Choose to display thumbnails on a folder-folder in seven?

In Windows XP, I could choose what files could display images as thumbnails. Is it possible under Windows 7?

In Windows 7 Folder Options, I see an option to "Always show icons, never thumbnails" but this seems to be a global option - all or nothing.

Windows Explorer does not 'Thumbnails' offer as a display setting in any window.

In addition, when "Always show icons, never thumbnails" is checked, the preview pane of Windows Explorer displays the icon instead of a preview (even if the Windows Photo Viewer is my default Photo Viewer.)

RESOLVED:

Once more, the incomparable Ramesh Srinivasan (MS - MVP) comes to the rescue with a workaround.

In fact, it is not possible to display thumbnails on a folder by folder basis. (Why not, Microsoft?) However, it is possible to add thumbnails on or off in the menu, then the setting global always show icons, never thumbnails can be easily turned on and off.

original title: thumbnails not showing upward

For some reason any when I open a folder of images, it no longer displays thumbnail previews of the images. Instead, I get the generic pictures of a red & yellow flower or a lake and mountains. I did research online and found the problem, which was "Always show icons, never thumbnails" was checked in the control PANEL, OPTIONS of FOLDERS, thenVIEW. Once I found the problem, I disabled it and clicked on apply. But nothing. I restarted and it still does not display thumbnail previews. Last night for some reason, he began to build, but then stopped. So, although the "always show icons, never thumbnails" setting is not checked, it will still not display thumbnails. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you do a system restore and choose a date where you did NOT have this problem as your restore point?

    System Restore:
Start button > Search box, type system restore > press the Enter key > uac prompt > click on choose a different restore point > next > select dates as your restore point, until the click > next > finish
To sit and wait. The machine restarts when it's done.

Note: In most cases, do it in safe mode system restore is more preferable.
Here's how to get safe mode:

Shut down your computer > turn it back on and immediately and repeatedly tab key F8 until you see a black and white screen. The top/down arrow and select Safe Mode.

  • Photoshop CC continues to change my display settings of windows folder

Whenever I have save a PS file in a specific folder on my desktop, the display settings for this folder is reset to the default values.

For example, I like the vision on 'details' and sort in descending by "date modified" order (no 'date', which means that I have to uncheck the field 'date' and check the field "date modified" whenever that happens)

I opened and closed this file on my desk several times a day and the view remains the same, but as soon as I save a file out of PS and navigate to this folder from the backup dialog box, the display will return to "thumbnails" once again. which would be ok if it only showed that way while in the PS, but once that happens, it changes the view even when I open the folder on the desktop.

This does not happen with other programs, Psalm one, I use windows 7 pro 64-bit.

It is interesting to note that if I change the display inside registration settings dialog box, those changes do not appear when I open the desktop folder.

In addition, once I have make changes, PS will keep the settings for all subsequent save operations, even after the closing and reopening of the program. But once that I reboot I'm at square one.

Photoshop has no control over that. It's a BONE setting, and open/save are the OS (not really controlled by Photoshop) dialog boxes.

    Hi soren123,

    1. don't you make changes before the show?

We recommend that you press the SHIFT key and change the folder view settings. To do this, try the following steps:
    a. open the folder my pictures.
    b. press the SHIFT key, right-click the empty space in the folder my pictures and change the display settings.
    c. continue to change the display settings until you see the name of the file or folder.

  • In the detail view folder sizes. What Microsoft has to do not display a list of folder sizes in the detail view? I don't want to post this in the comments...

What Microsoft has to do not display a list of folder sizes in the detail view?  I want to just see my folders in the list view and know how big each folder is!  Is this a lot to ask?  Are you (MS) collusion with folder size software companies so that they can sell me something that should simply be in Details view? Is it because it could slow down my experience of 'Windows' that is not so great anyway.

I don't like what MS has to say.  This is not a plea (or tip) for them to fix. I just want to know why they avoided (5 180 000 results according to Google) millions of requests for this feature Microsoft Users: why do you think that Microsoft has deliberately chosen to omit a column of 'folder size' seen in the window?

    Yes :-)

In your previous post, someone suggested to search for the file "SnpCreateTreeview.jsx", because it would just be the asked.

The script can be found here, just accept the EULA and download the example scripts of Bridge CS3. (For some reason it is not in CS4 samples because as far as I know)

Here's a version with small changes, it is up to you to point the script in the folder 'root' right, because this is, needless to C: on PC:
