Safari search since 9.0.3

Just updated to 9.0.3 and I can type a question in the search bar, but nothing happens when I hit return. Also my favorites happen when I put the cursor in the search window, as they did. Any advice out there?

Turn off the Suggestions of Safari in the preferences/Safari/search / uncheck Safari Suggestions.

  • OSX Safari Search Bar Workaround 10.11.3

    Confirmed workaround solution

After the upgrade to OSX 10.11.3, I found that the Safari search bar was unusable.

There is a simple solution; However, it hinders the performance of search.

Click Safari > Preferences > search

    Uncheck the box:

    1. include some Suggestions of Safari
    2. Search for quick activation Web site
    3. Top Hit pre-load in the background
    4. Display Favorites.

Note that the performance must be affected.

You can also use Private Browsing Mode - seems unaffected.

    Can confirm workaround works.

In addition, for Safari on iOS, go to settings > Safari and disable the 'search engine Suggestions' and 'Safari Suggestions' (make it white instead of green).

If you set your iPhone like China location. The mobile safari will put like google.cn search engine. But Google has pull out of China.  If you are looking for something with google.cn. Google will give you a picture.  You must click on the image and go to the google.com.hk.

The google.cn is no longer! We need google.com!

    Please edit the files:

  • The Safari search returns top hits

When you type in the address bar URL Safari on my iMac, the first character keeps replace them with the next character, and returns the Top Hits.  For example, when I try to type "safari" in the URL address bar, the ' is replaced by 'a' and he returned to Amazon.com.  This started happening in the last two weeks.  In Safari preferences, I unchecked the preload Top Hit back and suggestions include Safari and Safari restarted with no luck.  Any ideas or suggestions?  It is annoying when I want to search directly from Safari instead of open a search engine like google or bing.

If you choose Safari > Preferences, click search, and then deselect "preload Hit Top in the background. As you type in the smart search field, Safari no longer starts loading a page would be the hit albums based on your bookmarks and browsing history.

    So keep the settings as:

  • Changes to the Safari search preferences

Th suggested Apple customer relations people earlier, I changed my preference of Safari to DuckDuckGo.com search and was very happy with it.  However, I now have some kind of malware on my iMac that I can't get rid of, and I think that it will affect the choice of search engine.  For example, when I choose a new window, a kind of empty search engine appears... DuckDuckGo, Google, or Yahoo.  I can't to be recognized search preferences.  This malware is labeled, "OSX. Genieo. "I have Malwaresbytes anti-malware software, and this will help me to clear all malware except this one.

Adware is installed on your Mac without your knowledge.

    How to remove adware?

You will have t this after the boot safe mode to prevent adware

to interfere with the removal of adware.

    1 shut down the computer.

Press the power button. As soon as you hear the startup tone,

Press and hold the SHIFT key .

The SHIFT key must be pressed as soon as possible after the start,

but not until the startup sound.

Release the SHIFT key when you see the Apple logo on the screen.

Start-up will take more time than usual.

Flickering screen is normal mode without failure.

Sign in to your account. Launch Safari.

    Enter this address https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/mac/

in the address bar of Safari.

Download, install, open, then run it by clicking the "Scan" button to remove the adware, as appropriate.

Once this is done, exit MalwareBytes.

    2 safari > Preferences > Extensions

    Disable all extensions

or uninstall all extensions, you have not installed an informed perspective.

    3 safari > Preferences > Search > search engine:

    Select your preferred search engine.

    4 safari > Preferences > general > homepage:

    Set your home page.

5 restart normally in the menu in the  menu bar.

  • How to clear Safari search preferences?

Safari uses only DuckDuckGo even if I checked to Google search. The results include spam and * spam. This feels like malware...

Click here and follow the instructions, or if you do not delete rather manually the adware, launches MalwareBytes for Mac. If you run 10.6.8 or earlier, you must use the instructions in the manual.

MalwareBytes simplifies the process of removal of adware, but does not stop it or other malware from entering the computer. It should not be invoked to prevent future incidents; Instead, avoid downloading software from sources other than the Mac App Store or Developer Web sites.

  • Safari search in words

Hi guys, have a problem. When I use the search tool in Safari (essentially ⌘ + F) is not search a Word, but just the whole word.

If I have a sentence like "it isn't search a Word, but just the word in full" and I get "DSB" he says 'no results found', while if I type "word" he emphasizes the word "word".

Is there a way to change the setting so that it looks like what I need too, inside a Word?

    Thank you

    Safari

    Research letters in a Word

  • Safari search/address bar of copy to URL problem

This has been a problem for about a year, I think that, maybe more, even if I don't specifically remember.

I often use search/address bar of Safari for searches on the internet, probably 90% of the time.  Sometimes, I want to share these search results with others.  The problem is, when I click in the address/search bar to select and copy the URL of the site, I visited, the URL is replaced with the search parameters that I had previously placed instead of the URL of the site that I actually visit.  It is not that this all the time, but very often.  Now that I'm trying to replicate, I can't, even though it took place just 20 minutes ago.  I was finally able to recreate by opening a new Safari window.  It is perhaps connected to tabs how do I open in the window?  Here is a screenshot.  Any ideas of what could be the cause?

    Try a reboot.

Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.
