HP Pavilion G6: upgrade of the G6 from HP pavilion.

Hi all. I was wondering what components I could upgrade in my 6 GB of ram, 1.7 Ghz APU Pavilion G6. I need to upgrade my proccessor running at 90% only at the start and gave zero factory it but no difference in performance. Can anyone help?

G6-2241sa

As suspects, it is a processor AMD E2. Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

It's the motherboard you have and it IS one where the processor and the motherboard are one piece.

For use only with models of computers with processors AMD E2-1800 and Windows 8 Standard 697230-501

The class E2 of processors is very low, as you have noticed. They are more like a netbook or Tablet processor rather than something that you want to use for the calculation of the grave. You could help the situation by increasing the memory of 8 GB (maximum) to remove the module from 2 gig you have and its replacement by a 4 GB. You could also install an SSD. You would spend about $150 between these two updates and I'm not sure it's worth. You will notice an improvement however but from memory and faster storage cannot completely lift the load from the central unit that must be part of the job and yours is just not up to the task.

Your laptop computer case fit a half-bridge AMD or Intel motherboard but you would have to buy the motherboard and processor as well and that the cost will be well over $150 and are approaching the cost of a new phone.

You will probably need to install the drivers and software HP Vista, which should work as well on Windows 7.

GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS / 640MB or similar

    Fish, welcome to the forum.

Crysis - Warhead is a resource hog.  So I'm not surprised that you want to upgrade.

In smaller cases of average size, it is advisable to stay less than 9 "for the video card.  Anything longer will be questionable.  I like XFX, BFG, EVGA, Sapphire and PNY in that order.  The XFX card in the link I provided is perhaps not one you want to buy.  However, it is a good example of what to look for on a card for your computer.  I love ATI based cards because they have their Catalyst Control Panel software.  It allows you to adjust the fan speed and overclock the card if you wish.

Now for the power supply.  I love OCZ and Corsair.  Any standard ATX PSU must fit into the housing.  However, I always recommend measuring the PSU existing and comparing measures to whichever you choose.  The PSU is the backbone of the computer, I always recommend high quality maunufacturers.  Both cater to the enthusiast/gamer community.  Their products will provide a clean and stable power supply for your system.  Read the reviews from customers on all products.  Comments will give you the history directly on products without exaggeration of the manufacturer.

  • After the OS from Vista to Windows 7 upgrade, lost bookmarks. Could they be somewhere in "windows.old"?

    Hello

I upgraded my OS from Vista to Windows 7 and lost bookmarks, I had in Firefox. Back up my documents files and they are OK. Unfortunately, I don't think to back up my Firefox bookmarks.html file.

However, I did the upgrade of the operating system from the disk and a "windows.old" folder has been created which seems to have a lot of my old files, applications, and others, but I can't find "bookmarks.html" in the firefox folder or in my user folder.

Is there another place in windows.old where bookmarks could be, or a different file name, it may be under?

Please help, there are a few important bookmarks that I lost and which were accumulated over several years.

    Thank you!

Firefox has not used the file bookmarks.html for storage of bookmark since the release of Firefox 2. You need a JSON bookmark backup file or the file places.sqlite. See this:

    http://support.Mozilla.com/en-us/KB/recovering+important+data+from+an+old+profile

Your old profile is located here in Windows Vista and Win7:

    drive: \Users\Windows login user name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profile_name

You may need to display 'files and hidden folders' in Win7 to be able to access the Firefox profile in windows.old files and the new installation of the OS.

  • Pavilion p6150t: upgrade of the screw until the resolution of the monitor.

I just upgraded my p6150t (originally running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit) Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit using the upgrade disc provided by HP at the time of purchase. The upgrade went well, except that HP Update was no longer on the system after the upgrade. In the case the opposite (even without running upgrade HP), Win 7 works well.

However, I have a monitor Dell S2209W capable of running at a resolution of 1920 x 1200. With Vista, I could set my display at this resolution. However, with Windows 7, I can only set the resolution to 1280 x 800. I have the original disk for the Dell monitor, but it won't install the driver on this system with Win 7 (same result during the download of the latest version of the driver from the Dell Web site).

For Vista, the graphics driver on the HP site for this computer has been for NVIDIA GeForce 6210.  But for Windows 7, graphics drivers only listed for this computer is of course ATI unified (in addition to the Intel graphics) driver. As the original graphic card is not ATI, an updated NVIDIA driver would solve this problem?

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

    Thank you.

    Correction: it's Nvidia GEForce G210, NO 6210.

In addition, for Win Vista, both the unified ATI graphics card and the drivers for graphic card NVIDIA GeForce G210 are listed, but for Win 7, only the ATI driver is listed.

    Sorry for the confusion.

I understand that you are having problems of display resolution after the upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista. I'm happy to help you with this.

In response to your question, Yes, because it is a desktop computer you can try the driver directly from NVidia and test it.  You can also try to use the HP Support Assistant and see if she can find the updated or compatible drivers for your system hardware.

  • UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME during the upgrade to Windows 7 from Windows Vista

I'm getting an unmountable_boot_volume during the upgrade to Windows 7 from Windows Vista.  It occurs after Windows 7 software loads and restarts.  If I restart the computer, I have the option to start the upgrade to Windows 7 or Windows Vista.  If I select Windows Vista, the computer restarts without problem.  If I choose Windows 7 Upgrade, I get the blue screen of death with the unmountable_boot_volume error.  Of course, nothing wrong with the boot volume because Windows Vista starts without error.  The boot drive is 1.5 TB.  Any suggestions on how to accomplish the upgrade to Windows 7?

I run windows xp on HP Pavilion 750, in the past, I have not had a problem writing to the photos from my computer on disc.

It now written up so I get a message cannot keep any body can help please.

    original title: problem writing Photos...

I'm sorry, but I don't have a solution for you.  You can check the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK) to see if there are warnings next to your CD burner.  If there is a caution icon, double-click the entry and see what it says under "device status".

I don't know how you use picture & Fax Viewer to burn a CD.  The usual method, except if you have 3rd party CD burning software, is to use Windows Explorer.  This is what Windows XP Help & Support has to say on this topic:

To copy files and folders to a CD

    1. Insert a blank, writable CD into the CD burner.
    2. Open my computer.
    3. Click the files or folders to copy to the CD. To select multiple files, hold down the CTRL key while you click the files you want. Then, under file and folder tasks, click copy this file, copy this folder, or copy the selected items.

If the files are located in my pictures, under management of images, click copy to CD or copy all items to a CDand go to step 5.

    4. In the dialog box copy items , click the CD player record, and then click copy.
    5. In my computer, double-click the CD burner. Windows displays a temporary area where the files are held before they are copied to the CD. Verify that the files and folders you want to copy to the CD appear under files ready to be written on the CD.
    6. Under CD writing tasks, click write these files to CD. Windows displays the Assistant burn a CD. Follow the instructions in the wizard.

    Notes

    • To open my computer, click Startand then click my computer.
    • Do not copy more files to the CD that it will hold. Standard CD hold up to 650 megabytes (MB). Large capacity CD contain up to 850 MB.
    • Don't forget that you have enough disk space on your hard disk to store the temporary files that are created during the CD writing process. For a standard CD, Windows reserves up to 700 MB of available disk space. For a high-capacity CD, Windows reserves up to 1 gigabyte (GB) of the available free space.
    • After you copy files or folders to the CD, it is useful to view the CD to verify that the files are copied.

Hi Philofduluth and thanks for posting.

There is not a free upgrade for Media Center 2005. If this is something you would like to do, I contact your OEM manufacturer and ask if there is a software upgrade, they can provide you.

If you have all the updates that are available for your system go to http://update.microsoft.com . Here, you can see all the latest reviews and optional updates that may be available to you and make install.
