Changing default path policyrequires a reboot in ESXi 5.0?

I'm curious. I use ESXi 5.0 and using HP EVA 8000 s as my FC San. I changed the default path for each data store to be "RoundRobin" rather than "MRU", for all data warehouses (the same 12 stores of data to 6 guests). I did it in the vSphere client. So far so good.

Then I changed the strategy of paths default to be too "VMW_PSP_RR" for any type of storage (ATAS) VMW_SATP_ALUA table, so all new data warehouses would come as Robin and not MRU. However, I came across an announcement here that recommended to reboot the host after this change in the policy of default paths. However, it was also to ESXi 4.1.

So:

1. do I need to restart? Otherwise, * should * I reboot? I don't think I need to restart after simply changing data warehouses; the display spoke to restart after changing the default paths for future data storage.

2. I also read my ATAS should be VMW_SATP_ALUA rather than VMW_SATP_EVA (which would seem logical to use, given that all my without are EVA 8 x 00 models). True? If so, why?

Thank you

BTW. defining PAHO are / s should be no problem either. I never noticed any negative influence when you change the value of RoundRobin IOPS on LUNs and hosts live during business hours.

I don't know much on El Capitan. You used to be able to do with symbolic links that look like aliases, but are certainly not aliases.

Some of these things you can do with the applications themselves. iTunes (and probably all) allow you to store media or even your entire library in a different location.

  • FMS4 - How to change the default path (rtmp://serverName/vod/ to rtmp://serverName/sites/)?

We had before installed FMS2 and the paths to all of our videos are like rtmp://ServerName/sites/... However, the default path on FMS4 is rtmp://ServerName/vod/... Is there a way to change the "vod" to "sites"?

I tried to change VOD_COMMON_DIR in fms.ini/install_dir/webroot/vod/install_dir/webroot/sites and also changed the document root in the httpd.conf file, but rtmp://ServerName/sites/ still does not work.

can I change the path for my start, all programs, windows updates to be updated from microsoft without view compatibiliy?

Edit: have reinstalled os with a sp3 slipstreamed cd.

Edit2: no sites are not listed in my compatibility view settings.

There is no need to uninstall/reinstall MSE.

    1. open IE (only!) to Microsoft Update . Click change settings in the left pane. Scroll to the bottom of the page. To stop using Microsoft Update. Disable the Microsoft Update software and let me use Windows Update only (check).

    1B. Reboot for good measure.

    2. your shortcut on the start menu should now be updated to Windows . [1] use it (not the Tools menu pull-down option) to go to http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate. Assuming that it does NOT open in compatibility mode...

    3. "Flip" your source of default update appropriate Microsoft update by clicking on the option / link on the main page of Windows Update (IIRC).

3B. reboot for good measure & test to see if the Microsoft Update shortcut on your Start menu will however open IE8 in compatibility view.

PS: I don't have a WinXP box handy to test myself, but the last time I used the Microsoft Update shortcut on one of my client computers, it has not opened in compatibility view. As far as I know, MS may have changed something since then so YMMV.

    =============================================================
[1] If you persevere with Windows Update as a source of update by default, MSE will always be 'auto-update' [even thought that Windows Update will offer more optional updates Defs] but will offer no updates to the ESM (e.g. new versions MSE) program or updates for MS Office, Silverlight, or Skype .

  • SQL Express LocalDB Path missing until reboot

We have just upgraded one of our Installer components required for SQL Express LocalDB 2014 (SP1) since the 2012 version.

The problem is that LocalDB installer does not update the path environment variable, so when the main installer try subsequently call slqlocaldb it fails because it cannot find the executable file.

The path variable does not seem to be updated after a reboot, but the LocalDB installer does not prompt for this (and anyway it would be a pain).

Everyone knows this? Is a workaround to enable the change of the path without a reboot?

    Use DBMS_MONITOR. SESSION_TRACE_ENABLE (and SESSION_TRACE_DISABLE).

as far as I know, you cannot change the default location of the trace file.

    In a session, you can change its path filename with ALTER SESSION SET TRACEFILE_IDENTIFIER = "";

  • is it possible to change default PDF directory?

    Hello

I'm learning Contribute CS4 and I have a basic question.

When I download a PDF file, Contribute creates a subdirectory named "documents" and put inside my default PDF files.
Is it possible to set/change the default path?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

You can specify the file Placement rule in Contribute. Here are the steps:

In Contribute after creating the connection to your Web site, click on change-> administer websites and select your Web site from the menu. In the administration dialog box, select a role (Writer/Editor/administrator) and click the button change role settings. In the change settings dialog box, select File Placement, there will be a default rule "all Microsoft and PDF files" should be published in the documents"" folder. Remove this rule. Now add a new rule, by clicking on the Add button. For PDF files, specify the file in .pdf extension, and then you can specify where you want to place the file.

    I hope this helps.

  • Change the path of the files system such as 'Music '.

There is not a lot of space on the internal hard drive SSD in my Macbook.

For this purpose, I'd like to keep some data types with a huge volume to another location, for example on an SD card in the slot.

For example, I want to store my music files on the SD card instead on the internal SSD flash drive.

Of course, I don't want to see the empty folder "~ / music" in my file structure.

    Question:
    Can I change the path ' ~ / music ' to ' / my-sd-card/Music?

    Thanks for your help.

If you completely destroy the music folder in your startup volume/users/music folder (or the folder documents) there is a possibility another application can go get it or try to add files to it, then you should try and keep intact even if you do not plan to use or put the files into it.

You can send a request to look in another folder for music.

for example my iTunes on my El Capitan boot drive is mapped to watch my music in my folder shared user of Yosemite, and on another mac, it's on an external hard drive in a folder called 'music '.

So what application do you need to do this in?

In the case of iTunes, you can redirect the folder from the Advanced section in the iTunes preferences by clicking on 'change... '. "and navigate to the new location.

record music from my boot drive is intact, but there is no files inside.

  • Dynamically change the path of the report

Is it possible to dynamically change the path where reports are saved. TestStand 4.1.1

    Glennjammin,

You can set a path to the specific report for any sequence that you run via the entry points of process model using the reminder of your sequence ReportOptions. It will allow you to change the current settings in the Options report (including the path) for the execution of this sequence. This allows each of your sequences have unique report options.

If I understand your question, you want to do is exactly what is meant recall ReportOptions.
