CHKDSK hangs in Windows XP

My pc backup at startup, it is said that he must run chkdsk.  If I let it continue or stop otherwise it and run chkdsk once it is started, chkdsk is suspended in part 2.
I have no files of interest on this pc, but I would like to continue to use it to watch the video... without this inconvenience.

Is there a simple way to get around this?  Long I bought this pc opportunity, so I have no system disk and I'm pretty lazy.  I also wonder why the hell a program managed to get errors hangs on what I assume is a mistake.  I mean, decades ago, I wrote a utility disk, check not for Windows, and I was smart enough to code this possibility then.

Hello Trudyjh,

Thank you for your message.  I would first go to the website of the manufacturer of your hard drive and download their utility to check for errors on the hard drive to verify that your drive hard not disappeared or is not bad.  Subsequently, we can troubleshoot further.  Please let us know the results so that we can help you further.
We can't wait to hear back on your part.
See you soon

2 change the RAM and HARD drive, but the problem was there even if the problem wasn't their share.

    Hello Walids

I have to be honest to you; your troubleshooting is very impressive, but you forgot to check the HARD disk. It is possible that the HARD disk do a few worries. If possible try to test the HARD drive with a tool, and see if there may be some bad sector or something.

I had similar problem on my old Satellite. The laptop was slower and slower. I also noticed a little strange to his HARD drive.

Just try to test the HARD drive. If everything is ok, I guess that you need professional help on this.

Good luck and let us know if find you the solution.

  • Pavilion dv7 hangs on windows start screen

    Hi all

This problem started a few days after I bought this computer in June, and I have tried everything I can think of including the factory restore and nothing has helped. I really don't want to return it because I really like it, but I can't stand this problem starting. I bought this one after I returned a dv6 for a power supply problem, it would not turn on at all after I had it for only a few weeks.

When the laptop is turned on it starts and then freezes on windows start screen. It takes a few other tests of the switch, tool repair, before I can get it to come. The repair tool is useless for this problem. In this process, I also end up with BSOD and stop errors. The error that appears now is 0 X 00009086. I will use no more restore because it isn't helped either.

A computer brand new, not even a month and he has this major problem. I've read other articles published on the dv7 and have not found anything else to try.

    Windows 7 home.

I would appreciate any ideas to try before I end up taking it back too.  Don't bode well for buying another HP again that's for sure.

    Hello

I had already tried the first two options and they did not help.

When I tried the 3rd option gave you the process stopped at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\classpnp.sys.  I looked into this and found it to be a problem in Vista too. I have read through the postings for this but haven't tried anything yet.

BSOD Stop error message... 9086 is associated with this start hang up.

I move from the Intel site and ran their audit tool then update the HM65 Chipset. This had no effect on the victory starts page suspended.

I ran sfc and he found no violation of integrity.

I was leaving my laptop because it is easier then trying to make it work again properly now 4-5 tries to make it work. It aggravates really me that I have this problem with a new computer.

    I try next?

Thank you for your help on this.

    Louise

  • When I started my computer this morning, it ran chkdsk at startup, windows startup it goes immediately to chkdsk, it will be repeated again and again. I can boot into safe mode, but if I try to start windows normally it runs chkdsk and does not start

Windows does not start normally, just run chkdsk again and again

First test the hard drive to make sure it's healthy. Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr. or use SeaTools for BACK of Seagate. You create a bootable CD with the files you download. You will need a third party burning software to do as the free ImgBurn, Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data.

    http://www.ImgBurn.com

    http://www.Seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/SeaTools/seatooldreg
    http://Seagate.custkb.com/Seagate/CRM/selfservice/search.jsp?docid=201271 (how-to)

Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. The physical tests fail, replace it.

If the hard drive then passes the physical tests, safe mode:
Start > run > cmd [Enter]
fsutil dirty query c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

This will tell you if the disc is dirty or not. Then always in cmd:

chkntfs /x c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

This tells Windows not not to check this drive at startup. Reboot and it should go on the desktop. Once Windows loaded, run cmd and:

Chkdsk /f /r c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

CHKDSK will run through all 5 steps. After that it's over, always in cmd:

fsutil dirty query c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

to see that the dirty bit is not set on this drive.

  • XFX nVidia GeForce 6200 256 MB hangs on Windows 7

Hello my name is Ricardo and I'm having some trouble with the XFX nVidia GeForce 6200 256 MB graphics card when running Windows 7 in. The computer seems to hang after a certain time, or when you try to play a video file. There is no error message, it just hangs. The first symptom is a weak performance in the response of the mouse, the cursor moves too slowly across the screen. Then the screen blinks twice and remains with striped and jacquard everywhere. Finally, the screen goes black. Sometimes, if the failure is not too severe, my Office updates and wrote a message pop up: driver nVidia Geforce 197... has stopped working.

I checked, the microsoft Web site, and he says the nVidia Geforce 6200 256 MB is fully compatible with Windows 7. I also tried different drivers, installation of the own driver and even the manufacturer of the card could not give me a solution to my problem.

    My specs are:

    AMD Sempron 2600 + mhZ

    1 GB OF DDR400 RAM

    180 GB SATA HDD

    nVidia Geforce 6200 256 MB

Card mother PC CHIPS A31G V1.0

(I've updated the system BIOS, drivers of all other devices are thus updated)

    HI Ricar2009,

    Thank you for your message.

"When I use the Microsoft WDDM drivers by default, aero experience is much better, virtually free of frost.

When the Compatibility Center says it's OK, he also said that no other software is required. In other words, that it is Plug-and-Play.

Using the custom driver NVIDIA seems to pose a few problems, because they may be in conflict with another program.

I suggest to perform a clean boot to see if a startup program can cause the problem.

What size power supply do you use?

The only Gig of RAM can definitely cause this issue when using the resource intensive applications.

The RAM has write back on the hard disk, resulting in delays enough highlight the video card driver as it tries to buffer videos, games, etc.

This would also explain the slowdown in the mouse, because the computer is stumbling to cope.

Start up programs running in the background and can devour huge amounts of resources.

Programs may sometimes have memory leaks that cause this as well.

I suggest upgrading your RAM, if possible, if the clean boot does not help.

  • Frequently hangs in windows SP1

Hello! I just built a new PC AMD: care as follows:

    Radeon R9 DD 280/3 GB
    EVo 250 GB ssd Samsung
    DVD burner
    ESD-wrist for anti-static

The problem is inside windows, once I installed W7 SP1 in my system, ive had periodically hang ups, they last usually for 45 seconds. Disc Ive runned auditor, auditor of ram, cpu checker, started in safe mode, it didn't hang there, though even I was not in safe mode for a very long time well. I have also disabled all the services that doesent need to be enabled, disabled UAC, went into msconfig, using normal startup items.

The error usually begin when I have many open application, but can also appear when I 0 open applications. No keyboard key work, only a hard reset works on the PC... I suggest software problem. Because when I go into the Task Manager there is usually more than process when kicked in the shot and then radically down when the computer is back...

    NB! ***
-Ive lost my SSD in the soil before I built the PC.
-I can still play games 24/7 without a gel

It feels like is that I have ge inside windows errors. Have tried with every update, + the fix for freezing of the SP1 of windows. Nothing works so far. Help!

All drivers up to date, except for the update of the bios because I can't update bios, something goes wrong and I can't update the bios.

Just a reminder, this error doesent appear often, it happens rarely, maybe 2 times a day.

Suffice to say if you need any error report logs, etc.. And I'll add them. Just explain how to make the newspapers.

  • Install hangs on Windows XP flag

I'm trying to install the all-in-one software for a PSC 1350 on our two PCs, which are be HP pavilions with XP SP3. On my PC the things went perfectly using the last downloaded package. But on my wife's PC Setup hangs systematically at an early stage where the window is said "Global Progress - installation step 3/4 of 5%" and "status - additional software installation.

I tried this several times using the original CD so the downloaded drivers. I also did some research and did a cleaning by using the procedure in "level 3 Uninstall" (L3_Uninstall.bat), but the installation crashes always.

I think it would be complete OK so I just installed the basic printer drivers, but then there is no software installed to make better use of the scanner. Is there any hope here? I'm rarely stumped by computer problems, so it becomes very frustrating.

Sorry, I should have looked before poster. The indication provided by DexterM (I think) to kill the process Wrapper.exe was the solution. As I was in the forum, my wife's PC had been sitting on the other office hung for about half an hour. I went to the wire and killed Wrapper.exe and the installation took immediately!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • Acrobat PDF printer hangs in Windows 8

Printer Hang.pngI am running Windows 8 Enterprise RTM 64 bit on a 3rd generation of Intel i7-3770 CPU, chipset Z77. I found that most of the PDF printers I've used on Windows 7 now hang on 8, including the printer Acrobat X (latest version). I found a free alternative that works very well, but I would go back to using the Acrobat printer. Adobe will release an update that resolves the blow?

Above is a screenshot of total more than ten minutes:

Got, it works. Here is the configuration in printer properties that just printed out OK in Word 2010 and CorelDraw X 6. Will have to try other programs:

The change was to make the final spooled print ONCE. (Hang by default start printing immediately?). In addition, this time I checked activate printing advanced features, that I had not tried before. (I had also turned on some features of IIS, but cannot see that would have been a factor).

Am really happy to get this resolved!

Windows 8.1 was delivered with the version of the downloadable 6.801.5.0 driver from Dell, I also tried and committed in my opinion the FW even hanging the question.

I'm afraid - anyone know what is happening?

    See you soon

    Chris

Appearantly this is related to the latest driver from Dell. I've found a workaround, but it's a bit complicated:

1 connect a USB stick which is big enough

    2. install Wndows 8.1 on the * USB drive *.

    3. start Windows, and then remove the current driver and install the previous driver for Windows Server 2012.

    4. use the 3rd party software (say that Ghost) to copy the windows from USB drive to VD on Dell PERC H710P controller.

    5. start Windows in the USB drive again and use 'bcdedit' to clean boot stuff

in any case, I'm LSI 9361-8i, so it won't be a problem for me in the future...

  • Hangs at Windows startup

    Product name: Folio 13-1008TU

"Problem: the computer crashes: windows startup" sceen for 3-4 minutes before moving on to the login screen. After that, it works normally. :

I tried to do a hard reset but it made no difference.

I ran the system diagnostics and the DST failed with the following default ID:

    U3XP64-5TD796-XD7V4K-60WQ03

Normally, the 'Starting Windows' screen would clearly after a few seconds and the login screen appears.

Despite the failure of the DST, I seem to be able to access the files from my drive C:, Internet access and use the computer normally, once the login screen appears. I also noticed the login screen finally appears shortly after the WiFi light on orange white F12 key changes.

Can someone help me diagnose this problem and propose a solution, bearing in mind that the hard reset does not solve the problem.

    Thank you

  • Visual Studio 2010 Express hangs after Windows Update

June 11, 2010, I have 19 updates from Windows Update for my Windows XP Home SP3 Swedish (exceptionally many using the computer every day). After I rebooted, Visual Studio 2010 Express crashed at startup saying "(défini par l'utilisateur point d'arrêt-un point d'arrêt dans une application indique erreur de programme)." Re - installation of VS) did not help. Being run/scannow CFS does not report a problem any. Run the program in WinDbg, the program stops at a breakpoint in ntdll.dll. However, if I then go into the debugger program seems to operate normally. Also authorized the virus program Norton Internet Security (NIS) fails on startup with breakpoint in ntdll.dll. This should indicate that there was a problem with ntdll.dll, but all the tests that I ran to the DLL files are all problems. Other programs on the computer seem to work normally, including AVG 9.0 free virus checker, I installed to compensate for the NIS. NIS experts spent several hours in my computer without finding the reason. All clever out there who can help me?

    The problem is solved!

I run the SDK Direct-X (latest version) in Debug mode and when I changed the retail fashion problems disappeared. Since there is no problem with Debug mode, before the updates of Windows, I guess that these updates were not compatible with debugging DLLs in the SDK. MS has probably forgotten to test in Debug mode or something. Instead however, annoying because the Debug mode is useful during the development of applications of DX.
