I would like to do a manual cleaning the contacts on the cartridge and the printer to make sure the accumulation was not the reason that one receives this error message.   Here a link to a document that addresses the mistakes of rejection of cartridge for your printer model. I know that some of the measures listed are those that you mentioned to try in your original post.  But this document contains the instruction manual that one needs to follow correctly in order to clean the contacts of the cleaning cartridge.

If still the issue after cleaning, I would like to do a hard reset to try to clear the error message and return the printer to a known working state.  No user settings are lost by performing a hard reset. To do a hard reset:

    1. with the printer plugged directly into a wall outlet and turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.

2 then unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  • Printer error: remove and check cartridge on the right

One morning, beautiful (not so) my HP Photosmart 2610 printer showed this error on the screen. Since I can't print, scan, fax or copy. I removed the cartridge on the right, as shown in the error, but it looked very nice. Electronic contacts on the ink and the printer are visibly clean and Unscratched, the small metal lever is intact. The printer is out of warranty. Can you think of anything I can do to solve the problem? Or is this printer quite well not worth fixing at this point?

    Hi Emac8888,

If you use new HP OEM cartridges and you get error messages when you try to install there is a good chance that the copper on the print media contacts are dirty or has a damaged become because of this error message. I'm not suggesting to try more than a new cartridge if you get the same error message. Do the age of this 2610 printer that you can upgrade to a new printer. Below, I have included a few documents that should help you to isolate the problem on your printer. If you find that the printer is the cause of the error message, I can help you get an upgrade to a new printer. Let me know what you find?

  • Error 'Remove and check cartridge _' persistent.

Hello, my problem is with an old G86 OfficeJet all-in-one. I don't know exactly when I got it, but it was somewhere in the range from 2004-2006. In any case, the problem is that I get many read errors, "remove and check cartridge. _. I left a vacuum there because the error is variable. Sometimes it says color; Sometimes he says black. The first time I got the error, they say color. Initially, my response has been to remove both cartridges and re - install. This had no effect. Then I tried the cyclical food printer. Once again, no effect. I continued to try this: remove the cartridges and resettlement. Finally the message passed to 'color' to the 'black', but it was not very reassuring... After what appeared to be a cycle with no end of trials and errors (and 'colour' and 'black'), I went on the internet and found this page:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/bpa00299

I tried everything listed there: I cleaned the contacts on the cartridge, I cleaned the contacts on the printer, I re-installed the cartridges and power to bike over and over again... And the only thing that changes all the time was whether the error saying 'black' or 'color', as if it was me taunts in the most irritating way imaginable. What else is left for me to try? Finally, I must turn off this printer to pasture? He is old enough.

Maybe, it is worth noting that I completed my cartridges recently at Costco. Both are far from empty, and I used them to print correctly since they were filled.

    Hello there PhilSchifley

I read your post on ink cartridge issues you have. You had posted the exact troubleshooting guide that I would have recommended for you as well. At this point, if there is still a problem you are having, I would say the HP call directly to see what are your options with them.

  • PSC 2210 remove and check cartridge

I bought this printer on eBay and when it arrived I installed the cartridges and received this message "remove and check cartridge". I removed and cleaned the cartridges as specified on the HP website. I also installed well known cartridges of an another PSC 2210, without success.

The seller assures me that it worked before its release.

I fixed it. There's a paw to spring in the cartridge holding mechanism and it broke to the left side. I was able to scavange the part from a printer of donors and I is no longer the message "remove and check cartridge".  He now faces a problem in the process of cartridge align, but I will address that in another thread. Thank you.

  • error Officejet 6110xi Remove and check cartridge

I was in the middle of printing and the message remove and check cartridge came. the cartridges are fairly new, and that was before printing.  I checked and cleaned the cartridge, but I still receive the message.  I have windows 7, so I can't check the ink level.  What can I do else.

  • PSC 2110 error message: "remove and check cartridge".

I had a PSC 2110 all-in-one for several years with excellent service when he suddenly showed 3 flashing green lights and displays the error message: "Remove and check cartridge."

I looked away from this error message, but does not know what it means or how to delete it.

Cartridges are feeling 'heavy', indicating that they are not empty.  Black print quality and color was normal.

I removed and cleaned the cartridges. The flashing lights and the error message remains.

Someone knows what does this error message mean and how to solve the problem?

    Thank you.

Try to remove the offending cartridge and clean the contacts of the cartridge as shown in Figure 7 of the document here.

  • PSC 2410xi all-in-one: check cartridge error messages

My printer started recently flashing error message saying "check and delete (I think) of print cartridges. When I take out them and put back them in the error message disappears, but returns in a day or two. So I replaced the cartridges ($90) and am still having the same problem. I'm lucky that I can still get to print, but I'm worried.   I didn't clean the cotacts of the printer on the computer because I do not see how to do it yet, but I read through old messages on this problem but can't see where a solution has been found...

Does anyone know of this problem being solved far from being a new printer?

    Hi dongig,

Is this a new cartridge HP OEM or revised?

You have another cartridge installed in the printer?

Clean the face of the cartridge and the electrical contacts on the back of the print carriage.
  • Remove and check cartridge screen remains and all the buttons will Flash.

Remove the cartridge and check led displays and flashes.  I installed new cartridges and the same message appears on my

HP PSC 2175.  I ran the HP Diagnostics and it found no errors with the printer. I went through the proposed HP fixed but who still have the same problem.

I had the same problem, I tried to reset with #6 or #3, cleaning.

What worked for me (I bought a new printer but it send back now that mine works ;-))

1 - while the printer is on, go to orders "Mfg".

(on my printer I had to press on "*" and "#", others will have to press the arrows left and right, etc..)

    2. you get the message if poster 'Enter special key combination', then enter '123 '.

3 - Press the right arrow until you find 'Special reports', click OK

4 - Press the right arrow until you find "Print cartridges", click OK

  • Error: Remove and check cartridge on the right

I have removed the right cartiridge and check it, but the error message will not go away?

I have tried putting in a differnet cartridge yet.

    Suggestions?

It's the black and white cartridge.

Start by following the steps of troubleshooting here.  If the printer contacts and the cleaning cartridge does not resolve the question, and then check the spring as shown on this page.  If the spring is dislodged (1), you will have to fix the printer.  If the spring is dislodged, but did not damage the flex circuits (2) and then some have reported success with the spring in place.

  • Photosmart 2410 PCS - remove and check cartridges

I have a PC 2410 photosmart all-in-one opportunity. There the error: "remove and check print cartridges.

I replaced the cartridges. I cleaned the contacts. I removed the cartridges, stop the printer, rebooted and replaced the cartirdges and STILL have the same error. I see a lot of toner on the floor of the unit and it does not appear that the owner of the ink will move.

Troubleshooting techniques out there who could help but throw it out my window?

    Thank you in advance.

Jessica B. of Salem in Oregon

OK, a few other things to check.  First of all, it is normal that there is ink in the area of the gas station.  I would avoid any temptation to clean this area, as this may damage the printer.

It is possible that the spring that holds the cartridge on the side became dislodged as shown in this post.  Delete regardless of the printer cartridge complains and look at the spring on the right side of the chute.  Is correctly in position?  It can help to compare in spring on this slot with that of the adjacent location.  If the spring is out of position, it would be possible to put in place and fix it with hot or epoxy glue.  If the flex circuits has been pierced you will need a replacement printer.

  • Remove and check cartridge on the right.

I got the message from the object on my OfficeJet 7410 screen yesterday and have not been able to use a serving any of the all-in-one, or cancel the error message since then.  I removed and checked both cartridges and turned the power market by pulling on the power cord.  Flex circuits are clean and in good condition, the springs are intact and the cartridge contacts are clean and in good condition.  It does not seem logical that this error message would be displayed due to an empty ink cartridge, but someone who could confirm that?  This printer/fax is an essential piece of equipment in a small company, so I only buy a new HP ink cartridges.  Because these cartridges are expensive, it is not cost-effective to try a replacement of the cartridge "to see if it works.  As my laser printer is towards the end of life, if the OfficeJet is at the "end of support", I'd be more inclined to replace two printers with the one not made by HP.  Any suggestions of HP MVP or equivalent to fix my error?

Okay, I need to read titles, not just the body :-).  Printer complains about the black cartridge, first remove this one.  If the color cartridge is empty, it will be difficult to determine if it prints correctly, but if she goes through the motions then assumed it was OK.  For a cheaper test, you can try using 98/95 for a replacement cartridges rather than of the larger (and more expensive, but less expensive cost per page) 96/97.  [Number of cartridge can be different in your area.]
