Check the configuration of Redo Log Archives to

DB version: 10 gr 2, 11 2 GR
Version of the operating system: Solaris 5.10, AIX 6.1

While allowing for a DB from Production 2 node RAC, I made a mistake specifying LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST (a typing error).

After I brought the DB to the top (open) after you have enabled archiving, I tested the journal using switching
SQL> alter system switch logfile;

System altered
and had no error.

Later, I realized, archiving does not work. But I wonder, why I have no error for
SQL> alter system switch logfile;
Errors may have been recorded in the log of alerts. Since then I have no error from sqlplus to the command above, I thought everything was fine.

But the following command triggered error.
SQL> ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT;
ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-16038: log 4 sequence# 127 cannot be archived
ORA-00254: error in archive control string ''
ORA-00312: online log 4 thread 2: '+LTMPROD_DATA/LTMPROD/redo04.log'

Should what command I use to ensure that activation of Archive was successful?

ALWAYS... After putting data in ARCHIVE MODE, you must force the newspaper archive database.

SQL > ARCHIVE LOG LIST; # To check status

SQL > ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT; # This command must be executed sucessfull.

Query V$ARCHIVE_LOG or use RMAN to check path/location of ARCHIVELOG. 

$ rman target /
RMAN > LIST ARCHIVELOG ALL; 

Use ARCHIVE LOG SWITCH LOGFILE command to force again them to archive the disk, because they have a slight difference.

JOURNAL of ARCHIVING is synchronous, this command waits until the online redo log has completed writing the log file again the file system, if again is not archived error is thrown on command prompt.

SWITCH LOGFILE is asynchronous, this command start only switch / archive run in the background if ARCH process cannot finish writing the archivelog directory on file the error not returned not invite since he was released.

    We are facing problem in OBIEE administration tool while creating the new repository by selecting the data source as Essbase. And also, we shared the document that contains the steps made by us to solve this problem.


    Question in the selection of Data Source as Essbase

    While creating the new repository in the administration tool by selecting the data source such as Essbase, the following error occurs.

    "Admintool cannot load driver Essbase. Please check the configuration.

    Brief description of our environment

    In our scenario, BI Server running under Linux and running in Windows administrative tool.

    The work done in the Windows Machine (administration tool)

    1. 1. set the Variable of environment PATH and ESSBASEPATH as 'C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseClient'
    2. Adding information ESSBASE to bi - init.cmd
      1. File located in "C:\Program Files\Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Plus customer Tools\oraclebi\orahome\bifoundation\server\bin"
      2. (b) define as 'C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\ products\Essbase\EssbaseClient' ESSBASEPATH
      3. c. set the path as %ESSBASEPATH%\bin;%PATH%
      4. Save and close the file.

    The work done in Linux Server (BI)

    1. Change the .bash_profile to export values of the variables in the path and ESSBASEPATH,
      1. a. export ESSBASEPATH = / app/oracle/poet/Oracle_BI1/clents/epm/Essbase/EssbaseRTC

    Keep "simple" things, you have a 64-bit Windows, just install a client of Essbase 64-bit...

    Go to delivery under the "Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System" product packaging, download only the 'EPM system release 11.X.X.X.0 Client Installers' and there inside, you have the Essbase client (it's a bit silly that you need to download a file of 2 GB for just the small Essbase client, but this is the best place I found to always get a good record). Install it, then point the mailed earlier to the right path environment variable.

    I did and it worked by himself in all my Windows 64-bit.

    Use of the 32-bit clients on 64 bit OS what you always end with questions because of the default path pointing 64-bit slots and so things are missing or you have a mix of 64 and 32-bit.

    (I guess that's not important if you choose 11.1.2.4, 11.1.2.2 or 11.1.2.3, they work I would say, but if I'm not mistaken the Essbase installed by OBIEE is more 11.1.2.2...) For you, it isn't. (2.4)

    There were multiple causes for the same problem, namely:
    (1) no valid address according to the Vertex - resolution here would be to find the name of the alias of the city for the Zip code (Google, zip - codes.com, etc.) and use it. You should see the result immediately.

    (2) Texas or Forida addresses where there is no link - often we see that there are multiple records in vertex for the city, and it generates an error. Here the safest option is to perform the encryption of the geography of vertices for these combinations and then update the same in Oracle as the substitution of GeographyCode (default value = "77000000") to remove vertex call. Alternatively, we can create a type AR Txn with the Classification of taxes as 'No' and then linking to a new order Type. Any order with this type of order will not call vertex.

    (3) military addresses - resolution is the same as 2 above.

    I have a Scalar i500 on a Linux host attached via fibre channel. I accept all work to automatically mount the drive. I can't make it work.

    I can use the web interface of the i500 and then put a tape in the drive. I can then mount the drive from a secure backup and mount a back very well. Yet, I can not run a backup without a mounted tape. If I choose "load Volume (by car)...." I get the error ' cannot run the command - drive did not come online; check the configuration/hardware.

    I can the inventory of the library and do anything except automount readers. I run an audit and configuration back with no errors. I tried to use the SCSI settings in the obl0 and obt0 and obt2 without success. I tried to use the/dev/sg raw without success paths. Same mistake.

    It is an upgrade from 10.1 to 10.3 installation. I tried to do a clean install with the same question. I've restored the installation and then run an upgrade with the same question.

    I'm stuck. Please help :)

    It seems you have the DTE is exchanged.

    Swap the DTE # assigned to objects device disk and try again. This could happen during an upgrade if you reassigned the scsi settings and features obt0 and obt1 swapped the scsi settings when they ran the last things.

    I have a dowstreams that has four groups of log roll forward pending. one of these groups is always in a redo of the day 23/04/2010. This former roll forward is not filed, always there.
    This implies that the endorsements of the database are working with three groups of redo log and some oacaciones all that is in the active State and at this time that the view v $ archived_dest returns the error for that destination (natural).

    the question is:

    How can I eliminate this newspaper waiting for redo which is more archived.

    I'm testing a disk failure scenario.  I had recovery multiplexes on three sites (Windows drive letters) logs; one of the three locations also contained the data files.  I deleted the Windows player that contained data files and saw a restoring with RMAN.   All is well except that redo log members who are found on the occult Windows disk are of course still missing; the database opens, etc., but puts messages like this in the ALERT.log:

    ORA-00321: log thread 2 1, cannot update log file header
    ORA-00312: wire 2 1 online journal: ' F:\APP\NGORA12CR2SRV\ORADATA\ORATEST5\ONLINELOG\O1_MF_2_BW4B5MY0_. JOURNAL"


    What is the 'right' way to replace missing limbs?  Just get all the new groups of newspapers with new members on all three discs?  Carefully copy the LOG files representing missing members of one of the other sites?  I add new members at this location and remove existing members (missing)?


    Is how important it?

    Sorry if this topic will cover many, but browsing the forums I found some conflicting info and thought that it easier to ask you if I had it correct.

    I'm ready to virtualize our Active Directory environment and put all our virtual machines RODCs.  We have an environment with 8 ESX hosts and vCenter 4.1.  Most VMs are Windows member servers, but also several RHEL servers and a few non-domaine joined Windows servers.  We have also two domain controllers that are already virtual machines.  I'm down to the last physical domain controller which is our role PDC FSMO server so the Master Timekeeper.

    That's how I was going to change our Setup for the services of time with all being virtual domain controllers.

    1. the virtual FSMO PDC of our clocks of field it is time via w32tm to an external time such as us.pool.ntp.org source. That's the only DC with an external time source.
    2. all the domain joined machines Windows, whether virtual or physical (servers and clients OS) get their time via the domain controllers.  PDC-> all the other DCs-> clients and member servers.  On VMS, we do not use VMTools do a time synchronization. Throughout the normal Windows AD process.
    3. all ESX hosts serve time source external PDC, described above.
    4. all the non-domaine attached (Windows or Linux) machines that are virtual machines get their time synchronization via the VMTools Sync feature.
    Have I not my correct thought and not its ok to ensure synchronization of time between the field in a virtualized ad environment?

    That sounds about right, and I've implemented almost identical to this designs. The key is, as you say, do not sync using the time host via VMware Tools, in particular on the role of the PDCe.

    I also usually use this method to ensure that the PDC (role 5) is the only way to an external time source:

    I have this vswitch groups of two ports, one for vmk1 vmotion and the other for management vmk0.

    Tab grouping the vmotion port group NIC I specify vmnic10 as an active adapter and vmnic0 as before with backspace set to no.

    On the NIC teaming tab management port network group I do the opposite, vmnic10 is in standby and vmnic0 is active, but with BACKSPACE value again.

    What I am ultimately confused by vswitch NIC teaming tab configuration is two adapters program active since they are each active for a group of different ports this vswitch? and should restore the value not in this tab as well?

    The first thing I noticed: you use the same subnet for your management and vmotion traffic.

    Use VLANs and put on separate segments (vMotion traffic is not encryted).

    OEM Java based client that ships with Oracle 9i or oracle 10g client can show you if the streams replication is configured. If you have the OEM or OEM database control, tab 'data movement' has a 'flow' section which will also tell you if the streams replication is configured. Mark the following tables will also help you find it.

    When I check the size of redo log = 50 M, while in the old database oracle 10 g 2 (no CARS), the size of redo log = 150 M.

    So, I want to know if I should increase our redo log in our Oracle RAC database, or not?

    Should be again small use connect oracle RAC, oracle RAC without difference?

    No matter the size, it is recommended to use at least 3 groups of newspapers by thread. This is particularly important if the archive log mode is activated.
