Changing the settings of automatic deletion in Windows Mail

Windows Mail settings have suddenly changed. Now when you close the application, all the read messages in the Inbox "disappears". It does not move to the deleted items folder, it literally disappears. Post in other folders, including sent / deleted, is not affected. I can't find any setting in Mail that controls it - any idea how I can stop what is happening?

Hi Tony,.

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers Forums.  You can have setup an option to hide read messages.  Follow the steps below to find out.

In Windows Mail, select view, current view, and make sure show all Messages is selected.

Please let us know if this solves your problem.  Thank you. Shane

    Hi Fabrax,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forums.

Be you please perform a clean boot on your system to see if that helps to clarify the freezing issue that you are experiencing?

Here are the steps on how to perform a clean boot on your system:

First step: perform a clean boot

    1. sign your computer with an administrator account.

    2. click on start.

    3. type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

    4. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    5. in the general tab, click Selective startup, and then click to clear the check box load startup items.

    6. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.

    * NOTE: Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    7. click OK and then click on restart.

Second step: enable half the services

    1. start the System Configuration utility. Refer to the steps above if you need to see how to do this.

    2. click on the Services tab and then click to select the skin all the Microsoft services checkbox.

3 click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list.

    4. click OK and then click on restart.

Step 3: determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat the first stage and the second stage. In step 2, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have initially enabled in the Service list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat the first stage and the second stage. In the second step, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Service list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one service is selected in the list of services, and you the problem persists, the service selected the cause of the problem. Go to sixth step. If no service is causing this problem, go to step 4.

Step 4: enable half of the startup items

Perform a clean boot by repeating step 1.

Click the Startup tab, and then click to select half of the check boxes in the startup item list.

Click OK and then click on restart.

Step 5: determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat the first step and the fourth step. In step 4, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have originally selected in the startup item list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat the first step and the fourth step. In the fourth step, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the startup item list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one startup item is selected in the startup item list, and you still experience the problem, start selected in the list element is the service that is causing the problem. Go to sixth step.

If no startup item causes this problem, a Microsoft service most likely the cause of the problem. To determine which Microsoft service may be causing the problem, repeat the first stage and the second stage without selecting the skin all the box Microsoft services at every step.

    Step 6: resolve the problem

After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

    Step 7: solve the problem

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on start

    2. type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

    3. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    4. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    5. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

Here is the KB article that came as follows:

After running the clean boot please post back and let us know if it helped to solve your problem or not, so that we can help you if necessary. After you run the startup clean please try and change automatic updating settings again and see if you are still having the same problem. Robyn

  • How can I change the settings for my touchpad of Windows 8? Scroll and click on the problems.

I have an Acer Aspire V5 - 571P and I don't like the operation of the mouse.

I want to change the touchpad so that it doesn't click, I accidentally double - tap twice. (I want just one click to save when I click the mouse pad actually)

I also want to make sure he that when I 'finger 2 roll' down a Web site or in the menus, it goes the same direction instead of reverse (currently, I drag it to go down and left to go right, I want 2 fingers down to go down and right to go right)

I couldn't find it under the control of the settings panel and mouse. The only thing I saw was double clicking.

Thanks for your help, I hope I'm not the only one having problems

I had the same problem and was able to operate the momentum, but the only thing that works is the reverse of scrolling... my reverse option is grayed out so I can't uncheck it and it makes me crazy... Please help

I found the answer in another thread! YAY it works for me now.

    That's what the answer was:

"Go to the 3-rd - 'extra' tab - and choose the last option left -"effect of gesture '; There, change the setting of "ZoomPerfect" to "Microsoft touchpad modern experience." and then return to the 2nd tab (multi-doigt) and choose "Scrolling" again once and voila - now you will be able to change all settings here, including setting "Reverse"! »

Windows Photo Gallery.  How can I change the settings in the Windows Photo Gallery to automatically open the image without going to the index first?

Additional information: there are 2 computers that I use on the first Gallery Photo of Windows will open the image and allow me to use the left and right buttons to scroll through the rest of the photos in the folder, that's what I want.

On the 2nd computer when I open an image it will open the Windows Photo Gallery in an index with thumbnails of the displayed record.  How can I change so that it opens the same thing as the first computer?

I did the following on both computers; Right-click on the image and select open with...--> choose the default program--> go--> Program Files, Windows Photo Gallery, but it will be open always differently on computer 2.

Both computers use Windows Vista 32-bit.

    Thanks in advance.

    (a) open default programs by clicking the Start button, click default programs.

    (b) click on associate a type of file or Protocol with a program

    (c) in the following list of file protocol search jpeg and make sure that you have associated with the program that uses it and then check if it works.

  • I connect Windows 7 as administrator, and yet I click on the link change the settings for Windows Update displays a message that I need to be an administrator.

I've updated a computer in a Family History Library, where I work voluntarily as a librarian.  I clean installed a Windows 7 Pro Enterprise Version OS. A few days earlier and starting to run Windows Update in order to set the computer up to be ready for the configuration of the software and customer communication, I found that although I am registered as an administrator, I was unable to run updates manually or change update settings.  Automatic update seems to work OK, however.

Could someone tell me if there is a way simple routine of manually popularising the Windows updates?

Configure your WiFi connection as connection meter and then check the settings of the meter connections - it allows to disable some updates and other actions which are data, unless you run them manually.

  • How can I change the settings so that when I delete a file, it asks me to confirm

I just got a new computer with Windows 8.

I have not changed the settings, if its because it has been implemented.

When I have a file, such as an e-book, if I want to delete, I'm used to by clicking on the delete key, then a box saying to come to confirm that I want to delete.

This box is NOT coming. I need him.  Deletion of just the delete key, without confirming.  I hit by mistake in the key deletion files!

I checked in the APPEARANCE AND PERSONALIZATION, click RECORDS OPTIONS Control Panel section, and there is no option to make this change.

    Hello

Right click on the shortcut to the Recycle Bin and select Properties.

There is a checkbox for "Display Delete Confirmation Dialog".

    PERFECT!

    I worked!
Thank you very much for being so quick!

  • Why did I click Open in a new tab, and instead, I get a new window instead, I tired to uninstall and reinstall and change the settings, but it will always open in a new window no matter what

I try to open a new tab, but whenever I get a new window no matter what I tried to change the settings or uninstall or reinstall of firefox it just does the same thing its never happened before why now?

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

See "basic troubleshooting: a new profile:

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "tools > Modules > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If this new profile works then you can transfer files from the old profile to the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

    Hello Cosmicbbb,

Thank you for your message.  If you want to withdraw your option set to the option "Turn off computer", you can make the following registry edit.
Click Start > click Run > type regedit and press "Enter."
    Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ACPI\Parameters.
Right-click in the empty space in the right pane and select new | DWORD value.
    Attribute value name
    Then, double-click attributes
Make sure hexadecimal is selected by breaking 70
Click OK, close the registry editor and restart.
Now when you choose to stop the computer in the start menu in XP, you will not be able to choose the day before by accident.
Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk.
Please let us know if it did or did not help to solve your problem.
    See you soon
