytes for Mac. If you run 10.6.8 or earlier, you must use the instructions in the manual.

MalwareBytes simplifies the process of removal of adware, but does not stop it or other malware from entering the computer. It should not be invoked to prevent future incidents; Instead, avoid downloading software from sources other than the Mac App Store or Developer Web sites.

  • change/stylize the re ' search results for use on screen .htmlText

    Hello

I am working on a search function but have a little trouble finishing some details display. The following code works very well to find and display the text in an xml file, but I want the results displayed differently.

Use the following as a source XML, I would like to:
-Put highlighted in red (var searchTerm) search term when found in the xml file
-Add a few characters before and after the search term to give the term found little context

For now, how could I add 3 characters before and after the search term, as follows: "The first tex" - and highlight 'first' in red?

    Thanks much for any help.

  • InDesign file icon changed to the generic search icon

I just upgraded to Adobe Indesign CC and now all my icons file turned into a white appearance icon generic.  Can someone tell me how to get the icon to look like the Indesign icon again?  Thanks in advance.

    David

I have this kind of experience.

    1. try everything first put CS6 to CC. uninstall your old version of Adobe. then download CC Creative cloud. You are adobe files should be clear and white icon only white.

    2. go in Control Panel > appearance and personalization > Folder Options > tab > under files and folders > always check "show icons, never thumbnails".

    3. go in your Adobe file > right click > properties > general tab > open with > select your newly installed Adobe CC Apps.

This procedure has solved my problem like yours.

    Hope I helped.

    Concerning

  • Is there a way to set 'Google by name' as the default search engine? I tried to change keyword. URL, but still it does not work.

I changed (had to add the string so perhaps the preference has changed?) keyword. URL to http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8 & sourceid = navclient & gfns = 1 & q =, but when I try to enter 'youtube', he always tries to load http://youtube/, not http://youtube.com. Whereas, on my office firefox entering youtube would take me on youtube.

Is it possible to get this working?

Note that keyword. URL is no longer used in Firefox 22, so you can't use this to set the search engine used by the address bar. We now use the search provider selected in the search bar.

  • OSX Safari Search Bar Workaround 10.11.3

    Confirmed workaround solution

After the upgrade to OSX 10.11.3, I found that the Safari search bar was unusable.

There is a simple solution; However, it hinders the performance of search.

Click Safari > Preferences > search

    Uncheck the box:

    1. include some Suggestions of Safari
    2. Search for quick activation Web site
    3. Top Hit pre-load in the background
    4. Display Favorites.

Note that the performance must be affected.

You can also use Private Browsing Mode - seems unaffected.

    Can confirm workaround works.

In addition, for Safari on iOS, go to settings > Safari and disable the 'search engine Suggestions' and 'Safari Suggestions' (make it white instead of green).

I have Safari 9.1, El Capitan. The changes I make in the Safari preferences are not saved after that I close the program. There is no such thing as a Library/Preferences/Safari. What should do?

I think you're looking in the root folder not your home folder.   Tilde ~ in front of the first slash indicates the folder.

    Try this...

    Quit Safari.

Open a Finder window. In the Finder menu bar, click go > go to folder

Type or copy paste the following text:

    ~/Library/preferences/com. Apple.Safari.plist

Click OK, and then move the com.apple.Safari.plist file to the trash.

    Restart Safari to test.

  • Cannot change the Google search criteria in Safari

I have a MB Pro OS X El Capitan 10.11.12 running version 2015.  My default search engine is Google.  After the recent update, whenever I'm looking for something in the Apple search bar in Safari, it will bring me to the page of Google results as usual, but if I want to change the search criteria in the search bar (not the Apple search bar), it won't let me.  It won't delete, add, or change the search criteria in the Google search bar in the Web page.

I tried Yahoo and Bing and both work very well.  I also tried Google on Firefox and it works fine too, there must be something with Safari.

Any suggestions?  Does anyone else have this problem?

Ugh! I just figured this out, the simplest thing too.

There is a dialog box on the google page saying something like "Download Google Chrome" and you can click on the x to close that.  Once you do this, the search bar can be changed again.

  • Missing bookmarks in the smart search field in Safari

Since the release of El Capitan 10.11.6, favorites are missing from the smart search field in Safari to new Windows.  If a Safari any page web (so far), clicking in the search box if poster is Favorites to view icons, as is expected.

Is this a bug, or can I make some adjustments to bring them new windows?

    Thank you!

    Dick

    Hello Dick Huitema.

If I understand your message to the right, when you open a new window in Safari, you do not see your favorite icons in the smart search field.  When I use Safari, I always like to have my favorites available and ready to use, so I can understand why you would be tender for assistance with this.

You probably feel that if Safari is set to open new windows in an empty page. If yours is configured in this way, there is a very easy way to get these favorites icons to show without actually changing any settings. When you open a Web page, you should see a blank webpage with your top search bar and a cursor blinking in the search bar. Instead click inside the search bar right away, click anywhere on the empty Web page and then click on in the empty search bar. You should then see your Favorites icons appear.

Another option is to set your homepage to your Favorites. You can do it in Safari > Preferences. On the general tab in Safari preferences, select the drop-down menu next to "new windows open with", and then choose favorite. This should ensure that when you open new web pages, all your Favorites icons show immediately. Favorites icons always appear in the smart search field when additional tabs are open as well.
