Chip card readers

I have a smart card reader already built into my computer. When I had windows xp it worked fine. When XP went on the road and I started having problems with it, I load Windows 7 Professional on the computer. Now my smart card readers do not work and I already tried to download the drivers for it. I also tried turning the plug and play and turn it back on. It is not just acknowledge the readers. Someone at - it suggestions?

Hello Joanna,

Thanks for posting your question on the Forum of the Microsoft community.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the issue.

  1. What is the brand and model of your computer?
  2. As you mentioned that the card reader is integrated, so what is the brand and model of your computer?

If your smart card reader does not work on Windows 7 was working fine on Windows XP, this means that the problem is with the drivers. Then I suggest you to update the drivers from the link provided below and see if it helps.

  • Card readers are not seen: Causes?

I'm pretty familiar with my XP computer and just realized that some card readers do not recognize yet, others do. This could be related to a problem I have where my camera is not being seen.

The best guide of services I know is here--> http://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/

Choose your version of Windows and have a look.

You use something close to, if it is more extreme, 'Configuration of Bare Bones' and many things does not work... but none of the services 'Disabled' in this list appears as if it would be related to your problem.  Try to use 'Safe' or 'Tweaked' configurations of services BV and see if the card reader functionality returns.

In addition to Windows services, you have a number of services to third party as well.  If you're going to turn them off, you might consider simply uninstall the software in need of these services.  The most obvious of them is iTunes.  See http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204313

As I wrote earlier, card readers lack.  Unless you have checked on another computer, the fact that you have used for years is not proof that it is still functional.

SD 2 GB card > are SDHC cards or 'high capacity '.  In addition to patches which are in sp3, you need a card reader can read SDHC cards.  Assuming that you are talking about card readers that are integrated with computers, one of the computers is probably older than the other.

  • No employee of Gov using the 'PIV card' readers?

    Greetings-

I know there are many Govt employees here who have been allowed to "Teleworking" from home and use their personally owned equipment (POE) versus having a portable Govt assigned to them - that would result by using a card reader so that they could use their PIV card to plug into a USB port it.

However, those of use with any Mac / Apple products as our equipment challenge readers of cards Govt NOT recognized on our devices to Mac, so we (in my Govt organization anyway) must use what is called "MobilePass chips" that are obtained from an application downloaded from our App Store. They are used with our normal Login User Id and password too.

BTW-I use a Citrix / CAG VPN to access the Gov Agency (not classified of course!) and prefer to use the PIV player.

My question is: is anyone know of any material that can be used to read these cards PIV - or software to allow a card reader external to be recognized in a device of Mac in order to read a PIV for this system of "Double authentication?

NOTE: I know some out there to read "CAC" cards, but these are NOT the same as people "PIV" cards.

(I tried this way already) * also - if posted in the wrong forum - please move if necessary because I didn't know where. Thank you.

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - Device Manager - Display Adapter - note the brand and complete model of your

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - tab drivers version you install actually shows up. This

  • Chip card reader

I have a new T410 that has a smart card reader.  I don't have any smart cards and don't really know much about them.  I like the idea of using a smart card for increased security.

    Advice greatly appreciated.

All ISO 7816 compatible card would work. The ACOS5 64 / 72KB PKI card looks like a good one to get, seems to be designed for exactly this purpose. I think that you can configure the card with ThinkVantage Client Security Solution, I'm not positive but since my T510 is still waiting on customs.

EDIT: I just found a list of supported cards chip on the Lenovo web site. I don't know if this list is up to date.

    Types of smartcards suported

Due to system requirements, Softex only smart cards are supported by this middleware. This version supports the cards following smart:

    • G & D Smartcafé 64K (PRO/PKI)
    • OmniPass 72K (PRO/PKI)
    • JCOP 72K (PRO/PKI)
  • Dual display chips/cards - why?

That's my education only. I see many mfgrs. using both an Intel HD display chip and an nVidia or AMD/smart card. I also see this configuration causing problems with certain Adobe products. My question is, why do double/card configuration smart? For what purposes?

Switchable NVIDIA Graphics version is called 'Optimus '. Basically, it works like this the NVIDIA autour drivers sit and wait for an application that use the GPU. Then once an application request 'help' or sending a call siginal for NVIDIA drivers, he wakes up and starts making the required elements. This basically saved way work the battery life as John mentioned and in many cases allows to save a bit of autonomy.

    Hello

If the card reader is compatible with memory card, then Yes, it should work (corner of the scenarios he can't).

  • Memory card readers do not show in Windows 7

I just upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 and now I can't view memory card reader drives in Manager of devices or Windows Explorer. Also one of CD burners two (one that isn't R - W) does not appear. I tried the HP site for downloads without result. What should I do to regain the use of these devices? I have the original system recovery disks; I get them from? They are compatible with Windows 7?

    Not a problem, Willie.

To some people would say you downgraded for Win 7, but I completely agree that you upgraded.  The problem is exactly what you are experiencing.  Among the components of Vista cannot function probperly with Win 7.

Here's what I want you to try:

First of all, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

    1. click on the 'Start' button, enter "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) in the "Search" bar and press "Enter." If necessary, click on "continue".

    2. in Device Manager, double-click to expand the "USB Bus controllers", right click on the controller host, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

    3. Repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.

Please click on "BRAVO", if I helped you and click on "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.

  • camera card readers

My Pavillion Elite cannot read the memory card from my digital camera from Canon.  It doesn't matter if I use the provided by Canon or the SD/MMC slot USB card reader built into the computer.  I have no problem loading the pictures of my old Olympus via the old fashioned the USB cable.  What gives?

Hello Katusha, here is a link to Amazon that shows some criticism for your card reader. Many users don't give good reviews this card reader. It seems that this card reader costs less than $5,00 USD, it might not be very good at this price there.

Since it is a USB plug, no driver should be necessary that the drivers already installed for the USB ports, which would be included in the chipset driver package.

Wb2001 suggested, the best way to download pictures from a camera would be via a USB cable connected from the camera and connected to a USB port on the computer.

I suggest looking for a compatible USB cable for Canon camera, which would connect to the USB port on your computer. It would be the best and fastest in the long term.
