  If you have more than one alpha gradient coming to overlap another or that you are using an alpha mask, use cacheAsBitmap to these clips.

  I think I know your problem - are you using the opacity of the 'effects' rather than opacity to "fill" - one of the effects will affect the entire element rather than just the rectangle.

  Maybe I'm missing something basic here, as I am fairly new to play with alpha in VIDEO layers/channels. Otherwise, I have a pretty good understanding of the alpha when it comes to photos, animations, etc.ffects

  I'm doing the black in a video of a few flames in an alpha channel, so I can use them in the form of particles in After Effects.

  I understand the restrictions codec/format for alpha channels, but the problem is that I can't get the black to come out at all as an alpha channel.

  I have tried Quicktime with no codec and FLV and other formats that are supposed to support alpha channels.

  According to me, what is the problem is format that shoots in the Canon does not have an alpha channel in native mode to export the video in different formats is not having an effect. If this is the case, how should we do the dark parts of a video in an alpha channel.

  PP will never recognize black as an alpha channel.  You have to eliminate the black using the Luma key.  As long as it has nothing else underneath, which retired black will be encoded as an alpha transparency.

• Is there an easy way to change the Alpha in a textfield?

  As I understand it, you can change the alpha value of a textfield to be completely transparent.  I would like to have out cat that fades after a while.  I was wondering if there was a way to change just part of the string inside a transparent text field.  The textColor doesn't have an alpha value.  I could just use several text fields, but I would avoid it if possible for efficiency sake.  Anyone know if this is possible?

  You cannot use an alpha that is greater than 0 and less than 1 for only part of the text in a textfield.

  I exported a video using Final Cut Pro X with alpha channel using the ProRes4444 codec.

  I tested its alpha channel works & it works in FInal Cut Pro X, when I import it to Final Cut Pro X to test.

  However, when I make this file After Effects CS5, it cannot recognize the alpha channel because the transparent part are all black Uni.

  How can I make AE interpret the file as transparent ProRes4444 with alpha channel?

  Unfortunately, you need transcoding video to be "millions of colors +, ' where the + is the Alpha channel. As Steve mentions, is not a capacity of the machine of transcoding in the meadow. • Remove the alpha value of a pixel in PNG.

  What I want to do is to remove alpha/transparency of the pixel and restore its color.

  Imagine an image which has been fixed at 1% opacity and saved in PNG.

  Now I open this image (can't see a thing, but that's okay, I know its there).

  If I do Flatten Image, PS simply stitch it white color layer and the only way to work around that I have found is to keep two copies and layer to merge down.

  I don't need an action simply automate this routine of monkey, I'm intereted in something more elegant. Mmmm, the "right" way, so to speak.

  If you have CS5 then you can use the layer-> mask-> transparency

  I am trying to use a video from Digital Juice as my animated menu background, but the alpha channel is not recognized.  It shows the black color instead of transparency.  I am compiling in the form of Quicktime with Alpha movie.

  Lol you can use a background of movement or the background in the Menu of Photoshop, you can't use both. If you use a background of movement, the Photoshop Menu background is replaced by the video motion, and the buttons are rendered above it.
