Client NFS in Solaris zone monitoring

Hello

We have servers SUN Solaris 10 zones. Areas are running as NFS clients in addition to applications.

Correct me that BB does not support Solaris zones? If so, how to monitor the connectivity status of the NFS clients in areas?

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I'm not too familiar with the installation like this.

Is that what you have already installed a BB client in this area? By the sound of it, I wound't install the BB top due to the compoenent NFS server. It would be a single point of failure.

  • 10.1.0.5 client install on solaris 8 update 3

    Hello

    We are one of our upgrade databases to 11.2.0.2 and we reviewed the client versions that is certified to work with 11.2.0.2.
    I followed the remark "Client / Server / Support of interoperability between different Oracle Versions [ID 207303.1].

    The current facilities of the customer Oracle is 9.2.0.1. The server is a sparc solaris 64-bit running Solaris 8 update 3.
    So the highest customer Oracle minimum version that I can install is 10.1 10.2 since the version of the OS that is supported is updated Solaris 8 7 or a later version.

    So, based on metalink notes 207303.1 , I have to install 10.1.0.5 oracle client on the machine that will work with Oracle database 11.2.0.2.

    I'd like to find the Group of hotfixes to MOS to 10.1.0.5. I'm not able to find the basic version of the software to the otn or delivery site.
    In otn, lowest, I can find is 10.2.0.1.

    How can I get the basic version 10.1 software so that I can install that and apply 10.1.0.5 fixes top group?

    I'm missing to look like the right place. Help, please.

    Hello

    Solaris zones are not all packages from the global zone. A default area is an imprint of very thin bones were you add several packages.

    That's what I've done for solaris:

    pkg install/system/solaris-big-server group

    pkg install xclock libxmuu x 11-info-clients compatibility/ucb

    pkg install SUNWarc SUNWbtool SUNWhea SUNWlibC SUNWlibm SUNWlibms SUNWsprot SUNWtoo SUNWcsl SUNWxcu4 pkg://solaris/SUNWxwplt

    Great server to get a lot of useful tools

    connection for Yes and ucb package is needed to patch it with opatch

    third line are the requirements for solaris, as documented in the manual and where applicable under solaris 11

  • Cannot backup VMs to the NFS server

    Hi all

    really stuck GhettoVCB script configuration to back up virtual machines...

    I only have a single physical hard drive "datastore1" on my 6.0 ESXi host. I also have NFS server:

    /NFS

    IP address: 192.168.3.200

    First of all, I did a little test: I added this NFS server (file system is ext4) as a new 'teststorage' using vSphere Client storage. When I type in console

    # mkdir/vmfs/volumes/datastore1/somefolder

    # mkdir/vmfs/volumes/teststorage/newfolder

    everyghing is ok. Also:

    # esxcli storage nfs add h 192.168.3.200 v s/nfs/backup - backup

    # mkdir/vmfs/volumes/backup/tesfolder

    Well obviously, everything works. I so disassembled vSphere Client NFS.

    Next step, I tried to configure the script:

    VM_BACKUP_VOLUME = / vmfs/volumes/datastore1/autobackup

    DISK_BACKUP_FORMAT = thin

    VM_BACKUP_ROTATION_COUNT = 1

    POWER_VM_DOWN_BEFORE_BACKUP = 0

    ITER_TO_WAIT_SHUTDOWN = 3

    POWER_DOWN_TIMEOUT = 5

    ALLOW_VMS_WITH_SNAPSHOTS_TO_BE_BACKEDUP = 1

    NFS_SERVER = 192.168.3.200

    NFS_MOUNT = / backup/nfs

    NFS_VM_BACKUP_DIR = auto save

    ENABLE_NON_PERSISTENT_NFS = 0

    UNMOUNT_NFS = 1

    SNAPSHOT_TIMEOUT = 15

    EMAIL_SERVER = mail. Core.local

    EMAIL_SERVER_PORT = 25

    EMAIL_DELAY_INTERVAL = 1

    [email protected]

    [email protected]

    VM_SHUTDOWN_ORDER =

    and they started with a command using SSH:

    # /ghettoVCB-master/ghettoVCB.sh g /ghettoVCB-master/my.conf f/ghettoVCB-master/my.list > /ghettoVCB-master/ghettoVCB14.log

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance for the help.

    The solution was simple: my notebook + in Windows curled some symbols 'hidden' at the end of the first line, before that I sent this file via WinSCP.

    1. use only vi on your ESXi because different EOL codes (CR + LF/LF). Also don't let useful space and the end of the lines.

    2 set the async on your NFS server instead of synchronization that increases the speed of copy.

    3. place your script of ghettoVCB on your data store. For example: / vmfs/volumes/datastore1

    Hope this helps others.

  • Not available in Solaris 11.2 nested virtualization

    Hello!

    Anyone know why virtual hardware virtualization is not available for my guest 11.2 Solaris?

    I want to be able to use the kernel of Solaris zones.

    The host environment:

    SuperMicro A1SRM-2758F, 32 GB of RAM

    ESXi - 5.5 (build 2302651)

    I know that the CPU (Atom C2758) supports the VT - x and EPT which is required for 64-bit virtualization nesting

    And navigation:

    https://MyIP/mob/?MOID=HA-host & doPath = Capability

    Show me the (unsupported) feature is available:

    nestedHVSupportedBoolean

    true

    I have created a virtual machine with vHardware vmx-10, selected "expose hardware assisted virtualization to the guest OS ' and installed Solaris 11, 2 as a guest.

    I also checked that "vhv.enable ="TRUE"' is not found in the vmx file."

    But since the kernel of Solaris box comments are not available:

    # virtinfo

    NAME CLASS

    VMware courses

    -area support

    # uname - a

    SunOS 5.11 global1 11.2 i86pc i386 i86pc

    Anyone have ideas why this is not available. Worked fine in VMware Fusion.

    Best regards

    -Morten Hermansen, Fanitas Green

    I think I found it.  11.2 Solaris dislikes apparently the model and the progression of your CPU Avoton.  If I change the model and execution of my Haswell system to match your Avoton, I lost also for areas of kernel comments in my Solaris 11.2 customers.

    Try these configuration options:

    featMask.vm.cpuid.MODEL = Val: 0x3c

    featMask.vm.cpuid.STEPPING = Val: 0 x 3

    That will give the impression that you have a processor Haswell (at least to the extent where the model and progression are concerned).

  • Any idea about this problem on installing the Oracle Client

    Hello

    Client computer: Dell notebook, i5, Win 7 SP1 Enterprise 64-bit (8 GB of RAM)

    I am trying to install the oracle 11.2.0.3 client 64-bit on this machine, but facing problems. After I'm done specifying ORACLE_BASE and selection of the language and 'Administrative' selected option instead of 'instant customer' or 'Runtime', by clicking on the next button, progress bar is displayed and the time it's done with audit requirements that disappears from the screen moving in together. I ran the installer with the option "Run as Administrator" too and tried to use 11.2.0.2 setup, but in vain.

    Quick question... I have a CSI valid, if I get a ticket with Oracle, they would help me on problem installing client that I am facing. In the past I was able to install the client on this machine, I am just clueless despite that I looked at the log generated by the Setup program file.

    Unfortunately, there are administrators in Windows, then there are administrators.  Apparently not all administrators are created equal.  Don't ask me to explain, I do not understand myself, I just know that this is a truth.  Still a reason more I learned to avoid Windows I get chances.

    Hello

    How to install solaris-10u9-x86-oracle-db-11gr2.bin?
    It is any model of LMOS?
    What actually is this .bin for sync file container?

    Kind regards

    It seems to be a download from this page - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/solaris/solaris-vm-405695.html - the section titled "Oracle Solaris Zone with Oracle Database 11 g 2 (64-bit)"-If Yes, there are instructions on this page ".

  • Trigger the update of java client when the table is modified

    I have a Java Swing client and a worker C program. The two must communicate with each other via events (written C progression in Oracle, Java Swing client table displays the progress of the user).

    I thought I could do this via a trigger on an oracle table. However, I could not understand how to do this. Well, create the trigger was the easy part, but how can I leave the trigger and monitoring a stored procedure to communicate with my Java client? All the info I found was on the triggers and how to store a Java method in an Oracle DB. This isn't what I need. I guess I must register my Java client in some way to monitor relaxation / table.

    Does anyone know how to do? I prefer not to use additional libraries (libraries AQ Oracle, Oracle streams). A simple trigger would suffice.

    Thank you very much for your help!

    Use the 'Database change Notification' feature to JDBC. See this article in the Guide of the Dev of JDBC
    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/B28359_01/Java.111/b31224/dbmgmnt.htm

    And 29-2 in the doc it shows how to use

    In this example, if you leave the registration now open instead of close, then change thread notification database continues to function. Now, if you run a DML query that modifies the SCOTT. DEPT table and commit, say SQL * Plus, the Java program then prints the notification.

  • error while configuring nfs for unix or openfiler

    Hello

    I need NFS help set up for the test esx host.  I use openfiler nfs and windows to UNIX servers to install the nfs server, but without success.  I have the following errors. Error in the configuration of the host: NFS error: unable to mount filesystem: unable to connect to NFS server Note: I need to configure something special on the esx service console host?  I have already installed nfs components and mounts.

    Audits:

    I can ping my server nfs, listening on port 2049, enable the firewall client nfs on esx host

    Anyone know where the steps by steps to implement nfs or openfiler for nfs work of a to z.

    Thank you for helping

    You should check your settings of double and proceed again, enable NFSv3 with ESX 3.x is very simple. To install NFS using Windows Services for UNIX, follow these steps:

    On NFS Windows 2003 Server:

    1. download the component on microsoft.com

    2 copy the/etc/passwd and/etc/Group password of ESX 3.x folder c:\etc\ windows host.

    3. install on your windows 2003 server and choose the "custom" option and choose "User mapping Service" and point the to these 2 files in c:\etc\

    4. use Windows to Unix admin console add 'administrator' and 'root' and click 'apply '.

    5 create a share as 'd:\data\sharefolder' and click on the tab 'NFS Sharing' and pass 'read/write' option and allow root access.

    On ESX 3.5 hosts:

    1 turn on the firewall for the NFS client settings

    2 chkconfig nfs and portmap autostart level 235 as mentioned

    3. create the network porgroups as (SC, VMotion, Production, Test, iSCSI, NFS) make sure you use different subnet for NFS/iSCSI traffic.

    4. you can customize your files /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny to hold account access restrictions. for example (rw, async, no squash root)

    5 restart your NFS daemon.

    Notes:

    Allows you to add storage wizard NFS Client VI-> the server name or IP address (this is your nfs server) and (mount point) such as /sharefolder and give him a "(NFS LUN01) label something like that."

    Check your ID, permissions, and settings, and ping them test information.

    Nothing else I can think of at this point if its does not work. Everyone is welcome to jump in.

    Best luck!
