Claiming ownership of a folder

I have trouble to get a game to load. The technicians of game says I should claim ownership of the file folder. How do I with Vista?

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.  To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, then click on the username of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if this isn't there - or maybe yourself - it doesn't have to be the person that you are logged in as but must not be connected as an admiistrator).  If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder (it's what you really want): http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.  Add appropriate right click menu (which will make it faster to get in once it is set up - I did the my system to simplify things in the future)), see the following article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

Normally, when a folder is created, the user name that created the file is registered as the owner - so if the game is eager to create a new folder I don't know why this step is necessary (unless it's one he wants ownership of and then you have to be careful because you don't want to compromise your security or yourself locked out from other programs with files in the same program follder).

Good luck and I hope this helps!

PS What is the game (name and version) and you have a reference for her web site?  If the above does not work, then maybe we can help more if we know more about the product (or refer you to experts who specialize in games for further assistance).

My sincere apologies for the disconnection. I tried the [email protected] records system and found no message to your e-mail address. Maybe the file is sent using a service or a different file sharing e-mail address? We sometimes receive files sharing services that provide no return e-mail address and who have no other information to link the invitation of sharing with a thread or a customer, then we are left with no way to reconnect with the customer.

I am personally much less active on the forums since the beginning of the year. My main role on Muse since always as a developer. I always spent a lot of my time and too much of my time here on the forum, in relation to work directly on the development of Muse. Since the beginning of the year, I redirect my development time. I am is more read each message or checking the traffic on a regular basis, forum so I don't see you last two messages so far.

If you send your current .muse file to [email protected], I'll see that it is repaired and returned timely. If you send a second message with no attachment directly to me, [email protected], I will confirm the receipt of the message to [email protected] .

If you need access to a file or a folder that you have no rights, you must take ownership of that file or folder. When you do so, you replace the security permissions that were initially created for the file or folder.

    Prerequisites
    Log on as an administrator

You must be running Windows as an administrator to change permissions of a file or folder security. If the computer is your personal computer, you are probably already logged on with an administrator account. If the computer is part of a network at work, you may have to ask the system administrator for help. To verify that you are connected to Windows with a user account is an administrator on the computer, see the Microsoft Web site at the following address:

Start Windows XP Home Edition in safe mode

If you run Windows XP Home Edition, you must start the computer in safe mode, and then log on with an account with administrative rights in order to access the Security tab the Security tab access is necessary to change the security permissions. If you are running Windows XP Professional, you don't have to start the computer in safe mode. • Win XP: Remove the 'System' of the 'My Documents' folder attribute

Win XP: The 'My Documents' folder contains an attribute of the system. Now, I can't save file there. How can I remove the attribute "system"?

If you look at the security for 'My Documents' tab, you will see that the system has access to the file, but it should not have attribute on the file system.

Access special permissions and see who is the owner of the folder. It should be yourself. If this isn't the case, you may need to take ownership of the folder to get access.

    I hope this helps.

  • Owner-opening documents folder

When I click on the owner-Document folder, the folder opens and I see the files.  The green bar goes from left to right in the upper task bar.  When it becomes very close to the right, the program loops. CTRL/ALT/DEL and ESC does not work.  Stop down and restarting is the only solution.  If I try to click on My Documents, it says that I must be an administrator, but I'm logged on as administrator.  When I create documents it saves to the Document owner very well, but I can't open the file.

I have no recent changes to the system.  No matter how to open the file, the result is always the same.

  • Do not have the permission to a folder, but I am the admin. (win7)

Hey, I get these errors when you try to copy into the folder D:\Program Files 2 and if I try to delete anything from him, he said 'you must be authorized to perform this action. " Even though I am the administrator of the computer it still doesn't let me copy/delete the files it contains.

I tried to use the Take Ownership reg. authorization, but when I try to take ownership on this folder, in the CMD window, it says "SUCCESS: the file or the folder D:\Program Files 2 is now owned by RAYHAN-PC ' but underneath it just says:" INFO: access denied. "< d:\program="" files="">

and I still can't edit the program files 2.

One thing I noticed, is that subfolders inside Program Files 2 gives the full control permission to the admin, but not the user. And if I try to click on the Security tab in the folder properties window, he says "the permissions on are misclassified, which can cause some ineffective entries" and I can't change the permission settings. It says I need to reorganize the permissions, but if I try to reorganize and give full control to USERS, he said only: "access denied".

I tried Googling for answers, but nothing helped.

    Could this be a virus?

Can someone help me with this? Thank you in advance if

    Hi Ray,

Screenshots as soon as you have provided and since the last post you made, it seems to me that AVG is installed in the D drive on the computer and it runs in the computer. As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, if you have any program installed in this folder in the D drive in the computer, you will not be able to remove the contents of the folder.

At this point, I would ask you to uninstall AVG (and any other program installed in this folder in drive D) and check if that helps. In order to completely uninstall AVG, you must download and run the utility of deletion there, provided by AVG at this link.

Let is know if this helps or not.

    Hello

I have several flolders which I can't delete in Win 7, records apparently belong to some strange users with names starting with S-1-5-21-307... long list of numbers.

I don't know who are these users, if I go to Regedit and look at the profileImagePath, some of these points in my user account, some to the profile system or local service.

Is it safe to remove the ProfileList registry entries, or if not, how can I regain control of these files and get rid of these accounts. I tried the security, the owner tab to change the ownership of the folder, but access is denied.
