Changing IMAP to POP blackBerry smartphones

I got BlackBerry on T-Mobile for several years, and I've always been able to set up my email IMAP or POP3 accounts.  I went to Verizon and when I created my email accounts, they default to IMAP.  I own my own domain name and the IMAP and POP3 are supported.

I tried to delete my email accounts and setting them up again with an incorrect password if I could enter my own settings.  However, I am not given to select POP or IMAP protocol.  I prefer the POP as if I delete a message on my handlheld it is also deleted from the server.  Any ideas?

I used the POP and IMAP and prefer the IMAP protocol for further reconciliation functions.

    Hi all

I have a few questions about defining a blackberry to check your e-mail via BIS.

    1. What is the reasoning behind the creation of blackberry account sometimes POP3 and IMAP the other times? For me, POP3 would be something that you're not on a cell phone.

    2. Why is there no option to choose if you want POP3 or IMAP? I tried to delete the account and add it with an incorrect email address and password in order to get some additional questions during the installation but it does not require if I want POP3 or IMAP.

    3. Because POP3 seems to be an option, is it the same as any other POP3 client for example. Outlook, Thunderbird? What I mean it deletes messages from the server after it downloads? I don't want our users, that have POP3 because their Protocol on blackberry to have their blackberry is the only place where they can get their e-mail.

A few notes on some of the users and the BlackBerry models they have.

All users (as far as I know, there are some office users) have Verizon as their company.

It seems to me the question of POP/IMAP, I do experience is not limited to a single type of model. I have a few users who have the storm, their account has been set up using IMAP, other storm users have been set up as IMAP. I myself have a curve (8330) Mine was installed as IMAP, I recently install an another 8330 users and them was configured as POP3. Another user has a Perl and is IMAP. A user has a global publishing and that is using pop. It seems to me that there is no reason why they choose POP or IMAP.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

Hello! I'll try to answer some of this...

    1. What is the reasoning behind the creation of blackberry account sometimes POP3 and IMAP the other times? For me, POP3 would be something that you're not on a cell phone.

... In my humble OPINION the "reasoning" is pure flexibility – to allow a user to access each account type and thus better reflect what they can do on their computer. What about 'if' POP should or should not be on a cell phone, which falls in the pure opinion.

    2. Why is there no option to choose if you want POP3 or IMAP? I tried to delete the account and add it with an incorrect email address and password in order to get some additional questions during the installation but it does not require if I want POP3 or IMAP.

The selection would be a chosen mail server function. Most of the facilities I've seen who have both have separate servers for POP and IMAP for exactly this reason. In addition, some services (GMail comes to mind) allow the user to enable or disable one or both. Instructions for configuring (and be able to direct them to an e-mail specific and, therefore, either POP or IMAP server) are here:

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB10154&SLIC...

Non - Default BIS leaves a copy on the e-mail server for both types of integration. If, however, they remove on the BB and have enabled OTA synchronization and are integrated into a consistent account, it will remove from the server. Check this list for how it integrates with different services:

I hope that this information will help you get at least a step forward for the problems you're having with your users.

  • Changes to my account blackBerry Smartphones Hotmail appeared is not on my BB Curve

Hello. My Blackberry Curve is connected to my hotmail ([email protected]) account.  The email account and the Blackberry seems to reconcile well except for the changes I made to the e-mail account on my PC.  These changes are not compatible with the Blackberry.

So, if I read or delete emails from the BB, this shows up on the PC.  But if I read or delete the e-mails on the PC, it is not on the phone.  The BB does, however, receive emails from this account.

I also have another account connected e-mail (Outlook) which works perfectly.

I searched in the options and can't find anything that looks like it will solve the problem.

Can someone help this newbie to BB?  Even I would like to know if this has you puzzled experts.

    Thank you very much

  • Changed default Email/calendar blackBerry Smartphones; Sync wants to delete all appointments/events; Need of procedure

I'm changing my email address.  I want to change the default settings on my BB Storm so that it syncs with the new email/calendar in Outlook 2007.  There are 3 e-mail addresses and therefore 3 calendars showing in my BB.  Originally, I created an aol.com as the default value.  Now, I want to change to the new.  All of this is through Blackberry Internet Service through Verizon Wireless.

When I changed the default on the BB to the new address, the synchronization process wanted to remove all calendar entries that were introduced through the original e-mail/calendar.  I don't want to lose all those entries in my BB or in Outlook.

I need a procedure that will allow me to keep or to import all calendar entries, once I made the switch.

    Currently, the following conditions:

    Windows Vista 32 bit

    Outlook 2007

    By default the calendar/E-mail: ***@aol.com

I want to change default calendar *@rootbeertogo.com

I can't see clearly how to proceed.

    Advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    EDIT: Delete address

    SOLUTION

After some additional research and experimentation, the following procedure will ensure that you don't lose an event in the Outlook calendar:

    3. check if you want to change the figure in both lists, but do not choose another at this point.

    4. open the calendar.

    6. press the BB button.

    7. Select Options in the menu list.

8 observe the colors that are selected for each of the email addresses that you use on your BB.

    9. you will then need to this information in order to know what are the events to remove.  They are color coded in your BB calendar device.

    10. you can choose different colors if you wish by selecting each address in turn.

    Now, to the Walkthrough:

    1. in the BB replace enamel favorite default one (other) for the two calendar and send here:

1A by selecting Options, Advanced Options, default services

1B. Select the new email address for the calendar and messaging services.

1 c. Save as you go out.

    2. connect your BB to the computer.

    3. when the BB Desktop Manager opens, select Synchronize

    4. during the synchronization process, the only element which should need confirmation is the calendar.

    5. when the synchronization of calendar appears, you will be asked to accept, reject, cancel or re - sync calendars.

    6. choose Resync that will perform a resynchronization complete merger of BB and Outlook calendars.

  • How to change startup & shutdown screen blackBerry smartphones

Hi all! I am a newbie & I searched this topic without luck.

I've unlocked my device on a previous network and now use it on another. However, every time I start and turn off the device the old network logo and splash screen are on the screen.

How can I change this to something else, preferably BB OEM image logo or something?

    Thanks in advance!

You mean that even if I update the firmware to the last she won't change it in stock?

The 'stock' of flash start screen IS the initial seller. You cannot change this, it is hardcoded for the firmware of the device. No upgrade of the OS to OS another carrier will change that.

Just ignore it. This is no big deal and is considered only for a few seconds each time you turn on. Personally, I have never even turn off my BlackBerry. I perform a battery pull reboot every two days and see this screen, rarely noticed.

  • Change default search of blackBerry Smartphones

How can I change the default my 9360 to google.co.uk search engine?

I know I have to add %s to the address in some way, but all combinations I tried just gives me an error. Could someone tell me the correct syntax?

Thank you for your answers gentlemen, none of them were quite right.

I found the answer in the Support Pages. In the settings of the browser page, under Manage Search Options, I added a new search engine, Google UK, to the following address:

    http://www.Google.co.UK/m/search?q=%s

    It's exactly what I wanted.

  • Changing default browser to blackBerry Smartphones for Opera Mini

I would like to change my default browser for Opera mini. Even if Opera has been installed on my BB months ago I can't change it.  I get to the default browser option, but then can't see opera as a choice to change.  There are no choices for change.

    Thanks for any help!

    graygrannyonate,

This is not possible unfortunately. I use Opera Mini as well and because it is a 3rd party software it can be integrated with the rest of applications that are developed by RIM.

  • User to change for Torch 9800 blackBerry Smartphones

I get a new phone myself and give my well-served Torch 9800 too my wife to replace the old Nokia E71. But what is the best way to change user to the phone? I'm not worried to leave all the data on the phone, but I want to change all e-mails, montages etc phone addresses.

Whenever you give your phone to someone else, do a security wipe. In this way, it'll be as they get a new phone right out of the box without data left by you.

    I hope that helps you.

  • Delay of mail POP blackBerry Smartphones

I have a POP of Yahoo email account. It is only synchronize with my "BOLD" every 6 hours. At midnight, all message before 6 a.m. come in. 06:00, all night messages come in. Then, in early afternoon, a bunch more coming. How can I get this question 15 minutes or more?

There is no delay BIS today that I've heard of...

I would say on your BB you do this:

Options > Advanced > Service books. Remove THE service books (usually two) in regards to this email address.

Remove the battery and restart the device.

Return your books to your BIS service provider site.
    http://www.BlackBerryFAQ.com/index.php/Where_can_I_log_into_my_BIS_account%3F

You may have to restart the BB once more.

I hope the above makes sense

BIS is not able to interface directly with Exchange, but have to use OWA, IMAP or pop. However, see:

Cause 3 may be what you need.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Gmail IMAP is not really IMAP

Just create an account Gmail Gmail specifications. Everything seems to work in the direction of the BB to Gmail, such as messages deleted on BB are deleted on the Gmail server and status message reading. But it does not work the other way. Read or delete mail on the server of Gmail does not reflect on my BB. Is it the way it should work? If this is the case, is it really different from the way POP work?
